>FAQ
>What is this?
People are turning into Pokemon. Some are having the time of their lives, and some are struggling to survive. These are their stories.
>How do I join?
Just start posting.
>What's the lore?
People and animals (and at least one tree) are changing at random in their sleep, waking up still in the real world, but now as Pokemon, and nobody knows why (that includes you. Please don't try to explain it). Just enough transformations are occurring to notably change day-to-day life without collapsing civilization. This is not the apocalypse, even if it might feel like it to some characters in the moment. Some people are more in touch with their instincts than others, and some have lost more of their humanity than others. That's about it. Avoid legendaries if possible

If I knew how much walking I'd be doing, I would be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usQ5_u7myic

I had this finished earlier but wanted to wait for a new thread so it didn't get buried
https://rentry.org/cb24k1ti

And I got a lot of helpful replies to my last post. I don't think I have the time to respond to everything individually so some cliff notes

Isaac having a "Pokemon companion" doesn't sit right with me. I'm not sure why, I just don't see it working well. Kayden is good enough for the time being.

I was surprised to see how many people didn't outright say that him turning into a Pokemon would be terrible for the story. I still don't see it happening in the foreseeable future but I guess I won't dismiss the idea when the well of ideas has fully dried up.

And also in regards to that litwick character. There is a reason I never wrote that story. While the concept was interesting there was really nothing for me to do with it. A graveyard just isn't a good setting for a story in the long run and the character itself was pretty two dimensional. At best, I could reuse it for a future encounter here, but I kind of doubt it.

I don't remember if I posted about it last thread, but I am incredibly happy that there's a new herding cats chapter. That was the story that really made me want to write here. I don't find it as dark or grim as other people here, but seeing the shift in his perspective from chapter 4 escalate further was interesting. We'll see how real that decidueye ends up being.

And now Europeans exist in this world. Crazy lore development, who knows what impact this will have on the thread. I've heard Japan mentioned a few times offhand but I haven't seen many other countries mentioned so having a story centered around the swiss cheese army is exciting.

I saw mentions of a discord in the last thread. I've no desire to join anything like that but I hope that turns out well if that's what people decide to do

