Like, if they wanted to portray the situation as kind of dark and abusive they should have done that consistently. But everything else in the game is cutesy and funny with totally manufactured stakes. And so when you suddenly reference this character, who is the butt of a bunch of jokes, considering suicide, it's such a huge shift and does feel kind of mean spirited and tone deaf. Almost like how modern spongebob treated squidward

I thought it was just Lebanne commenting on her current life situation, she can't defeat Jacinthe to get freed, but she refuses to accept aid because her pride will only allow her to defeat Jacinthe personally. She's at a dead end, both metaphorically and literally (because she climbed to a spot that leads nowhere in Hyperspace Lumiose).
