As iconic as Missingno. became, GF would never outright acknowledge it because it would also mean acknowledging their games' coding being exploited to hell and back, and we can't have that for such a prestigious franchise, can we?

The original Missingno glitch wasn't even present in the japanese games so for Game Freak and japan Missingno is just some random bug in some overseas version of the game, they hardly ever knew or cared about it.
