It's the artist that changed from Mato to Yamamoto around volume 13.I also forgot Yamamoto's avatar used to be a Slowpoke, this is the first authors notes I could find where he changed it to Swalot which has now been his main icon for decades. If you see those little drawings with an Electrode and Swalot hanging out, usually at the end of every volume or on the inner cover, it's Kusaka and Yamamoto's avatars.

Meanwhile the Yellow arc still seems popular though I don't know how much of it is from fans of Yellow the character. Either way the tone of the series has fluctuated a lot across time, so the Mato era will appeal more or less to different types of people.
