I had two shiny swablu while trying to shiny hunt a fennekin. I ended up catching the shiny regular male swablu and in doing so the female alpha shiny swablu turned into a regular male swablu. Can anyone explain why?

Is this the best method for Helioptile? I've been entering the zone and running to the rocks before Excadrill and running back out. Benching is useless since it's sunny only, teleporting only hits one spawner that might spawn and isn't guaranteed.
