How are you enjoying ranked?

Get your fill of Garchomp, Gholdengo, Baxcalibur, and Porygon 2 yet?
>>
Didn't meet any of them. Mind, I DID only play 2 matches to get the stones and won both of them, because I waited until the final week of the season to actually join any battles, so only had to face derps in the same boat as me - not arsed with online, but arsed with collecting "FOMO" rewards.
But this is why I have no strong dislike of any pokémon. I never once bothered with comp multiplayer, so never got bodied by tryhards better than me constantly.

>tfw managed to get baxcalibur's mega stone with nothing but the event alpha charizard because i literally just started the game and wanted mega delphox on my team
And of course now that I've (almost, still don't have Eternal Floette, Diancie, or Mewtwo) beaten the game I can't play it because I'm still waiting for my lazy fuck of a brother to get his Mewtwo.

What do people even run on Pory2? I feel like my team needs a better Garchomp repellant than Sceptile carrying Dragon Pulse, what with my Glimmora being extremely weak to Ground. So I had been eyeing Pory2 since it at least gets Ice Beam... but what else? Reflect support, Recover stalling and tanking? Another offensive move that helps round out the team's coverage?
Other options I've thought of are Abomasnow and Milotic.
>>
I had probably the highest amount of wins until rank A this season than previous ones with M-Baxcalibur/Swampert/Porygon Z. I love using that fucking duck so much its so funny watching people underestimate it and then get one shot by tri attack.
>>
>>58816232
Glaceon's a super good Garchomp counter. No clue if it's the definitive one though, because I don't have the DLC. (And don't plan on getting it anytime soon)
>>
can I still get the megastone? I didn’t buy the dlc yet
>>
Is this season just going to be mega magearna every game? I wanted to use a different mythical but I'm not sure which ones would be good
>>
>>58816256
Yeah, I'm aware of Glaceon seeing a fair bit of use, but I kinda wanted to see what other options there are (and was a bit surprised to see OP mention Porygon2 as some sort of popular pick given I've only seen people use it once or twice).
That said, aside from Sceptile not really pulling its weight as a sandshark counter, been liking my team so far otherwise. Marowak hits everything like a truck after Swords Dance and can definitely pull off the win against Chomp in a 1v1 as long as I'm not starting from a bad position like having to switch, Glimmora is funny with mega evo, AncientPower boosting and Meteor Beam nuking (also carries Sludge Wave and Earth Power), and Sceptile... can get tricky with it via Shed Tail and deletes Water types well enough with Leaf Storm & Leaf Blade, but again one of the reasons I picked it as the third guy was a vain hope that it could contain the Earthquakers including Chomp.
>>
>>58816232
Thunderbolt, recover, whatever, with eviolite of course
>>
>>58816262
Yes and it gets easier every season
>>
>>58816326
based
>>
>>58815968
I dropped Ranked mode
>>
I see people still trying to meme with Focus Energy+Work Up Kangaskhan with Normal Gem but...isnt everything already getting KO'd with a Work Up and Normal Gem? I dont think they need a crit boost.
>>
>>58816382
+1 252+ Atk Normal Gem Kangaskhan Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Baxcalibur: 165-195 (74.3 - 87.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Normal Gem Kangaskhan Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 160-189 (74.4 - 87.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252+ Atk Normal Gem Kangaskhan Giga Impact vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Armarouge: 154-182 (80.2 - 94.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Focus Energy also covers for your opponent setting up Reflect while you're using Work Up.

>Marshadow
I still haven't seen the hyperspace for that dude. Volcanion too.,
>>
>>58816505
Those are tied to sidequest, not hyperspace. Volcanion for example you get via a sidequest from mabel
>>
Still haven't played this season. What's a good anti-meta team?
>>
>>58816621
Anything with a hidden Grass move or a hidden Ice move.

Personally I like Crobat because Brave Bird closes the distance and Giga Drain KO's Swampert.

Something with hidden ice coverage can take on THE various Garchomp running around.

