Every once in a while Pokémon will get a "cooler" design to appeal to older kids and adults, though, like box legends.For OP's image specifically, it's because Digimon is inspired by 90s American comic book aesthetics and purposefully makes their characters detailed because it's meant to harshly contrast with the parent franchise it spun off of: Tamagotchi
