>Pokemon is too difficulty! The games should be harder! The games have built in difficulty options that people choose to disregard. You can choose to solo level 1 Pokemon and basically steam roll the game, or you can train a diverse team to have more of a challenge along with having more thought put into battles. You can choose to use NFE pokemon, and doing so even has the benefit of providing moves you otherwise might not have for awhile. Lower stats force you into more carefully considering your moves instead of just being able to press A to win.HMs (for most? of the series) are mandatory. They are usually not so great moves that you have to sacrifice a move slot for to traverse the overworld (balancing the purpose of your pokemon with battles and world exploration). This forces you to more carefully consider what moves are used for each Pokemon. You can choose whether or not to use healing items or not. You could spam full restores, or you could limit yourself to just using healing moves. You are able to make a conscious choice whether or not you want to play the game on baby easy mode or not.All of this is INTENTIONALLY designed for you to consider as you play the game. Choosing to use a team of pseudo legendaries and complaining that the games are too easy is your problem. This isn't arbitrary self restriction like a nuzlocke--this are design choices that the game flat out has NPCs tell you.
>it's hard if you don't use anything the game gives you bro
>>58734172playing like a retard isn’t a difficulty optionjust give me battle facilities like emerald and XY back.
>>58734172That's great and all, too bad the game streamlined itself from an already simple state into piss baby mode as the years went by.>You can choose to solo level 1 Pokemon and basically steam roll the game, or you can train a diverse team to have more of a challenge along with having more thought put into battles. Now you can steamroll with a full team because of EXP share mechanics, and even skip the hassle of raising up weaker shitters into their strong final forms because they'll just mooch EXP off of everyone else, better yet, EXP candies exist now.>You can choose to use NFE pokemon, and doing so even has the benefit of providing moves you otherwise might not have for awhile. Lower stats force you into more carefully considering your moves instead of just being able to press A to win.Now as of current, there's not even a real punishment for evolving anymore because of how good and abundant TMs are. Stone evolutions and fringe cases like Breloom are no longer fucked for evolving ASAP either.>HMs (for most? of the series) are mandatory. They are usually not so great moves that you have to sacrifice a move slot for to traverse the overworld (balancing the purpose of your pokemon with battles and world exploration). This forces you to more carefully consider what moves are used for each Pokemon. And now they don't exist, period.>You can choose whether or not to use healing items or not. You could spam full restores, or you could limit yourself to just using healing moves. And now you don't need either because the game is constantly giving you free heals, even when you don't ask for them.
>>58734196gen 7 and 9 are both harder than gen 5
>>58734203>gen 7Only USUM. SM is piss baby easy to solo with your starter.>gen 9You can solo SV with a Flamigo, a Pokemon you can catch as soon as you're out of the tutorial, thanks to it being a really good type combo with great level-up moves and the overwhelming existence of EXP candies.
>I want to participate in a lifting competition>"Thats cool broheem, you should lift with your back, lock your legs, and hold your breath to make this more challenging for yourself!">why not just challenge more difficult oponents>"HAHAHA ARE YOU SCARED OF?? too pissbaby easy for you? lMAO!!!"
>>58734208>Only USUMNope, all of it. Even LGPE.>You solo SV with a FlamigoYou can solo gen 5 with literally any Pokemon and gen 5 doesn’t have the benefit of actually letting you fight higher level gyms early because the game railroads you like a retarded toddler.
>>58734211True, why even have mainline games after Champions releases? They should just focus on their new dedicated PVP game, forget Gen 10 entirely because it serves zero purpose since people only want to battle other players, not dance around piss baby easy NPCs with retard AI who are too braindead to prevent a setup sweep.
If we're talking about difficulty, I really like ZA's DLC approach. The subspaces get large level boots, so choosing to use weaker donuts lets me use all of my favorite strategies without giving anything up. The double flare subspace fight was one of the hardest matches I've had so far because I was using a 2 min donut that gave like, +13 levels while they were set to lvl 145.Killing them in under two minutes was the hardest part because of those STUPID FUCKING TRANSFORMATIONS breaking up the flow of battle. I wish they just gave invincibility like online ranked did while everything else remains in motion. But it was still fun.
