I can admit that it running on the 3DS and not having the casino sucks, as well as too many Mega evos hiding behind needing to get all 8 badges, but the fact you can even get some of them before the last gym is something the games before it would never dream of doing. It has a ton of content, has Gen 5's post game battle facilities, has a bunch of legendaries and small events, Pokemon variety, trainer customization, super training, gym leader rematches, a friend safari that with enough autism gives you a lot of Pokemon, it's the best for a reason. Even the Pokemon breeding and roller skate functions are simple but QoL features that only adds to the experience. It really feels like they took the previous games and just kept throwing more and more content at it. I can really respect it. It's not truly perfect or anything, but it's a grand time.

Look at Lapras for example, in HGSS it's only available on friday at the bottom of a cave and the game never explicitly tells you about it beyond some vague hints there MIGHT be something at the bottom. In XY a random NPC stops you and hands you one at the start of the route.
