I loved using male salandit in sun. I gave it an eviolite and was glad it didn't evolve; I didn't particularly like Salazzle, so it was very fun having a perma-NFE on my team for a change. Only reason I don't do it more often is just because of it prompting me to stop it from evolving all the time.

Regional form-exclusive evolutions piss me off, but I'm assuaged by the fact that it doesn't necessarily mean the regular forms won't get evolutions later (though that's yet to happen). White-striped Basculin is a different story because it's not a regional form, so Red-striped and Blue-striped Basculegion likely just got cucked out of evolving for no real reason.

A cool example is the trilobite beetle, which the larva and females look like trilobites as the name suggests while the males become a generic beetle.