>Kurt got comfortable on the couch, draping his tail over the back of the sofa and resting his bad arm atop one of the throw pillows.
>He grabbed the remote and flicked the TV on. The familiar blare of a whistle and the roar of a crowd filled the room.
>Football. The universal background noise of Thanksgiving.
>"So," Kurt called out over the commentary, watching the Chiefs line up for a field goal, “Anything interesting this week while I was stuck in purgatory?”
>"Sthame ol, sthame ol," Larson replied from the stove, lisping around the box of premade stuffing in his mouth as he poured it into a pan. He spat the empty box into the trash before continuing.
>”Nothing exciting. Long days, longer reports. Luckily it's been sort of a quiet, standard week. You would’ve been bored to tears. Don’t know how you stomached doing these forms by yourself, stuff’s a pain.”
>Kurt waved him off with his good hand. “Eh, they’re whatever. Wouldn’t take me that long to do ‘em, but you know I love to procrastinate.”
>”Well maybe with me helping you out with them from now on, we can avoid it all piling up at the end.”
>Kurt laughed. “Oh yeah? I’d like to see you type with those murder mittens of yours.”
>”He’s using a voice-to-text software I recommended,” Emma piped up while stirring the mix into the boiling chicken broth. “Seems to be doing the trick for the most part!”
>”So now I’ll be pulling my weight, no more excuses from either of us.” Larson added.
>”Ok, ok, message received. I can sense I won’t win any arguments today,” Kurt sighed, his focus pulled away from the game and towards the two. “What about you Emma? Get up to any nerd stuff?”
>Emma huffed. ”Nah, honestly same as Lars here, boring work week. Hate my manager, but nothing new there.”
>She was floating plates and cutlery from the cupboard to the small dining table, arranging them with a symmetric precision only a psychic type could pull off.
>>
>>58709830
>"We went out to that brewery you two like the other night, though," Emma added. “Just to get out of the house for a little bit.”
>Larson moved to the sink to drain the green beans, passing behind Emma.
>She leaned back into him for a split second, her tail giving a tiny, involuntary twitch that curled the tip around Larson’s leg before letting go.
>Kurt didn’t miss Larson’s fur bristling the way it did whenever he got embarrassed.
>”...Oh yeah? How was it?” He asked, eyebrow raised and struggling to keep a grin from growing on his face.
>”Crowded,” Larson grunted, placing the empty pot by the sink before the strainer with the green beans was outlined with a blue hue and transported to the table. “...But good. Good drinks.”
>”Wasn’t the only thing that was good,” Emma impishly teased, bumping him on the side in time with a loud cheer from the TV.
>Larson was wide eyed and looking in every direction that wasn’t Emma or Kurt. “You’re evil,” Kurt thought he heard the Luxray mutter to the pink cat.
>“Almost ready!” he announced after clearing his throat. “Stuffing should be done in five-ish minutes, everything else is good to go. Hopefully the mashed potatoes aren’t too lumpy.”
>"They look fine," Emma assured him. She floated the gravy boat over to the table, then turned her attention to the centerpiece, the honey glazed ham.
>Her gem glinted as she took it out of the oven and unwrapped the foil, the crinkling sound sharp in the warm air. "I can handle getting all the food over to the table if you want to grab the drinks?" she asked Larson.
>”On it.” he replied, nudging the fridge open.
>Emma trotted around the table, organizing the main dish and the sides onto the table and double checking for anything missing before she froze. Her ears shot up straight.
>”Oh! Almost completely forgot!”
>"Forgot what?" Larson asked, emerging from the fridge with a six-pack of beers hooked on one claw.
>>
>>58709831
>”You know, the thing! One sec!” She darted, her paws thudding softly against the carpet as she sprinted up the stairs, presumably towards Larson’s room.
>Kurt craned his neck, watching Larson set the drinks down. "What’s got her all fired up?"
>"A gift. No clue what it is though," Larson shrugged. "She's been vibrating with this secret all week and didn’t want me spoiling the surprise."
>Kurt hummed, standing up from the couch and walking over to Larson. He placed his hand on the Luxray’s shoulder. Larson froze.
>”So. How long?”
>Larson looked confused. “How long what?”
>”You know, you and Emma. Together. Being all lovey-dovey. You’re real bad at hiding this kind of stuff, and she’s not doing you any favors.”
>Larson groaned. “...Uh. Since the night at the brewery. Like, two days,” he mumbled, ears swiveling back.
>Kurt gave him a firm slap on the back in congratulations before whipping his phone out from his jacket, typing up a storm. “Finally! I’m both am and not surprised it took this long. Happy for ya!”
>”Uh, thanks. Sorry, I wanted to mention it but, didn’t want to upset you for some reason? Not that I thought you would, you know I hate awkward situations.”
>”Well I’ve been rootin’ for ya to finally find someone! We’ve been friends for, what, almost two decades? Unless you completely changed yourself up for some girl, I wouldn’t get mad,” Kurt replied, punctuated by the sound of a sent text message. “Plus you made me like, fifty bucks, so that’s cool.”
>Larson looked up at Kurt, brows furrowed. “The hell do you mean by that?”
>Kurt let him connect the dots. A moment later Larson gasped, “Oh my god, you were betting on us?!”
>Kurt chuckled as he pocketed his phone. “Yup. Brandon and I were betting on when you were gonna finally ask Emma out. It was totally obvious it was gonna happen. He said before New Years, I said before December. Knew you had it in ya! You guys bang yet?”
>>
>>58709839
>Larson flushed, fur bristling and sparking as he whirled around at the laughing Inteleon. His response died in his throat as he heard Emma trotting back down the stairs.
>She skidded to a stop next to Kurt, a large, soft-looking bundle wrapped in festive paper levitating just above her head.
>"Happy Get Well Soon slash early Christmas present but not your actual Christmas present-present!" she beamed, sitting back on her haunches, her tail sweeping the floor excitedly.
>Kurt looked at the package, then at her. "You didn't have to get me anything, Emma."
>"I didn't get it, I made it! Open it! I want to see how it looks."
>Kurt grasped the package and walked over to a clear space on the counter, awkwardly tearing at the paper with his one hand. Larson padded over and sat beside Emma to watch.
>As the paper fell away, Kurt pulled out a massive, heavy-knit scarf. It was a deep forest green, thick and chunky, but the inside was lined with an incredibly soft thermal fleece.
>"I figured the cold’s been hitting you pretty hard," Emma explained, wringing her paws together slightly, “And I know you mentioned that wearing heavier clothing bothers you, so I figured this might help! I used some leftover thermal fabric from a cosplay I did last year. It should lock in body heat super well."
>Kurt blinked, staring at the bundle in his hand. He carefully looped the scarf over his head.
>It settled around his neck like a warm hug, instantly cutting the draft he hadn’t realized was still tickling his throat.
>He looked down at the Espeon, his yellow eyes softening. "This is perfect. Seriously. I was freezing my tail off."
>"I can make a tail-sock too, if you want!" Emma offered eagerly.
>Larson chuckled, reaching down to nuzzle his chin between Emma’s ears. “All that skullduggery for some fashion. Seems like it's a hit though. Good job.”
>Emma leaned her head back into Larson’s, eyes closing as she purred, pleased with herself.
>>
>>58709842
>The meal was a clumsy, yet snug and perfect affair.
>Emma used her telekinesis to slice the ham, floating wedges of meat onto everyone’s plates.
>Despite being down one arm, Kurt managed best he could, offering to help pass out the sides while Emma was preoccupied.
>Larson, not having the pressure to maintain an image in public, simply lowered his muzzle to his plate, eating with enthusiastic, predatory gusto.
>The trio quieted down as they followed Larson’s lead and attacked their plates, broken up by the occasional chatter from someone with a mouth half-full of potatoes.
>Emma had to hold a small telekinetic hold to wipe a smudge of gravy off Larson’s cheek with a napkin.
>Larson didn't even flinch; he just leaned into it, his tail giving a slow, contented thump against Emma’s chair leg.
>The sight made Kurt coo a soft ‘aww’. He checked his phone under the table, seeing the notification that he was begrudgingly sent the prize money.
>The festivities were interrupted as a certain red and blue schizoid floated down the hall.
>”Well well well, look who finally decided to come out of their cave. Glad you could pause your game for an hour to come visit!” Emma teased as Porygon-Z peeked around the corner at the table.
>Kurt’s eyes instantly locked with it. Porygon froze stock still. Kurt placed his fork down, making the ‘I’m watching you’ gesture and giving it the stink eye.
>Expressionless as always, it still gave an aura of slight fear as it slowly floated backwards out of sight.
>Larson snorted. “A little rude. Probably deserved.”
>”Oh, there’s going to be a LONG chat between it and me later,” Kurt hissed with venom, turning back around to finish his meal.
>By the time the last of the ham was gone, the post Thanksgiving meal lethargy was already starting to set in, hitting the trio harder than any previous year.
>Maybe being a pokemon amplified the instinct to gorge and then immediately hibernate.
>>
>>58709850
>They did their best tidying up, with Kurt placing any leftovers in tupperware containers while Emma floated all the dishes into the sink.
>Larson stared at the mountainous pile of dirty dishes in the sink, his ears drooping. "I think this is the one case where we get to procrastinate and let future us handle it."
>"Future Emma agrees," the Espeon yawned, stretching down on her front legs until a satisfying pop from her spine. "Future Emma thinks present Emma needs to be horizontal before she falls asleep standing up."
>"I'm not arguing," Kurt said, clutching his stomach with his good hand. He was already tired coming back home, now he was ready to fall into a twenty-four hour coma.
>They migrated to the living room like a slow moving herd. The largely ignored football game was still droning on in the background, the soft roar of the crowd serving as white noise.
>Larson bypassed the furniture entirely, collapsing onto the thick rug in the center of the room with a groan that was half-lion, half-old-man, sprawling out on his side.
>Emma curled up almost instantly, fitting herself into the curve of his chest, resting her head on his front paws.
>”Do the thing,” she murmured to Larson. Emma purred as the larger cat obliged and began to warm up his fur.
>Kurt settled back down in his previous spot on the couch, glancing out the window of the living room. Small flurries of snow were gently falling. It wasn’t cold enough for them to stick, but the sight was still pretty.
>”Not gonna join us? It's so nice and warm and cozy down here, you’re missing out,” Emma called up to the Inteleon.
>”Ehh, three’s a crowd.” Kurt waved her off, “I’m comfy up here. Don’t want to interrupt the lovebirds.”
>One of Larson’s eyes cracked open, a low, insistent rumble in his throat. “Don’t be a loner. The poke-pack’s gotta stick together, or whatever cringe shit you called it.”
>>
>>58709852
>A blue aura surrounded a throw pillow and moved it down to the floor, positioning it right against Larson’s back. “Come on dummy, I know you said you had literal cold feet when you came in, and hey, it's pretty warm down here,” Emma mumbled sleepily, not opening her eyes.
>Kurt hesitated for another second, looking at the invitation, awkwardly pulling the scarf tighter around his neck as he bit his lip in thought.
>”Screw it, it does look warm,” Kurt sighed, defeated. “But if you shock me, I’m suing.”
>Kurt lowered his long, lanky frame onto the rug, settling against the pillow Emma leaned against Larson’s back. The warmth was instant and heavenly.
>Larson shifted slightly, adjusting to the added weight, and let out a contented exhale. “Comfy?”
>"Shut up," Kurt grunted, but failed to keep the smile from his tone of voice. He closed his eyes, finally truly relaxing. "Happy Thanksgiving, you freaks."
>"Happy Thanksgiving, lizard brain," Emma purred.
>Within minutes, the only sounds in the townhouse was the commercial-interrupted game commentary on the TV, the flurries gently tapping against the window, and synchronized breathing of three very full, very content pokemon.

