I enjoy it for the most part and think they knocked it out of the park with remixes like the one for Azalea Town. Otherwise, the whole ‘le quirky big band’ trend of the late 2000s aged like milk and makes me feel like I’m in a Pixar movie instead of Johto. Cherrygrove lost it’s dreamlike feel. Goldenrod sounds dead inside. The battle themes sound goofy and lack the hype of the original games. Where was the sovl from DPPt?
I hate the changes they made to the Johto wild battle theme. The intro is even longer than the original and more messy. Yet it's the part you will hear over and over again until you get repels.

>>58762513I'll at least give them props for doing things like making the Kanto trainer theme be a remix of the entire gen 1 version instead of a short loop and adding Cerulean City and Cinnabar Island themes. Generally Kanto got the better remixes
They somehow made the level curve even worse. With badge boosts and the bad AI in the original most pokemon were actually usable. In HGSS you legitimately are stuck with the Ampharos Gyarados meme
