The alternative is having a limited pool like LGPE, or having the Pokedex prioritize Pokemon based on their body type. That doesn't mean they abandoned the rodeo system, it just means it's not being implemented in Gen 10. The topography of Gen 10 could be another factor. Gen 10 has a lot of open seas, underwater areas, jungles, and mountains. We might see rodeo style mounts return in a region that's less diverse or urbanized, environments that are more like Digimon Time Stranger.