Finally done with the last part, definitely escalated well past the expected size but, at this point that's to be expected from me. Hope you guys enjoyed! I'm planning on doing some sort of new years episode, and might try to get out some smaller scale stuff this month, time permitting.

>"How're you feeling...?" I hear her ask.

>Luckily, my phone's still by my side to translate...
>"Oh come on, that's not the thing to be thinking about right now. You're holding up alright, aren't you? Suzannine here told us a friend of hers would heal you. Did she?" Asks my dad.
>"Well, my body doesn't hurt that much anymore so I think she did..." I say, and the phone translates.
>Mom's getting close, I think she's-
>"Wait, please be careful! D-don't touch me, I don't want you to get cut!" I need to exclaim before it's too late.
>She... almost looks hurt by me saying that alone. Dang.
>"I... I understand, wouldn't want a paper cut right? Have had enough of those at the editorial... Well, can I... at least pet you someway...?" She hesitates to ask.
>Man, I...
>...
>I always make sure to hug mom and dad whenever I see them.
>It's... nice.
>But now, I...

>Shouldn't even think of that.
>Kartana's pettable in the games, right?
>Just... gotta do it from the front and make sure you don't run your fingers along the edges.
>Maybe if I softe-
>"Is... this ok?" Mom says as she carefully places her hand on me.
>It's... warm.
>I hadn't realized how cold I felt even with the blanket on me.
>It's... nice.
>Before I realize it, I wrap my arms around her hand, making sure to dull my edges as best as I can, and curving them away from her hand.
>I missed this.
>I can see her smile.
>Even if I don't have a face, I feel like... she can see me smiling, too.
>"Thank you." Is all I can muster.
>Pap gets closer too. He carefully puts his hand on top too. I make sure my blade doesn't cut him either.

