Mega Glimmora is a direct play off of Glimmora's base design and would've looked a tad too busy for a non-Mega, non-Legendary Pokemon. Mega Scovillain you have a point for, but only insofar as it should've probably just have been a normal evo because that stat spread is fucking atrocious for a Mega meaning the actually pretty good design is basically gonna go unseen unless they give it an ability that'd make shit like Regenerator and Adaptability blush

NTA but I like it BECAUSE it doesn't have a million bells and whistles slapped on it. You ADHD zoomers these days want too many toppings on your pizza. I don't want it to be Tandemaus level simple either. Baxcalibur hits that sweet spot, and the Mega is the perfect level of increased complexity that doesn't go too far but doesn't feel like nothing.

Theres good and bad ways to execute simplicity. Charizard doesn't have a ton of shit going on in its design but its still a good design because of its striking design language due to a well thought out color scheme and proportions. Baxcalibur's color scheme makes it blend into any background employing cooler colors due to a lack of meaningful contrast and its proportions make it look like a stock godzilla model you'd find in Unity

I dunno, I never hated base Baxcalibur with a passion or anything unlike some people I've seen on this board but the anons in this thread saying the mega is a bit plain do have a point.

I absolutely like Charizard too for hitting the sweet spot and it's one of my favorites. I just don't think your "because" explanation is as definitive as you think. What one person can call striking and well thought out another person can call gaudy. Some merchandise of Charizard even elects to focus on emphasizing the teal of its wings rather than the bluntness of the orange. People on /vp/ constantly dismiss it as fat for its belly proportion decisions. I don't think there's a right answer, which is why I only make it a matter of design complexity since that is more so embedded into the core of Pokemon with evolution/metamorphosis. At the end of the day, people will overlook what they want to and emphasize what they want to on a case by case basis in deciding if they like something, usually influenced by their own personal histories so it's not something just laid out objectively that you can expect an easy consensus on. And that also changes by age/generation too.

nta but my only real problem with base form bax are is how the head looks weirdly empty with how round, smooth, and small it is. and it's not empty in a nice simple way but in a "why are you bald" way. sure it's based off godzilla but so is tyranitar and that has a more interesting head silhouette
i think the posing on the mega is better too with it leaned forward a bit more but that's a bit more nitpicky