Brick Break seems like a must to deal with Porygon yourself. Otherwise you have to trust someone else to soften up the Pory for you.
>>
>>58816655
M-Metagross was my MVP in the early seasons, seems like a good bet here. A bulky set to resist Chomp might be wise. It's also great for closing gaps.

Crobat is dope, but I worry it's too frail. I basically gave up on using glass cannons, even in single player. It only has 5 more SpAtk over Golbat, so I'll try running an Evolite Golbat.

Maybe a bulky Baxcalibur for my third for good stab and resists.

Bat resists Fight and fairy, immune to ground. How common is fire rn?
>>
>>58816726
Sure, but you asked for anti-meta picks, and those options are pretty meta..
>>
>>58816739
I was just spitballing, thanks for the picks anon
>>
>>58816746
Or just slap an Expert Belt on something that gets lots of coverage.
>>
This Ranked Season was surprisingly one of the most fun I've had with Pokémon in a while because it had the most variety. Like yeah, there were still your top tiers that you see in every match but it really felt like no one team was the same. And very rarely did I see just 3 of the same Pokémon out at the same time unlike previous season with Xerneas and Metagross. Too bad it all turns to shit again next season with the mythics allowed in, though I am intrigued to see which one becomes the new Xerneas.
>>
>>58815968
extremely fun season, honestly. My team after I reached A was full XS Rotom-Mow/Swampert/Houndstone. Houndstone getting surprise kills with Last Respects is always a highlight.
>>
I used Dondozo/Tatsugiri/Garchomp, and I did a lot better than I thought I would.
>>
Ampharos/Skarmory/Mega Bax was my team once I reached A and everything got sweaty, but I used Mega Crabominable on my climb to A and it was pretty fun.
>>
>>58816994
how could you expect to go wrong with super meta picks?
>>
>>58815968
I used morpeko for a while to knock off and aura wheel but holy shit the transformation time is awful.

Assault vest dark types are very good in this format, even something as simple as Mabosttif can get a lot of mileage in this format.

I don't
>>
I dont get how dondozo gets commander tatsugiri and mimikyu gets its disguise but rotom can't levitate
>>
>>58816277
Porygon 2 and z are both great. Z is oppressive on offense
>>
>>58818026
Fat ass ate too many galettes now he cant pick himself up off the ground
>>
>>58816277
Porygon Z turns garchomp into a popsicle and has a really great movepool in general. A lot of people seem to forget it has 135 base special and wont respect you enough to switch
>>
Okay, you know what? Allowing Mythical Pokémon but still excluding Legendaries actually makes for a fun season.
>>
>>58815968
I made a shiny showcase team consisting of Talonflame, Ampharos and Mega Banette. It was fun for a while but kind of pointless to play once you reach A. Wish there was a real ranked mode.
>>
>>58818631
Not the worst team. I could see you taking second place consistently with that.
>>
So what’ve people been thinking of the new season? Seen surprisingly few mythicals busted out and the ones that were died real quick. Only ones that seemingly stood a chance was melmetal and that was only because it’s bulky as shit and can take several moves that aren’t super effective
>>
>>58818026
I don't get how the dondozo thing works. Does it only work online or something?
>>
>>58815968
Played a few nights ago and everyone was using Goliospods and Armarouges. Which made me feel silly since I showed up with the same dress.
I just think tanky bug types are cool and I wanted armarouge a lot since I played violet and had my fill of ceruledge