>"What happened? Suzannine told us that Amaro picked you up in pretty bad shape and... something about a fight...? Did... well, were you assaulted by someone?" He asks. He's... always been very forward, but he cares a lot.
>"Y-yeah, I was... making my way home after visiting Amaro and Suzannine for dinner when this... I think you 2 don't know the name of the Pokemon he was, it's one that has swords for arms. He just... appeared in the middle of the road. I couldn't even tell when he showed up..." I say, hesitantly...
>"Doesn't seem like he was trying to rob you at least" pipes in Amaro "that bag of yours seemed to have all your belongings when I picked it up."
>"We told you to be careful out there... But at least Amaro managed to get to you before things got worse." Says mom, lightly scolding me before giving Amaro an eternally grateful look.
>...Mom carefully leans in to give me a kiss on... well, where my forehead would be.
>"I'm... sorry we can't be of more help," she adds after she backs off "just know that we're here for you in case anything happens..."
>"We reported your case to the police so they can be on the lookout. They've been very busy as of late so they handed us a form to give the desk lady once you're making your way out of the hospital. Can you still write, or do you need help?" Pap's always thinking ahead.
>"I... should be able to do it alright. I think... I feel better now." ...and I wouldn't want to stay in the hospital longer than necessary... "C-can you get your hands off me so I can get up...?"
>The 2 of them hastily back up and I try pushing myself up.
>The cool part about levitating being how you move is that you can still get up even if your legs would bend at the effort.
>At least I think it's a bit cool.
>"There we go..." I say, as I feel pap lightly pat me on the back once I'm the air.
>"Always knew you were strong." He says before turning to the couple who'd helped me out through this. "We... really can't thank you enough."

>Amaro briefly shakes his wing dismissively.
>"I-it's nothing! If anything I feel bad for not checking up on Cruz sooner, but at least things didn't get any worse. Suz already checked how much the bill would be, we already covered half of it, at least it wasn't much for just the overnight stay given Ren's help. It's the least we could do, he did get jumped after coming to eat with us after all..." He says, more apologetic than he has any right to be.
>Come on dude, you saved my life, you really don't need to go overboard like this.
>Mom gives him a hug, and then Suzannine. Very much deserved.
>"Seriously, thanks for your care. We'll... handle him from here." She turns to me. "We'll... Give you a ride home, is that alright?"
>It's always nice seeing her smile.
>I nod.
>Amaro blinks a couple of times.
>"Oh wait, we never told you what the doctor said! Apparently, even if you were pretty beat up, from what he could see... You're not really hurt at any deeper level, I guess everything's skin-deep when you're paper-thin huh? He said that despite the fact it seemed like you'd suffered a lot of blunt-force trauma, there was no noticeable lasting impact. He said, and I quote, 'it's like there was some sort of barrier at a subcutaneous level that forcibly stopped any damage that could've been lethal from going deep enough'. Also said he couldn't really give you any painkillers given a lot of them are still under research in terms of how they react to Pokemon biology, but given the damages, it seemed like something motrin could aid in. It was him who told us to ask around for a Pokemon friend who could heal since that was likely the best result. And so far, it does seem to have helped at least! Look at yourself!" Amaro finishes recalling as he points to me.
>On a second look...
>All the scars I had a minute ago are gone.
>"Pokemon healing seems great huh?" He says with a peppy tone.
>Mom and pap look at me again, as surprised as I am.

>"Actually, I think you can learn some healing for yourself Cruz." Chimes in Suzannine.
>"Was looking up stuff about 'Kartana' on this WikiDex site, apparently you can learn something called 'Synthesis' to heal yourself, and it even works when there's no sun out! Even if not as well... oh, and when the sun's harsh out you can heal even better!" She's scrolling through her phone. I did forget Kartana could do that. But I don't want to think too hard right now...
>"T-that sounds amazing!" My mom adds. "Are there any tutors or... someone that teaches Pokemovements or something like that to help?"
>"He just woke up from getting attacked in the street, don't mortify him like that, let him take a break." Pap says as he pats her back.
>"Right, right, just... needs to rest after that. Still, thank you so so much for your help you 2. We'll make it back to you, promise." Mom says.
>"Again, it's nothing! Just glad he's ok now... If you don't mind, Suz and I will be headed out now that we're here, it's about time my class starts and I need to drop her off at her barre session..."
>"Of course! Please take care, and thanks again!" Mom says as she waves the couple goodbye.
>"So. Do you want us to take you home already or do you want to stay here for a while?" Asks my dear father.
>"I... Think it's better if we just go home... Sorry if I'm not particularly talkative, I'm... a bit tired from it all still even if I'm 'healed' now." I try to say as eloquently as I can.
>...god it feels like the bastard punched me in my non-existent throat...
>Probably did given that last flurry of his...
>"Are you sure? You could stay longer if you need to, we'll take care of it..." Says mom, worried.
>Dad looks at me, a sense of understanding in his eyes.
>"You remember how badly I wanted to leave the hospital after that surgery, don't you? Let's just get outta here." He tells her, as she nods in begrudging acceptance.

Been needing to get this outta my system for the last couple of days. Being sick sux but at least I feel better now. More of a "bridging" update but one I did want to do. Also felt like if there was a time to at least partially show Cruz's parents, it'd be now. Hope it doesn't come across as too hasty, hospital situations are always kind of... Awkward, I'd say.

Oh crap, hadn't noticed, new Churchanon hell yeah! Read it just now, good stuff, honestly Kayden's very complimentary to Isaac so far I'd say, an eager kid and a kindhearted priest, and Kayden being a Pokemon fan will definitely make researching easier (if a bit more thorough than Isaac'd probably like I figure). Interesting cliffhanger to leave us on, good stuff as always!
>Litwick
Yeah that's fair, sometimes an idea can be neat but just kinda hard to develop fully. I workshopped the Gallade quite a bit before settling on him for thematic reasons, was a Bisharp at one point, but Gallade was a mon that compliments what I'm going for thematically much better. Some ideas are better just left pinned on the corkboard and explored later for sure.
>I've heard Japan mentioned a few times offhand but I haven't seen many other countries mentioned
Mentioned, yeah. ; >

Man I'm not even American and you got me feeling the Thanksgiving cheer man, great stuff! You've got a rock solid dynamic with these 3 for sure, it's always just... endearing, reading their antics. They're super personable but still interesting in a way that's just... Fun to follow. Also glad to see the schizoid show up even if just for a bit. Phenomenal stuff as always!

