It took literal years (easily over a decade), but I really like it now. Honestly, it might’ve been its introduction to Go that made me start liking it.
He STILL filters people. Many of the sinnoh cross-evos were great. Lots of people will look at rhyperior, or magmortar, or electivire and ree just because it's not how it was when they were kids. Just like gen 5. Just like megas. It's totally fine to dislike any given design but most people who hate rhyperior are perfectly happy with stuff like aggron which was designed in a very similar vein.Rhyperior deserves a mega. I also wouldn't be opposed to a new regional rhyhorn/rhydon/new regional evo line tho some of those concepts are quite cool, like the "rhyceratops" one.

But the flat, round plates turn this thing into a near featureless orb. It's lucky it has the cool arms.3. Animal gets turned into a jobmon. 4. Nonsense anatomy. Gaining a tail club seems a natural progression if you proposed it for Rhydon. But Rhyperior keeps a bipedal stance on shorter legs with a shorter, much thinner tail. I can hardly imagine this thing being able to do anything more than wag it's tail pathetically rather than hit anything with significant force. Looks more like it's a counterweight for it's massive arms rather than a weapon. Cannon arms are cool but... what does this thing use them for in the wild? The claws are blunted too - what's the point? The horn drill itself seems entirely impractical at this stage thanks to the added girth. Can it really drill a hole in the rock that is big enough to crawl through?

I think the design could have been done better for the concept.I like the "rock monster wearing a construction worker clothes" concept, but Rhyperior is awkwardly tubby, the arm cannons don't feel like they mesh all that well. The wrecking ball tail is appropriate, the arms are supposed to look like an excavator or maybe even hammers, and the drill horn, and the ear protectors.neat concept, but it's kind of awkward and even more awkward as a Rhydon evolution

Rhyperior is like if the Aggron line started with Lairon and Aggron evolved into a miner with its head being reshaped to resemble a safety helmet with a light, the metal grooves on its body changed to look like mining overalls and a vest, the tail was shrunk down but given a pickaxe at the end of it that it looks like it can't use.

I always liked it. Never hated it. I wager the haters are why we never got more cross-gen evos until almost a decade later. I hated most gen 4 evos when those games came out. Almost all of them grew on me over the years. I'm particularly fond of Porygon Z, Magnezone and Togekiss.But I will never stop hating Rhyperior. This is the ugliest motherfucker on the block. This is the original "ugly mon". I will never accept it. It just looks so fucking bad.
