There was some official Porygon twitter post in the japanese side recently (completely unrelated to anime) and I saw some JP comments saying that it's irresponsible promoting it or something. There's definitely people that are still hurt about Porygon line in Japan. Well, Gamefreak clearly likes Porygon, they even added a new Porygon sidequest in ZA