>Live view of my two muses fighting for my attention
While searching for art, I discovered two things. Apparently there’s a twitter user by the name of Professor Decidueye. Completely unrelated. I didn’t realize until now Decidueye can’t learn quote-unquote “Fly”. That’s unfortunate. My story was never about leaning into game mechanics anyway, so I’m not going to worry about it.

Great work on all of the recent updates. I still post even without the pictures so don’t think I’m ignoring others.

Should be "that has a border with California"

And yeah, you definitely get the sense that he's coming more unglued as time goes on. Might want him to reiterate that he refuses to stop at least once more during the passage, just to make it very clear that he's not resting. Otherwise looks good.

>>58709516
I'll admit it did feel like we were spinning our wheels just a little bit here waiting for the next ghosite to come along for Isaac to deal with. I would've liked to see some interaction between him and those coming to receive food myself, but I suppose most people in that situation aren't feeling particularly chatty. If the Goodmans' daughter has turned and they decide not to violently reject her like Kayden's parents did, that could make for an interesting contrast though.

>Europeans exist in this world. Crazy lore development
Total madness. Mass hysteria.

There's no sever, just peeps keeping in contact since it's easy to lose touch on 4chan. Throw up a burner if you're down for that, or not and not. Either way.

>>58709863
I feel like convincing Kurt to join a cuddle pile on the floor is a bigger step for him than any of them realize, in multiple ways. That part easily cements this as one of the best and most adorable updates in the entirety of /sip/ - was definitely worth all the extra attention you gave the LarKurt Thanksgiving. Whatever troubles their Pokemonness may bring these three, they'll be fine as long as they have each other. You selected some fabulous picrels for this part, too.

Absolutely top-shelf work once again, Snivyanon. He just doesn't miss.
>>
>>58709516
Good update! Kayden continues to be adorable, and I like that he's been 'helping' with pokemon research. Probably make sure that laptop has an adblocker, though, just to be safe. I am curious why he didn't consider asking Stephen to watch Kayden while he was gone. Given how willing Stephen is to help out, he didn't really seem like the kind of person that would outright refuse to watch after someone who turned, especially if they were a kid who was going to be left on their own for a few hours. I guess churchanon didn't want to get into the weeds of the situation?

Interesting hook at the end. Good to see the plot progressing. While I don't fulling agree that the narrative was stalling, it did seem to want to do some world building-esque stuff without exploring them beyond surface level, so I can see why it seemed like there was simultaneously a lot but not much happening story wise.

>>58710045
Hope you feel better soon, colds suck.

Lovely little update, and cute art as always! Like the dynamic of the doting mother and the worried but reassuring father, Kartanon's lucky he has good parents. Mom asking about the existence of pokemon move tutors so Kartanon can learn healing moves was funny in an adorable way. The physiological explanation for his sturdiness is interesting, I like stuff like that. Also funny that doctors there aren't prescribing him pain killers but the doctors treating Kurt went ahead and gave him the good shit, fun seeing little differences like that.

Was thinking about what social support would each transformee get depending on what they turned into.
Not every mon would be capable of working their dream job because of either being too dangerous, needing absurd accomodations, or just not being able to use the tools needed. Even worse if the transformation renders years of training/education worthless and forcing you into a job that you despise but your biology is tailor made to do it.

I don't expect to find many fire types working at gas stations, and I doubt there would be a lot of job offers for Slowpokes, Snorlaxes, or Slakings except for maybe the DMV.

>And now Europeans exist in this world. Crazy lore development.
t. native American tribesman in the 15th century.

Seriously though, I wouldn't feel comfortable writing about something I basically only know from watching TV. It would've just been stereotype galore.
Also, with so many anons writing about Thanksgiving, I kinda want to write about some local traditions as well, like the "Fasnacht" or the yearly "Onion Market" in the capital.
>>
>I am curious why he didn't consider asking Stephen to watch Kayden
Ah, had a cut line explaining that Isaac didn't want to have him in his house right after it was haunted. It was a pretty mediocre throwaway line so I was just gonna remove it and replace it with something better, (and apparently I didn't). Stephen was also going to be in the previous part but he got removed be the conversation with him wasn't going anywhere

>>58711362
That would be nice to believe but let's be honest, at least 10% of Pokemon would just go completely extinct if this was the case

>>58711331
>I doubt there would be a lot of job offers for Slowpokes, Snorlaxes, or Slakings except for maybe the DMV
Kek. I relate to this though. I've lost job opportunities because of suddenly developed medical issues in the past. One day normal, next day your life is fucked. It would be worse for a Pokemon I imagine.

Partly wish I could've written for Thanksgiving but like... What do I write that's even relevant, you know? Christmas has more potential, I'll consider that
>>
>>58711626
>That would be nice to believe but let's be honest, at least 10% of Pokemon would just go completely extinct if this was the case
A lot of wild animals are getting turned into Pokemon too, so there's ways to populate the less desirable species out there.

>>
>>58712707
The coin flip was that he was born a human and woke up one day as a pokemon instead of being born a pokemon and one day waking up as a human.

You could sort of do that in this setting by making an animal transform into a Mr. Mime or something like that.

Anyways, let's do this... only like six weeks late...

