I think I've reached my breaking point. There is just too much art now. There is no completion in sight. I need advice.I have over 60 GB of archived Fakemon from over 2500 artists, a good chunk of them no longer available on the internet. I must stop doing this, but I feel that I have an obligation to make the archive public. I don't mind paying a yearly fee for cloud storage, but I do fear copyright strikes. I also wouldn't mind handing it off to someone or a group of people.I've put myself in quite the predicament. I don't mind it. It wasn't a waste of time, but I need to move on.
>>58810789You realize /vp/ has archives, right? If you upload them here, under a searchable title, then they will remain accessible barring catastrophe.
>>58810798Upload 65 GB of pngs from over 2500 artists?
Nigga 60GB is fucking nothing.
>>58810822It's a lot when you want to process half of these for collages to ease access, possibly even naming the files to ensure searchability. Storing it is not an issue. I need a cloud that can protect the archives from theoretical copyright strikes, though.
>>58810789https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07T5XGWZY
>>58810836Just make a booru hosted on some third world shithole and ignore all takedowns.
>>58811000Okay, now that's interesting. Any specific suggestions? Anyone have any experience with this?
>Poochyena next please.Since you have all the original art per Pokemon family, couldn't you put all of them into individual .ZIP files? Then zip those by region? You could then upload them to MegaUpload or someplace else and leave the links here for others to download based on region. .ZIP compression should help with upload size as well.Would not be a gallery for easy viewing, but would be a potentially quick and dirty way to offload.
>>58811140So I have a Deviantart, a Twitter, an Instagram, a YouTube, a pixiv, a tumblr, a Reddit, and an Other folder. Inside there are the artist folders. I use the Tag Folder software that lets me tag the folders, which helps me know if an artist is active or has art that I need to process for the collages. Inside the artist maps there is a map for mons that are related to existing ones. These have the background removed and cropped, these are the ones you see on the collages. Each artist has their own collage as well.I've read that Mega will delete your public stuff if it gets copyright claimed, which is what I want to avoid. I don't mind a clean offload if I can guarantee that the archive will live on.
>>58810789Idk how to help you, but I respect your efforts in media preservation. Hope you find a feasible solution.
>>58810803You could, but also if you're making collages of all of these you'd only need to upload a bit over a thousand images, which you could do with just seven threads. You could also just post them casually across fakemon threads until you run out so you don't have to just sit there and dump them all at once.
>>58811177Maybe 1fichier?
>>58811209I don't like that I need to convert them to jpgs. The final versions should exist online as they are. There are not many left that are under 3.6 MB.>>58811193Thank you>>58811213I'll look into it
turtwig line pls
>>58811314Good night now, please keep the advice coming.
your favorite pokemon is uuuh i forgotpost your favorite pokemon
>>58810789Do you have one for Unova original Dragon?
>>58810982I appreciate seeing all these mega flygonso I can call them all TRASH at the same time. They're fucking god awful
Don't have any real advice but wanna say these are really cool anon. Do you have an Aggron one?
stuff like this makes me wish there was like a dedicated fakemon website where all artists would just post their own fakemon there and tag them. so you could easily look for all torterra fakemon, or turtwig line fakemon, or original fakemon based on certain traits, etc.
>>58810789Can't Mega hold em?Anyways, hopefully you can manage to stop. From how you are coming off, it seems this became less of a hobby and more of a compulsion you can't break from.
CHARIZAAAAARD from KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO pls
>>58811877Kyurem
>>58812021Thanks, of course
>>58812480PokéOs did try this, but I don't think it was a big success, a lot of artists are horrible at marketing their work. They post multiple fakemon as a slideshow, usually with a simple baby first, no description or tags, they flood their media tab with nonsense gifs, so it's a pipe dream to expect them to come together and create a usable archive.>>58811487I think I always say Beedrill.
>>58812563I was gonna pick MEGA as well, their cheapest plan offers way more storage than I need, but I've read that they take down your DMCA'd stuff with no hesitation.I still enjoy it, there is still a lot of great art, but I'm inevitably growing up. Covid is no more, I have friends and hobbies, and I am perceived as a serious, responsible guy. I just need to close this chapter of my life. I've been building fandoms since I was a kid, singlehandedly created decently large wikis, then just stopped one day cause my work felt complete. No end in sight here, though, just a very different scenario overall.>>58813130
>>58810789Do you only collect art of fakemon that are alterations of existing pokemon, or do you also collect art of original fakemon?>>58813204Another problem with mega is that they rate limit anyone without an account to i think 2gbs of downloads a day, so even if you did host there, it would take some people a month just to download it. Granted I don't know of any place that won't throw at least some fit over downloading that much, quickly, but most other places I've seen wait until 5-10gbs. I imagine it'll be obscure enough that anyone that would report it for dmca likely wouldn't see it anytime soon, but if you think it's likely enough to happen within a month, then that's something to consider.
>>58813688I have all the original Fakemon of all the artists, yes (Cerulebell included). I'm really feeling like the way to go is to only have the collages public, and maybe give people a way to reach out if they are interested in continuing the project. Because the hard part is done, upkeep takes a while, but sometimes I can process like 7k new entries within a few days. For a team, communicating on Discord or wherever, even just going through the artists twice a year, would not be much of a hassle. But I guess, why would they do that? It's really all too much. No way your brain can actually process all the artistry displayed. So yeah, right now I'm leaning towards a Google Drive where the folders are private but the collages are accessible via link.
>>58813711Do you think you could do a collage of all of the fakemons from Smogon CAP?>https://www.smogon.com/dex/sv/formats/cap/
>>58813734I don't see any chance of me doing collages of mons that aren't related to existing ones, sorry.
Would love to update the Hoenn starters I have saved.
>>58814233A fair request
>>58814233
>>58814233and done

