It was probably my first proper interaction/playthrough with Pokemon Silver.I borrowed it from my friend for the whole summer and it was the best thing ever. Despite playing on an original Gameboy and lacking all the lush colors, it was a great experience. Every inch of the trail was a discovery big or small. I remember how i'd get excited like a dork whnever i've gotten yet another Swinub egg from the daycare after discovering breeding, how i'd finally manage to beat Whitney, Clair and Karen in spite my poor english and stupid kid logic of mostly using your starter for everything, the game corner, TWO REGIONS, waking up every morning to pick up that one ball Kurt has made for me, the heart attack inducing encounters with roaming legendaries.Im summarizing a bit here but i think tons of people out there can strongly relate to all that so they definitely understand what i mean.

I guess it was when I managed to figure out the Sinjoh Ruins event in HGSS by myself (after trading a cheated-in Arceus from my friend, naturally). No internet, no guides, just rubbing my two adolescent brain cells together and figuring out that maybe the ancient mythological god Pokemon had something to do with that ancient mythological ruin over there. It's the closest thing to having one of those dumb Pokemon urban legends come true right in front of me. I got so excited that I smuggled my DS into class the next day just to flex on the friend I'd traded that Arceus with.That save is long gone by now, but it still remains one of my core Pokemon memories to this day.

It's not exactly specific but Azalea Town at night is a core memory for me for some reason. I think it's why I like Slowpoke and Forretress so much. But being there with the song playing just randomly pops into my head semi regularly whenever I think of Pokemon. Might be that it's where I first experienced the Day/Night feature and it felt like the possibilities were endless.

She was also female like my old Gastrodon was. So I evolved her and shiny Gastrodon looks so fucking cute in 3D.