>The next part of the process was relatively straightforward compared to moving entire pallets with your bare hands. >Plastic wrapping obviously posed no kind of obstacle to you, although your first attempt at removing it did see you employ a bit too much enthusiasm.
>Fortunately, Xavier was ready this time and intercepted the resulting falling box before you could do any more damage.
>You rubbed the back of your head while he just looked at you with a raised eyebrow, a kind of awkward smirk indicating just how against his better judgement all this was.
>You did your best to be more delicate after that. With these four big, meaty mitts that could crush bricks (probably. It wasn't like you'd tried that yet. You made a mental note to try that...), you were still figuring out this whole "manual dexterity" thing.
>Still, being able to casually lift a half-dozen boxes of soda cans made transferring stock from the palettes to the cages a breeze!
>Poor Riley, for his part, just tried to do his job and keep his distance, while Xavier stayed closer... probably to keep an eye on you...
>Antonio was still no help to the team alive, of course, tapping with increasing annoyance.
>"Oh c'mon, c'mon... only 13 views after 15 minutes...? This shit should be going like... crypto viral...!"
>"That's not how any of that works..." Xavier deadpanned. "Give it a few hours, at least, man."
>"Nah, I gotta moderate the comments!"
>There he went again with his excuses. Xavier said nothing more, merely rolling his eyes and getting back to supporting/babysitting you.
>While it wasn't quite record time and wasn't the neatest the cages had ever been loaded up, you couldn't help but preen a little once the job was done, partially in compensation for not having had a chance to do so earlier.
>>
>>58714782
>The chirp of Antonio's phone snapping a picture as you put two hands behind your head and made V-signs with the other two gave you a little rush of energy.
>You flexed and puffed out your chest.
>"Huh..." Xavier noted as he starred at the cages. "That... could've gone worse..."
>"Uhh... s-sure, but now we gotta do the hard part..." Riley piped up uncertainly.
>"Hard part?" Xavier quizzed. "How is that the...?"
>His words died as Riley frantically gestured at you with a clawed pointer finger while indicating the employee entrance to the store proper with his head, teeth gritted and making little sequaky 'ehh... ehh...' sounds in the most supreme display of awkwardness since... well since Riley about a week ago, honestly...
>It took Xavier a second to process the implications, but then his face fell.
>"Ah..." he exhaled. "Crap, yeah, my brain was on autopilot there..."
>He turned to you ruefully while you just tilted your head.
>"No good way to say this, man..." he conceded. "Think you should just stay back here."
>"Y-yeah, we can't... umm..." Riley tried.
>"You girls could stop pissing yourselves for five minutes and live a little, y'know," Antonio, perhaps unsurprisingly, dissented. "I wanna see everyone's stupid faces! Especially the overbitch..."
>"No, man, c'mon..." Xavier insisted, giving you a pleading look. "Charlie, you know we can't just... right...?"
>You weren't torn.
>As amusing as the look on your manager's face would surely be, you really, genuinely, had intended to do the good and right and smart thing here.
>After all, you could scare people, or damage something, or...
>NO TRUE MACHAMP WOULD DARE DENY...
>...shit.
>It had only come on for an instant - just a short, sharp ping in your brain - but it had been stronger than any of the previous intrusive thoughts, like that Akira meme.
>...and you had to admit, it had a point. You came here to be seen, didn't you?
>>
>>58714788
>"Charlie, what are you doing?" Xavier bleated in alarm. "Charlie!"
>...really, what was the worst that could happen? Not like you'd hurt someone who didn't deserve it, right?
>A true Machamp would never!
>...sure, pal.
>"This isn't happening... God, please tell me this isn't happening..." Riley whimpered, his hands covering his mouth and nose.
>"Oh fuck, this is gold, this is gold, this is gold!" an elated Antonio practically vibrated in place as his phone swung right back into action.
>Unfortunately the two cages plus you were too wide to fit through the doors, so you had to sort of awkwardly crab walk out to the shop floor.
>Probably wasn't giving Antonio the BEST footage, but it'd do.
>The lifting was what mattered.
>The doors swung obediently out of your way as you pushed the nearest cage sideways into them, the change in lighting stinging your eyes for the briefest moment.
>The image resolved into one of slightly furtive mundanity. No Pokemon out here that you could see, but the shoppers in the produce section (the one closest to the door you'd exited) had this faintly nervous energy to them.
>None of them noticed you right away, accustomed as they were to not seeing "the help", so you just scooched toward the usual place where you and the others would line up cages before taking them to the specific aisles they were needed.
>Clearing your throat for attention was unnecessary - you let your new muscles do the talking.
>And sure enough, it was only a few seconds before the first shopper did a double take and gasped.

Writers: have you ever written anything before, or is this thread your first work?
>>
>>58715635
This isn't my first, and this isn't even my first attempt at something like this. I had a story like this that originally took place in the African campaign where the Allies, in their infinite wisdom, fuck with something that they didn't understand whatsoever, and accidentally caused people to start transforming.
It didn't get very far.

>>58714093
I've done roleplays where the Pokemon have to come to the human world to retrieve the hero, and they end up as humans that can't use their moves. Well, at least until the human world starts falling apart because the antagonists are trying to track them down, causing the separation between the two worlds to rapidly shrink.

I have written before. I had many attempts at PMD stories that never got past the first chapter. Also had the idea for this sort of "furry post-apocalypse" that I never wrote but still kind of want to. It's a little too complicated to get into, but qrd is I Am Legend except instead of turning into vampires, they turned into feral animals and the protagonist isn't a doctor, he's a hunter. I also did one roleplay in the past if that counts but none of my characters ever turned into pokémon. I didn't stick around long enough for it to happen, and I was still debating with the tranny mods about the circumstances surrounding it. Initial transformations had to be described in detail. Something that I didn't know about because most people either started out as pokémon or had their characters turn long before I arrived. Was pretty obvious to me at that point that the server owner was secretly getting off to the idea and I left pretty quickly after that conversation. Was putting up with enough bullshit like not being allowed to give my character any weapons because they "don't exist in pokémon." Tell me you didn't watch the Indigo League without telling me.