Pokemon fans don't really want difficulty. Look at difficulty hacks, they think they're difficult but the majority of them have bloated routes stuffed with unlimited options to tackle whatever challenge comes your way. A real difficulty hack would follow the philosophy of Diamond and Pearl, having a dex that's not only small but quite restricted. Pokemon Garbage Green comes close to what a difficult game should try to be. No one wants that though, look how tards like yawnfag bitch and whine about muh pokemon distributions.
>>58734196Anything past gen 2 isn't canon anyways
>>58734172>HMs (for most? of the series)Obviously it is. There are more generations with HMs than not. The fact that you don’t know this voids the rest of your blogpost.
>>58734272I could hang myself over the number of times i heard people talk about Radical Red being a good difficulty hack, only for them to literally spreadsheet their way to a victory and run damage calculators on everything. A hard game shouldn't necessitate supplemental material in order to advance.
>>58734272aren't most difficulty hacks just unfair bullshit?People want GOOD difficult games, not just difficulty for the sake of difficulty.
Pokémon games aren't hard. You're a sissy faggot if you think otherwise. Everyone ITT needs rape correction.
The same people who say the games should be harder because they're "too easy" are the same people who shit themselves when a slow Pokemon has a double weakness FYI.
>>58734172Honestly I think the biggest difficulty jump in Pokemon is moving from Switch to Set. I still lose matches in the Battle Tower occasionally because of that
>>58734734Proof?
>>58734172Hamstringing yourself doesn't make the game more fun, battles where you have to use your whole team are, and to do that you would have to stop the game from being a gauntlet
>>58734193>just give me battle facilities like emerald and XY back.>XYblud thinks he's on the team
>>58734193>having fun is playing like a retard
>>58734284gen 1*
>LGPE is harder than gen 5>XY's battle facilitiesoh it's one of those threads huh
>>58735111Playing like a retard isn’t fun.
>>58734172>bro just play the game as a level one wretch with a club bro
I like BW2 a lot, but are we really going to pretend the key system for difficult wasn't retarded as fuck?
>>58735111If a game thats supposed to challenge you is too easy, thats bad game design. Self-imposed challenges are just excuses for bad games
>>58734172i do agree with a fair amount of these and usually do them myself, but as >>58734196 points out this is largely a non-factor in most later titles. nearly everything is either outright balanced around or simply rendered a nonfactor by extension of other ways they've made the games easier. you also forgot to mention switch vs set AKA the closest thing we have to actual difficulty settings beyond bw2.>>58735314speaking of, this still makes me mad because they're never, ever going to try again after their own incompetence made it flop. absolutely no reason for it to be both version and postgame locked.although as botched as the actual in-game execution was(stats not matching level luhmao), i do really like how challenge mode still buffed major fights... i was too stupid as a 10y/o to even think about healing in between, let alone save scumming the black1 elite four but i could still do it eventually with my shitty team of emolga basculin unfezant sawk boldore and thundurus, whereas i legitimately struggled to do the same in my recent black2 challenge mode run even with explicit planning because of the better ai, extra 5th member and competitive items they all get(although actually having to fight the champion in bw2 certainly helps). i especially remember caitlin's metagross being a bitch.
>>58734193hi yawnfag
>>58734172The real difficulty in pokemon comes from two areas. Your speed stat, and the opponent's movepool. If you're slower, you get hit. If the movepool is from a recent game, you'll get hit hard. There's a big reason challenge runs you see on the youtubes aren't from recent gens. That's because they're actually tough because of the two above. Power creep hit even the vanilla games hard. If you go in following a level cap, using nfe pokemon for a lower speed stat, or even hold a lagging tail as an extra fuck you and disregard the two before, you'll have a genuinely good time. All that said? The games are now and always have been baby's first rpg. Pokemon as a concept exists to show kids that animals and bugs are cool. To rope the next generation of neurodivergent kids into the franchise. Us old farts who've stuck with it for decades are not the target consumer of the games. We're the target consumer of the merchandising. It's why the pokemon center releases life sized dolls of gardevoir and lucario. It's why their primt cycles for the cards are optimized for scalping. It's why their gen-one arcanine themed christmas sweater comes in 4xl. The games aren't made to be good for adults and veterans of the franchise. They're made to keep the infinite money glitch that is merchandising running for another half decade.
