Anyone been trying out some of the new moves online? Noticed quite a few have long wind-ups for massive power which seem pointless since either A) you’ll be killed before getting the shot off or B) whoever you’re targeting will be killed

You generally want as much role compression as possible on your team. Meaning Clefairy is a meme. It can't do damage and will only be set up on. If you need a screens setter, go for Clefable. With that you have some offensive presence. Especially after a mega.

I am now ready to start preparing to gear up so I can play the game.

Anyone try Ceruledge in Ranked yet? On paper it seemingly covers my team's weakness to Metagross (aside from fucking Earthquake), but it might just be another Charizard situation where it's more a liability because it's weak to fucking everything and can't OHKO. I really want a somewhat decent fire type in this game aside from Chandaleure.

So is Toxtricity just doomed in the Z-A Competitive Ranked because of its 4x weakness to Ground since literally fucking everything knows Earthquake? It seems like a really good counter for Xerneas on paper. I've been having a blast with it in the story since I got lucky with an Alpha early on in the DLC, and it very much fits the Punk Rocker aesthetic I was going for with my trainer. Anyone got strategies? I saw one with giving it endure to survive EQ while holding a Weakness Policy, but I love Charge + Overdrive too much so I'd rather use Focus Sash instead for the surprise payback and I need one slot for Poison and the Alpha radius for Boomburst is insane so I don't want to sacrifice any of that.

Really debating if I want to be a huge dick in competitive by slapping Sheer Cold on an Alpha with Quick Claw. A confirmed freezing move with huge radius and reduced charge time could be insane.

Season 4 is up!

Tried using a number of the new ‘mons and they don’t stack up at all. At best you’re doing half damage even with your most powerful attack otherwise but you die in one hit to just about everything. Even baxcalibur gets deleted by garchomp with dragon rush or earthquake

thanks for the advice friends. I've been testing squakabilly builds but I focused too much on support.

I'm using an EV HP/Atk alpha Tinkaton and I realized that I didn't switch it's nature to +Atk before battling.
Ice Hammer wasn't able to ohko dragonite or garchomp for that reason. Maybe it could with +Atk. Gigaton attack area seems good enough but I didn't find myself using it that much. Used SD and Brick Break but I didn't use BB all that much. She's has really bad movement speed. She was getting completely obliterated by EQ from chomp, swampert and bax.

Giga impact, parting shout, bulk up and brave bird work for me.

There is a world were aerial ace or lunge get you into a + giga impact but I like shouting to lower offenses and reposition too much.

Planning to jump into Ranked tonight and try a few different team set ups with new mons, but I just need to know for team planning -Are Metagross and Garchomp still the top of the meta that I need to plan around or is everything still getting settled with the newer mons that there are no definite leaders yet?

Thanks anons. Got a couple teams in mind of new mons that I want to try out, I'll report back on which ones work. Not too worried because you can be ass in competitive and still get to high rank pretty easily, this game is honestly way too forgiving on that. On the one hand it's nice because it fosters variety and playing around with teams, but also I feel there should be some penalty for 4th at the very least.

The players running auto-battle macros are actually ruining ranked. I've just had a game where two of the other three players were using them. And of course nothing will ever be done to address this because there's no report function. Feels awful

I haven't even finished Violet yet so there's no point in keeping up with them. I play games at my own pace and I'll go back to it when I feel like it. I'm not going to rush through a game just to keep up with the forced FOMO events.

Tried numerous new mons in competitive, but pretty much all of them get destroyed by the previously established meta. The only ones that seem to have broken through that I saw on numerous teams were Gholdengo, Annihilape, Baxcalibur and Swampert. Though personally, I really enjoy Corviknight as a Dual Screens setter and a surprise sneak attack on the occasional Fighting types or Gardevoirs. Think it's underrated as hell.

I've seen a lot of them on ranked. Meteor Assault from what I can tell has the highest travel distance in the game and Porygon Z and 2 do what you would expect them to do.

Finally did the Wake and Leaves raid.
Fortunate to have a Lure and Friend ball too. Didn't actually start playing the game until May this year.
