The DLC is an extra, it's basically a small sequel story with new characters and plot which origin traces back to Paldea, increases the difficulty a lot, adds way more open world to explore, more "wtf pokemon" bits you wouldn't have expected from the franchise and ends after connecting to the main story of Paldea right at the end, you can see it as the B2W2 of SV. That said if you get the DLC absolutely get the mystery gift that triggers a special one hour long event epilogue once you have cleared the DLC main plot.

The built-in 'friends' you have in the game are like a mouse trap for these people.Caring about the gameplay loop of Pokemon is a much more western concern. SV's gameplay loop lacks unavoidable trainer battles and route design, so the Paldea region is basically a big shopping mall where you find the Pokemon you want immediately, get candy to make them strong, and then hit the gym leaders/alphas/team star. It's an incredibly shallow experience. Getting rid of trainers that spot you and challenge you to a battle is a boneheaded move that gets rid of the last bit of 'game' that these titles had to offer.
