How do we feel about this?
I actively like that the Pokemon company doesn't have some hyper strict equity aspect to how they treat older Pokemon. I'd rather be surprised every so often than be able to predict everything, and if that means Typhlosion gets a regional in one gen and not a Mega in another, that's fine.If anything I'd like them to be even less strict and have less patterns, though I also recognise somethings aren't really "patterns" so much as they just make sense to do too.

But that's because the other two are generally decidedly mid compared to in-region fare (usually a gyarados and whatever grass type's included for coverage options). They also didn't start bothering with waifumon starters until Gen 6, so it took a hot minute for them to get 'round to waifumon water and grass starters.