>>58816256
Avalugg is a great Chomp stomper.
Slap a never-melt ice on and icicle crash OHKOs chomp unless they built him fucky.
Armarouge being popular makes him a lot harder to field now tho
>>
Are there any Pokemon who would have more mileage using a normal item over their respective mega stone?
>>
Got my first 0 death game with Leftover Milotic.
How do they expect people to do this 30 times naturally? You have to run away all day and work corners or just have 3 tards who run straight to middle to brawl each time they up
>>
Armarouge somehow made the game less fun than Xerneas spam.
>>
>>58819091
just send in your AV dark type bro
>>
>>58817097
I didn't know Dondozo/Tatsugiri was super-meta when I started, I just thought the permanent stat boost sounded strong.
>>
>>58818992
I don't understand the exact trigger, but it only works when you're in a fight.
If you're just walking around town nothing'll happen, but once you start fighting the animation happens.
>>
>>58819184
Its just easy against idiots who know only how to run up to someone and click EQ or Dragon Rush. Smart people will hang back or use an attack reducing move to make Dondozo useless.
>>
>>58819091
>my greninjer
>>
>>58819010
Garchomp uses either Focus Sash or Yache Berry to live an Ice move.
Excadrill likes Focus Sash because it guarantees you can get off two attacks.
Kangaskhan is only used for the Giga Impact meme, so Normal Gem is a better item.
Ampharos is usually a mono-attacker with Thunderbolt and screens, so Magnet or Shuca Berry are better than the mega stone.
Gyarados can be mega, but it usually likes being Flying type to 1v1 Garchomp and Excadrill, so Wacan or Life Orb feel more common in my experience.
Then you have Golisopod, Clefable, Baxcalibur and Gallade, where the mega is about as much stronger as a Life Orb, so it comes down to whether you want immediate power or the invincibility frames from mega evolving.

It's fun when my favourites naturally check the popular shit (a number of shitmon Poison types vs. the Fairy deer), less so when I'm getting sniped with Psychic from 20 meters away.

>>
>>58818631
What did you run on Banette?
>>
Wow Raichu is a useless piece of shit
>>
>>58819939
Yeah it really sucks how the special variants cant secure kills even after a plot.

Physical Charge variants are probably better off.
>>
>hop online with Crobat for my first battle of the season
>just hang back and Brave Bird the brawlers in the middle for 2 KO's every 30 seconds

ahh i enjoy it but
i know once I reach the sweats of A rank, my fun wont last...
>>
>>58819225
>but it usually likes being Flying type
until everyone stops flexing thunderbolt and thunder punch no he does not
Dodging EQ is only good for the all out brawls, which is actually pretty good. But if we're talking 1v1s chomp still has plenty of high damage moves it can go with.
Mega Gyarados is worth it 9/10 times just for keeping you from getting OHKO from the ampharos halfway across the map

>>58819948
>literally can't lose points
>every match in A rank is just the same shit from the ladder climb
You'd think that's when people would start fucking around.
>>
>>58819663
Swords Dance, Protect, Shadow Sneak, Phantom Force
Used to have Icicle Spear in place of Protect but it turned out that move is awful in this game, and Normal types weren’t common enough anyways
>>
>>58816262
You don’t need the dlc to get the mega stones
>>
Is Crabomable or whatever good?

Also what do you guys think are good antimeta mons? I don't think Zeraoras gonna be all that good since grounds are everywhere.

Marshadow seems annoying, though. Magearna as well.
>>
>>58819944
That’s one thing, the other is that speed doesn’t matter much in this game unless you’re using the Z Mega. Why does it not work that way for all speedy Pokemon is beyond me.
>>
>>58820015
We don’t know the meta yet so hard to say. But the Mythical Pokemon seem quite underwhelming so far. I haven’t seen any of the Legendaries yet except for (Mega) Latias. I guess people forgot they were made legal as well.
>>
>>58820015
>Ice during Heat Wave season
lol
>>
>>58818026
Good, fuck that little shit
>>
I'm still apprehensive about EQ'ing Rotom forms and will likely still be for the Latis.

Shame Dragon type special moves suck in this game. Unless Luster Purge is a good move?
>>
>>58820015
>crabomable

Perishes to any crit. Takes a few instant ko’s for players to get the hint to never bring it out. Anything weak to ground you shouldn’t be using

>>
>>58816256
>Glaceon's a super good Garchomp counter
And it only took 5 generations after they were both introduced!
>>
do people still not know the difference between counter and check
>>
>>58820043
The Lati@s special moves got buffed in SV to be better then psychic aside from PP but probably worse start up time in ZA.