>>58715918
So in this unwritten story, were they turning into pokémon too? That's gotta be some weird shit since nobody knows what pokémon are at that time. I actually like how confusing that would be to them, it seems like it would be fun to write.

When I was the only one writing for the first week or so, I sketched out a couple story outlines. Didn't go in these directions for many reasons, but I could have made a good, cohesive plot out of this one. This one was a little darker, and it was:

A lucario did bodyswap with the protagonist. Lucario in (you)r body is utterly miserable. He hates the aches, pains, and limitations of being human. Unable to see aura makes him feel disabled and powerless in a world he doesn't recognize. The lucario uses (you)r "fake memories" to find his way to (you)r home in the faint hope it would somehow put things back the way they used to be.

It doesn't. He tries to make the best of a bad situation. The bitterness of losing so much is a constant echo.

Eventually culminates in him hearing rumors of Jirachi existing, and not-cario setting off to wish everything back to normal. The protagonist, (you), don't ever want to be human again and pursue. Jirachi might just be rumors, but (you) won't risk it.

It doesn't end well. I'll leave what happens to your imagination.
>>
>>58714791
Oh yay, more Charlie! Unfortunately you won't go viral in 15 minutes, gotta wait at least a few hours like Xavier said. But you know what would get more of a reaction? Live fans! And even the Machamp-brain agrees! Nothing like some eye candy while you shop for groceries. Great stuff, excited for the next part!

Yeah. The Italians were there first, but the Italians had kind of wizened up to the phenomenon for whatever reason(I didn't get to explaining why the Italians bailed out, perhaps it could've been because they accidentally transformed someone and realized that this was a power far beyond their ability to handle,) so the Free French colonies were the ones responsible for accidentally creating a new age for the world instead.

>>58716178
It was fun, but it just didn't get far. I didn't know where to go beyond "wow, shit, the Afrika Korps don't have tank drivers to execute their Blitzkrieg anymore and the entire British line is in chaos."
At least the German supply lines would've been solved by the influx of Pokemon that can carry long distance supplies?
>>
>>58719519
Maybe the Italians fell into disarray when they didn’t get their “Pasta Point” for the turn.
>>
>>58719221
I had an idea. But it involves breaking on of the rules here.
And no it's not fug.
It involves Diancie.
>>
>>58720175
The rules here are more a suggestion. If you want, just make it clear you're ignoring the prompt. I know the Mew story got blasted but it was mostly because the auther wrote before that his explanation "seems like a fair assumption for the prompt."
>>
>>58720240
Well the idea is that Diancie just appears in a diamond mine in Arkansas.
Like all the legendaries we have seen she isn't human, just a Manifestation of a sentient force of nature, and her arrival is causing the Mega stones to appear.
Se my idea is Legendaries are not human at all, and that makes them even more mysterious and terrifying to the changing world.
>>
>>58720267
I like that concept a lot personally. I assume other writers here won't use it for their settings but if you could create a story with it, it'd be cool
>>
>>58715635
I've been doing long-form text RPs for 15 years. 20 if you count shitty forum games. I may've struggled with actually writing Charlie's story, but contributing to and organizing the sort of thing is like slipping on old, comfortable runners. Good lord am I ever old and crap...

>>58717177
I'd say you made a good call there considering how many people we've managed to bring together by making these stories (broadly) positive and uplifting. Fascinating concept, mind you.

>This is the first time I've ever written full on stories.

>>58719128
>>58719221
Absol Z kinda gives me the same energy as Starmie in that it takes things to such a height of absurdity that it actually kinda words. Crawling in my crawl indeed.

>>58719519
Italians getting wise? There's a first. Jests aside, putting Pokemon into WWII's definitely a fun idea, not unlike Drifter's foray into the American Civil War.

>the entire British line is in chaos
More chaos that it already was, that is to say.

>>58720267
Solid enough concept.
>>
>>58720267
As long as it doesn't take away from the mystery or steps on any writers toes, I'd say go for it. An explanation for mega stones isn't immersion breaking, like explaning the whole premise, like what that Mew story did. I also like, that legendaries are not just turnees, but a force of nature, like Elder Dragons in Monster Hunter. Could lead to some cryptid greens, where someone innawoods gets trolled by an Uxie or something.
>>
>>58720267
I would personally prefer if legendary pokemon just don't appear, or if they do aren't written out of character. I don't want wise-cracking Groudon. This isn't a bad explanation for legendary pokemon though if they were to ever appear in a story.

This explaination really works for certain legendaries, but yeah. It does work pretty well for anything that isn't expressly man made or not gods of something(IE: the Tapus.)

I know Moltres is said to heal from taking a dunk in a volcano, but Entei's the one who's described as having the heated passion of magma and also their barks erupt volcanoes. Also, one of the dex entries even states that it's said that one is born every time a volcano erupts.
>>
>>58721319
Just thought a giant fire bird being born from a volcano made sense.
And for some poetic irony that a gen 1 legendary is being created in Kanto.
>>
>>58721354
I mean, I guess that makes sense. Or maybe it wasn't born, but simply heralded the eruption? Showed up a day before the eruptions and then stuck around?

Mega stones were just going to show up as a random replacement of crystals in my story. Big enough collection of them in one place and well...

