If you talk to him throughout various points in the story he talks about how much he’s changed since the MC came to Lumiose. According to Korrina, he’s actually a really reliable guy.

I didn't like how he could suddenly perfectly deal with and manipulate Grisham, Jacinthe, and Ivor/Canari to an extent despite being told in the base game that he's bad at stuff like that.