>>58810789You can upload any size on mega.io but users can only download 20gb so maybe you can compress it. Then just do the amount of generations until your reach 20gb and make a separate one for it.
>>58814430
>>58810789I really wish the Pokemon company wouldn't cuck themselves over having to not do a line because a fan did it first. Can't wait to see the Eevee line you'll drop
>>58810789do you plan on doing anything with them? If you're just saving them there shouldn't be any copyright issues
>>58813177close enough, thanks
>>58814290>>58814295>>58814298My hero. You already uploaded Trapinch, Shinx, and Mightyena. Think the only one I have saved left is the Dragon Eeveelutions.
>>58815348wdym close enough, it's all of them I have>>58814546I used to get called stupid for saying fan designs was a big reason why we stopped getting corss-gen evos, and the Teraleak confirmed it. Terrifying to think that creating all the Eeveelution collages might have a chance to kill future evos. At the same time, stuff like Ursaluna, Archaludon and Kingambit are leagues above the complexity of the typical fan evos, so I hope they figured it out.Had to drop the quality on this one a lot.>>58815336I don't plan on making any money off of it and no versions of the collages exist without proper credits. Still, some fan artists still don't like that. I'm more so afraid of just enough people complaining, a tweet going viral and the cloud service just taking it down to not deal with it. I don't know how realistic that is.
>>58815528Pain in the ass to categorize these
I think I forgot to upload these the last time
People put the least amount of thought into this one
I was surprised by how consistent the archetypes have been, pretty decent, wonder what they'd actually choose. I wouldn't mind a Spore-using mushroom evo.
One of these might have killed the Gen 7 Eeveelution. I gotta say I really would love a bat or flying squirrel like evo here, but GF for sure would do clouds on wing ears.
Whichever direction they'll go, it's guaranteed to be one of the most beloved mons ever.
I also have one for fan types, but they are not categorized yet.

>>58821963Thanks, anon.Weird how there are so many Mothman for variants, but none made as an evolution for Venomoth
>>58821981Lots of Doduno. I'm a basic bitch, I like the dead skulls idea for the mega. Getting the legendary bird heads is also cool, maybe for a Paradox. Easily one of those lines that could finally become a fan favorite with an evo.

>>58812480>>58813186Would have to get popular fakemon artists on board to get people interested in such a site at all. But let's be real: they'd either abandon it and delete their shit over drama/politics/AI scares, or completely dominate the site and drown out less popular artists that can't do Sugimori style. Also wanna see any Lati collages OP
>>58822317You hit the nail in the head. There are some nut cases as well. A guy posted his Eeveelutions on tumblr, got no traction, then it went omega viral on Twitter and he lost his shit because he didn't watermark it or put his name on the art anywhere. Which is dumb, no matter what kind of art you do. He wanted the viral post removed for this reason. Also, they delete/archive their stuff so much, not to mention not posting their commissions anywhere, which is again dumb for any artist.Ironically, DeviantArt has the best system to keep track of artists, you get all their newly uploaded stuff on your watch tab, and it's so easy. Too bad all the good artists basically left for Instagram, which is annoying because you will never find someone who changed their username, which they do a lot as well. Twitter is easily the worst but that's the one that's been getting more popular. You can scroll too far back, their gif replies are in the Media tab, awful, awful.I'm being too harsh but most of these kids are like half my age and stupidly talented, but I wish they had a talent to market thesmelves as well.
What is the biggest collage you have? Like what single Pokemon (Aside from like Eevee due to all the evolutions) has the most art? The Growlithe one you posted looks PACKED. Curious what the biggest one is.
>>58821967>flying variantsDAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>58822574Meowth: 26 MBEevee and existing Eeveelutions: 21 MBYamask: 19.6 MBRegis: 18.4 MBSlowpoke: 17 MBGastly: 15 MBDiglett, Charmander, Growlithe, Ralts: 14 MBRotom, Applin: 13 MB
>>58822390These two are my favorite two Pokemon and I see every single one of these "forms" as dogshit. How sad that not a single person could make a good fan-made form for them.
>>58822731I noticed that more talented artists basically never tackle legendaries. There is also a heavy emphasis on tweaking regular Pokemon. Most of the art here is well over a decade old, so made by actual children using software that probably nobody uses anymore.
>>58822713So basically the ones that already have a lot of canon forms to serve as base>Meowth line has 7 forms already>Eevee has 9>Regis are 6>Slowpoke line has 7>Gastly has 5>Charmander has 6>Ralts has 6>Applin has 5>Rotom has 6? I don't keep track of themYamask, Diglett, Glowlithe are the only with a reduced amount of base forms (4)
>>58822802I forgot GMax Eevee. 10.
>>58822713Honestly surprised of all the things meowth is that high. Still, these collages have been amazing
>>58821963I don't usually like fake Fairy variants as they are usually "make it pink, fluffly and with swirls", but pircrel are top tier designs. Can you show the Caterpie one as well? Curious if it has Venomoth nods like this one has occasional Butterfrees
>>58822816At a quick glance, I don't see any.>>58822802Charmander, Ralts and Gastly are the ones that get a lot of forms organically due to their popularity. The rest are getting forms because GF established that they have forms/relatives.
>>58810789If you find a way to dump the archive somewhere I'd download it, even though I've got enough files to sortGot a collage of the final evo Gen 2 starters?
>>58822849Yeah, not really. Just the one that was also featured in the Venonat collage.I feel like picrel could be part of the Caterpie collage as well, though. They evolve from Venonat but are clearly designed after Butterfree or at least a mix of it with Venonoth
