Been reading up on it and I've seen conflicting evidence about the size of the pokemon's hurtbox changing based on its size. That's just something that everyone assumes to be true because of the whole thing where very small pokemon can duck under beam moves at close range, but that could easily just be the hurtbox shifting downward due to the pokemon not being as tall and the hurtbox being located in their head or something. On the contrary, I've seen clips showing that there's a big invisible hurtbox around a smaller pokemon that seemingly matches the size of the hurtbox on a larger version of that same pokemon, while all the tests I've seen of the hurtbox changing size have all been kind of flaky.That's also how it's felt to me when using those extra small pokemon and paying attention to what attacks hit them. Bigger attacks means more range on projectiles and bigger AoEs, so unless your pokemon is so large that it has trouble hitting opponents with its attacks or getting through narrow pathways I'm not sure there's actually any advantage to being smaller if the hurtbox doesn't change. I guess it'd make them harder to notice in Ranked if their species is already small, and could potentially make it easier to hide behind benches or something. but that's not a big advantage compared to attacks hitting more easily. On the other hand, if your pokemon's species is already small then making their attacks go up to the next size breakpoint might not matter much anyway and if they're already big then they could already be at the max attack size. You could also just build around your pokemon being small by using attacks that aren't affected by size much. Can't be sure without hitbox visualizations though. Finally got around to uploading those attempts at a psychic prostate massage from back when I was first learning how to gen stuff. Ernesti is naive and likes to run, so I see him as a sweetheart who rushes ahead at his own pace without thinking about the consequences. A few of the later pics are a pretty good fit and the very last one is close to a canon scenario for both of them (size included), but most of the gardes are too malicious to be Ernesti.Oh well, at least they look cute in Sunny's clothing.

But, I'll grind through it with bonus tickets until I can take Floette from Taunie because that's basically the closest thing the game has to real closure and an ending. Everything's just kind of half-assed, and it sucks because there's a lot of cool and fun stuff in here too which they're probably never going to bring back. I'm not interested in the gameplay of the mainline Pokemon games anymore and this is a lot closer to what I've wanted out of this series for years. It even has megas, which never should have left in the first place, and makes them central to the story instead of some weird postgame collectathon like with X/Y. This should have been a way better game than it actually was.I'd like to continue playing, but I don't like the idea that it's going to be over for good when I'm done and none of the endgame stuff or ranked sounds that appealing anymore. Even tiny hunting or AFK shiny farming doesn't feel like it's worth the trouble since donuts are a better way to do that and you don't get all these unwanted extras. I've barely been able to play lately, yet my boxes are all almost full because of that. So I don't know, maybe I'll come back to it later but for right now I've managed to squeeze 700 hours out of it (including the AFK farming) and the end is getting closer than I'd like so it seems like a good point to stop. I really want GameFreak to keep building on this and polish up those half-assed parts, but it seems like the updates are over so I guess that's not happening. If they're just going back to more of the same after Z-A despite all the work they put into this new battle system then I'll probably be skipping the next games too.

I'm grateful it was real time combat because I've never liked turn based games. I can only play Persona because the combat in Persona games is less important than other JRPGs where lining up and taking turns hitting each other is played completely seriously.

However, they got rid of abilities, only have a FFA mode for PvP, and won't bother to update any of the attacks or mechanics that are currently lacking so even the best part of the game feels incomplete.Like, I'd never even consider using Simisear in other games but at least he can afford to dump points from speed to make use of Work Up as a mixed attacker with move combos like Flame Wheel/Flare Blitz -> Overheat in this one. But why would I bother coming up with strategies like that when Ranked is just sniper hell? I could play Ninjala if I wanted that experience. PvE has some actual bite to it this time which is great, but the AI still kind of sucks since they usually don't even try to move out of the way and just abuse the lack of cooldowns on their attacks to create difficulty. There's a lot of good stuff here, but so much of it needs a new game's worth of polish.

For regular battles, the various pseudos that ZA does have usually hit hard enough without megavolving that you don't need to do so, and while the legendaries do benefit enough to win battles in one hit, you then have to run around grinding mega power back up so much that megavolved battles are few and far between.

Azarose player here, the dlc caused me to have a burnout on the entire ZA and instead of finishing it, I just started my 8th playthrough of Violet after not picking up za for multiple weeks. So far having great bit of fun, taking it very easy in the game, have not even defeated titan klawf yet even though I have been playing for three daysBut yeah I just got so done with the ZA in general I did not even fully finish it. Not sure if I feel lie posting my trainer in V though because of the lacking character customization, it's not like it's anything unique or anything

They really did drop the ball so hard with the mega dimension "dlc" (paid post-game choregrind content).In fact if the dlc did not exist or I had not plaid it at all, I'd imagine I'd be feeling a bit more positive of ZA than I do now. I found that reducing it to just the essentials of the character works best; like for the Grape refs, I had a pic of him from every angle without any cropping at first and it had trouble doing anything with that. After reducing it to just a close-up front and back things went much better. That and specifying stuff about him in a character prompt to help it pick him out and prevent common errors. Feel free! I doubt it'll take exact sizes though, so stuff like small, medium, large, hyper, phimosis, big balls, small balls, etc would probably work best.
