Holy shit. Before Gen 6 Steel was a fucking unreal defensive force. Dark AND Ghost were both NVE, with only water and electric doing neutral damage.

Keep in mind some people thought the nerf wasn't warranted, and it got a resistance to one of the best types in the game in exchange
>>

Is this real? Why did they change it?
>>
Well the funny thing is Fairy is such an influential type that it's still as good as it used to be, arguably even better. The big downside of Steel was that it was garbage offensively, and now it's one of only 2 ways to hit fairies super effectively, on top of resisting its moves.

It's so ironic that the only 2 types that do neutral damage are Water and Electric, because both of these could probably be SE -- water is a key player in the rusting process, and most metals are good conductors of electricity to the point it's a common video game trope. Would've been fun if it was the only type to take no neutral damage, only immunity, NVE, and SE damage.

rachi was such a fucking pain in the ass back then, we all know about the paraflinch bullshit but CM rachi was genuinely an even better set before the steel nerf

Weren’t they both super effective against steel in the spaceworld beta?

Steel has amazing moves that hit hard. The problem is IF they hit. Most being like 70% accurate.
>>
Steel is still the GOAT typing.

My first game was Black. I am used to Bite doing neutral damage on Steel. I forgot it was NVE in Black.

>Steel has amazing moves
>The problem is IF they hit
if they have accuracy problems sufficient enough to be a significant downside then it's not amazing
>>
>>58775950
They have a chance to stat boost to make up for it.

Rockbros...
>>
>>58776299
>rock seems like an amazing type as a young child because it resists normal moves which make up the bulk of early game attacks
>by the mid game it's far too easy to have at least two or three answers to any rock type you come across
What did Game Freak mean by making it a horrendously shitty defensive type?
>>

Rock still sucks. Even modern games.
