This is on top of having occasional shitmons with OHKO moves that solely exist to flank you as a way to kill your streak and make you restart from scratch. It goes against the initial point of Pokemon altogether, picking shit up off the side of the road and training it to be the very best it can be. So writing RPG dialogue for a system that is an inferior version of the console battle sims is just insanely half-hearted design. You're not accomplishing anything plot wise, you're basically just spinning your wheels for crumbs of a reward that's designed as deliberate padding because they couldn't be assed to design an actually fun way to challenge players after a piss easy main game. You can't just fight the Facility characters and learn more about them the normal way an RPG does its writing, you get a couple win/loss lines, some NPCs talking about their lore and that's fucking it
