What if 100% of your favourites occupy that 20%? Unless your favourites are Gyarados and Pikachu, you're almost guaranteed to be locked out from using some bros. Or most of them. I've made peace with dexit, but I'm not going to pretend like it doesn't matter. If your favourite is missing for two gens in a row, then it matters a lot.

Already do that. Turns out you can chew gum and walk at the same time. I don't need to be forced to use new mons, and having new favourites doesn't make the old ones obsolete. You know this already, we all know that this. It worked for 20+ years and it was a good thing. Even when we got 150 new mons in BW, they still included the other 493 for the post game.

That's not the issue here, it's the number of pokemon, or rather your personal feeling of "completeness".

A big reason why Pokemon is successful and makes boatloads of money is because people create these emotional connections through emergent storytelling. Exploring is gameplay. The game literally spells this out in the opening sequence. "For some people, Pokemon are pets. Others use them for fights.". Gen 2 introduced baby Pokemon that were designed to be useless in battle, and specifically made to appeal to girls. They were designed to be like pets or dolls. That emotional attachment was a feature, not a bug. For some players, breeding for cute shiny pokemon is the gameplay. There's a whole cottage industry of people who just hunt shiny Pokemon. Limiting the available Pokemon impacts that gameplay. They were never just interchangeable pieces for playing battle chess.

Don't buy the lie from GF that dex cuts are important for balance. Don't act like region-specific ecology is more important to players than having access to all their favourites. It's an obvious excuse. It was always an excuse, it was always about cutting corners and reducing their workload.

Dexit is a gameplay issue if you play Pokemon like a pet sim. It's no different than Nintendogs omitting your favourite breed. If you just want to raise and play with a Chihuahua, and it's not in the game, then it drastically impacts gameplay.

If they're willing to cut out Pokémon and gaslight us into thinking that it's a good thing, what's stopping them from cutting more corners? You've already seen it happen with the issues you've listed and I've already brought up an example of how else they can further cut corners by removing aspects of competitive battling. By accepting dexit and thinking that it's no big deal, you're also accepting the use of jpeg buildings, etc. because you're telling GF that it's ok to cut corners like that.
