Here's my shitty opinion. Diamond and Pearl, while flawed, aren't as bad as people make them out to be. ORAS is better than RS, but a far cry from Emerald. USUM is, at best, a sidegrade to SM. Gen 1 has "first-game syndrome" where it's fine, but limited compared to what came after. The fact that XY are lower than RBY says more about XY than Gen 1.
