Because one's aimed at adults and one's aimed at kids, which adults have no compunction about "stepping down" to play. Why don't you go play things that look like that and target your age group? You're not going to get anything like that from Pokémon any time soon.

Dragon Quest is kid's franchise and
Dragon Quest Monsters, a series even more explicitly for kids and made hot from the heels of pokemania, on the DS was more "advanced" than any pokemon game on the same system
