>we'll never get a pixel art Pokemon game again

How does this make your feel
>>
>>58772642
Considering gen 5’s pixel art looked objectively terrible, pretty good, actually.
>>
>>58772642
I don’t feel anything. It’s not like pixel art would suddenly make game freak be competent
>>
graphical style is at this point at the very ass-bottom of my list of pokémon game concerns

Some anon here said it better, but it's frustrating because market pressure forced 3D and larger games even if GF isn't cut out for it.

There's many, many people who'll only be happy if it looks like Detective Pikachu in unreal engine with crafting and open world gameplay, and they will voice how that's what GF should do even if they won't buy the game.

The concept of an undersized but dense with detail game is not something these people can wrap their minds around. Nor can they conceive a large franchise not being something they're into. And for others, they hate a Japanese game looking Japanese and think it should be realistic. This causes them frustration and annoyance, and to tell focus tests that they need realism and 3D to have fun when they can't even make compromises of their own.

This. I personally like the spritework better, but its not inherently better or worse. There's bigger problems to solve.

hi yawnfag
>>
A lot of pokemon suffered in the transfer to 3d but that's mostly because GF didn't put in the work to make their animations interesting enough.

ZA did a lot for retooling animations and making them much more interesting. Dublade's everything just looks amazing now.

I think we probably will at some point actually. Gamefreak knows the value of nostalgia and when to roll it out. They're just holding on to it as a 'break glass in case of emergency' option.

this

Necessity is the mother of invention. Game freak is just another example in the long line of developers enabled to be lazy and stupid by extremely advanced modern hardware and software.

Outside of Kantooo pandering when has GF ever even acknowledged their roots? To them the pixel games don't even exist

>outside of constantly pandering to their roots, when has GF ever acknowledged their roots?
a lot, actually

That's not GF retard, that's the Pokemon Company social media crew
>>
>>58774015
ok, and who is in charge of producing and publishing the Pokemon games, dipshit? so, the Pokemon Company knows the value of nostalgia then. and if they feel like it's time to tap that well, they'll tell Gamefreak to do it, or bypass them entirely and contract a 3rd party studio to, like they've done for the many spinoffs. I doubt it will be anytime soon because the games are selling better than ever, but I imagine it will happen at some point down the line. I wouldn't be surprised if they collaborated with Square to make a 2D-HD game. working with Bandai on Pokken shows they're open to those kinds of projects with other big studios.

and Gamefreak constantly includes references to Kanto in the games anyway, and yes, referencing Kanto IS acknowledging their roots, Kanto IS the roots and they acknowledge it all the time.

>ok, and who is in charge of producing and publishing the Pokemon games, dipshit?
Not the Pokemon Company social media crew
>so, the Pokemon Company knows the value of nostalgia then.
Not Game Freak

>and Gamefreak constantly includes references to Kanto in the games anyway, and yes, referencing Kanto IS acknowledging their roots, Kanto IS the roots and they acknowledge it all the time.
They acknowledge Kanto because it sold well, not because they like or appreciate the original games' identities and limitations, they consider those flaws they are glad they got to fix and abandon
>>
Doesn't bother me. I lived through the pixel era of video games and am fucking delighted we've left in in the annals of history where it belongs.
Sorry you're an autistic kiddy spazz still, I guess.
>>
>>58772642
why does OP image instantly remind me of Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
>>
>>58772642
Don't mind at all. I have all the old games up to 7th gen in physical form here with all the consoles to play them with. I can play them whenever I want and as a bonus I can name the rival nigger, hitler, faggot or w/e I want and noone can do anything against it.

Isometric perspective and similar style for the faces

And they're damn right. Gen 1 has aged horrendously even compared to Gen 2.
