Happy new year!GameFreak and a partner studio have been working on a massive game celebrating Pokémon’s history, it will be revealed next month but will not come out this yearYour hero is an older sailor from the Aneji (Gen 10) region who ends up a perilous voyage that sees him stranded in Hoenn, washing up on the beach in Slateport. You are greeted by a purple orb named Mythosphere who tells you that it guided you here to save the world.The maps of Hoenn, Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, the Sevii Islands, Fiore, Oblivia, and Almia are all connected on a massive map that you can explore by land, sea, or sky. You get to study Pokemon migratory patterns, cross from region to region, and even build some structures to camp in. The game is set in the future from all of those regions’ original titles, so you will be exploring newer more modern versions of them.Lots of beloved characters will appear or can be found on your journey, but the gyms and leagues can’t be battled and don’t matter to the story. The story is based around an evil organization called Team Havoc, led by Ariana and Charon who seek to find the Pokemon of myths so that they can unite the whole world as one under their leadership.

Your starter options are Dratini, Bagon, and Gible, with your rival using Frigibax. Mega Evolution is the only combat gimmick, so all of the starters will have their stones available. The dex of the game is pretty much just Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Kitakami’s dexes with very few from outside of them, namely Baxcalibur and Zarude.Every region / zone listed is guarded by a mythical that the Mythosphere will guide you to, as well as reveal mega stones for.Kanto - Mew, Mega Mew turns white and has purple orbs on its hands, feet, and stomachJohto - Celebi, Mega Celebi has colorful flowers blooming from its head, and its body becomes long and twisted like a rose stemHoenn - Jirachi, Mega Jirachi’s ribbons turn very long with inscriptions on them, its eyes are all open and glowingSinnoh - Arceus, Mega Arceus turns black with the structure on its back turning into three prongs that resemble Dialga, Palkia, and GiratinaSevii Islands - Deoxys, Mega Deoxys looks like a fusion of all its forms, hard to describe but very mecha and coolFiore - Manaphy, it becomes very feminine and humanoid, with its egg on its chest and big eyesOblivia - Shaymin, specifically the base form gets the mega, it gains Fairy type and becomes really long with a flowery hedge maze on its backAlmia - Darkrai, its mega has already been shownKitakami - Pecharunt, its mega keeps its interior the same size, but the two peach arms turn into halves of a ghostly dragon headZarude - it gets armor made of vines and a pink mask over its faceNo more new megas, no more new pokemon, any mythical not listed here does not appear in the game
The game is designed to be playable and updated for years to come, with very expansive multiplayer options. There are raid battles, side missions, and Team Havoc outbreaks / takeovers that you can take on with friends or strangers, you can find friends’ structures in your world, and there’s an online mode where you can play with other people in real time, battling or trading in the overworld.The battling is more or less exactly like Z-A, not like WW.The trailer that will drop next month shows a rapidly approaching zoom in to the pokemon planet, and when it reaches the ground Mew shows up and plays in front of the camera for a second before the mega animation starts. As the mega bubble bursts, the screen cuts to text that says “Pokemon Travels, 2027” with the comma here representing a line break.That is all, thank you. Enjoy your new year.
