Hot take, regional variants shouldn't have happened, but instead if a Pokemon from another region evolves in say, Kanto, that should trigger a new evolution. Exeggutor in Alola should have been a new Pokemon or Exeggcute should have evolved into Exeggutor and then evolve into the Alolan form.