>>58720831
Yeah legendaries are incredibly hard to write as characters. Its why I never liked gods being more than esoteric forces in fiction, because if you can kill a god then it isn't really a god. Also PMD fics just soured me on legendaries in general outside of a few cases where they were used well.

I think the one's with more mundane powers could work in one of these stories though.

Mainly some rps and a few greentexts, my attempts at writing just kinda stick to me trying to worldbuild for vidya projects as of late. Haven't published a proper "big" thing until now though.

This >>58719221 was me by the by, I do have a very strong bias towards legendary or big powerful stuff (most of my writing is the direct aftermath of me listening to final boss themes on loop), and I do think like there's some potential with Lucario Z thematically speaking with some aspects of Kartanon I wanna explore, like I said though, gotta find a good enough excuse before I jump ahead on that front. I know I've already been kinda skirting the line of "no legendaries" with Kartana and throwing more into the mix would probably be overboard but... I promise I have some interesting ideas and hope you'll bear with me if they come to pass in the story.

>>58721311

You're tempting me to ramble unendingly about Mesoamerican deities and Japanese ones, which are also kinda why I'd like bringing more legendaries into the mix. I'll find a way to make it work, I swear.
>>
>>58721479
>because if you can kill a god then it isn't really a god
This fact is only shared by a very select few religions. Even the Greeks had mortal gods(albeit they only died if people stopped believing in them.)

I'm aware. I just have weird tastes in fiction and like gods being esoteric forces of reality rather than really strong dudes. Leave that to their champions, or whatever divine creature spawns from mortal worship due to what they believe its is they're worshipping (Honestly the way PoE does the Atlas of Worlds conflict is an example of something similar that I like).

Waking up to more Meowscarada. Love to see it. Love the description of the city and how this game is treated as a performance. Gives the scene energy. Also, is this a new Lucario? Funny to see another one who's clearly more formal than our vigilante

>>58725590
This is such a stupid thought running through my head now, but how does Dante react to all of this? I mean throwing him in this setting implies all the lore of DMC as well and that's all a mess. Do transformed pokemon make good demon hunters?
>>
>>58726144
Great update, always look forward to more gambling!

Alex's thoughts reading up on Meowscarada made me chuckle, I wonder where those socks are going. I like him having to find his own showman's gimmick, guess once the novelty of magical talking creatures wears off you gotta figure out a way to keep people around. Card tricks is the most obvious choice, so its easy to see how Alex landed on that first. Interesting to learn that they're being recorded to prevent them from accidentally giving the players an advantage, makes sense though. And poor Jean, I doubt being that sensitive to negative emotions is fun when you work at a casino.
>>
>>58726044
I was wondering if card tricks might get you in trouble. Casinos are serious business.
The line about being an entertainer got me thinking that a Pokemon pro wrestler would probably be a cool idea I’m too busy to write about.
>>58726144

A new casino story bit, hooray!
I find it amusing that turnees look themselves up to get a grip on their own situation. I would think that the instincts would be the key indicator for finding out the intricacies of their new bodies. But honestly, I like your approach more.

>>58726144
Poor Jean... must be nerve racking to be in that situation. Give that gal a bow or some fake eyelashes, and an emotional support Companion Cube, pronto!
>supportive husband
Big W, a Chad amongst Chads!

I also just realised something. Except for the parents of Lucarioanon and Kayden's dad, all the families were supportive until now. Very wholesome, but also makes me crave some family drama.
>>
>>58726903
Yes, definitely a new Lucario. I felt that the overwhelming influence of Aura probably wouldn’t be something everyone can handle as easily as our OG Lucario.
>>58727081
>Interesting to learn that they're being recorded to prevent them from accidentally giving the players an advantage
I thought this was more common knowledge, but every table has at least one dedicated surveillance camera along with dozens on the rest of the floor watching all the machines. This is to help identify criminals, find people who have been trespassed or put on the voluntary exclusion list to kick them out, identify dealers making mistakes, keep track of chips, and crack down on cheating by either the player, the dealer, or both in collusion.
>>58727435
A pro wrestling syndicate with Pokémon would probably be as close as you could get to legal battles.

Author lore dump for anyone that cares:
I turned 21 while I was in college during COVID so after not being able to go anywhere to celebrate, my autistic ass decided to learn as much as possible about how casinos work instead. Frankly, this reads more like some kind of schizophrenia.
Now that I think about it, some of the stories having more involved Pokémon instincts, like Kartanon and Lucarioanon, makes me wonder if it *is* some kind of schizophrenia. Because there are also a lot of cases where the instincts feel more like reflexes and urges, like LarKurt, Emma, and Fedoark.
Amaro could be on either side, we just don't know (yet).
Simon and Myriim would probably fall into the first category, same as MachoMan Charlie with the intrusive thoughts.
ProfD is probably in the latter category, as is possably a lot of the gambling den cast and Matsui.
Ben is definitely a schizo, the poor lad.
Dunno about Kayden. We still need some info on that.
As for Etienne, I haven't decided yet.

>>58729375
>Emma has no instincts

They all have varying flavors of schizo too, it’s been interesting to see the differences in these mental battles (or lack thereof).

PIPS, now that's a medical term I can get behind! Way better than calling random transformees schizo.

>varying flavors of schizo
Agreed. It's an endearing topic and one I want to exploit/explore in my story to some capacity as well.

>Oh poor Simon. Everyone in that forest is going absolutely crazy.
Considering the cliffhanger at the end of the last chapter, I'm really looking forward to your next chapter. Some crazyness in an otherwise serene forest sounds perfect.
