I no longer want to play VGC thanks to Z-A’s innovative battle system.I kept wondering why comp never made me feel like a trainer and once I played Z-A I realized that Turn based comp barely reflects what I imagine Pokemon battling to be. Positioning, movement, targeting…not just chess simulator. 9/10 game

The new style of combat is a lot more fun for an ingame playthrough than the typical turn-based affair, although I think the strategy of turn-based battles is better for something like a battle facility where there’s actual challenge (as if we’re getting one of those again lmao), no postgame is once again an issue.The DLC is also pretty fun and I enjoy the gameplay loop there. Haven’t finished it though because I’ve been shiny hunting something over the last few days.Granted I’m playing on Switch 2 and happened to get the game for basically free excluding the DLC so my opinion would probably be different if I were locked at 30 FPS or paid a pretty penny for the game.Solid 6.5/10, easily the best in the Switch era which is something. Actually manages to give me a sliver of hope for Gen 10.

I definitely enjoyed it more than I did the past two generations of pokemon, even if I enjoyed previous legends game more.It's not a title I would recommend to anyone else who isn't autistically into pokemon, though. Pokemon games as a whole have never really been good. Even the classic GB versions were bad compared to other jrpgs. This one's no different. But if you like pokemon, you're probably used to their low quality games. If so, ZA is one of the more enjoyable ones.
