>>58725094I don’t know if you remember, but if you look back at old message boards, before the movie and Emerald came out, Deoxys and Rayquaza were despised initially, and were called ugly, not Pokemon, and so on. It wasn’t until they were put into important roles in basically every medium that the fans did a 180 on them. Anecdotally, I’ve now seen the exact same people who shat on Zygarde as a nothingburger back in 2018 or so, now praising it as one of the best legendary designs and lores of all time, even though very little has changed beyond the attention the company gives to it. Marketing goes a long way.
