Definitely the best artstyle of any Switch era game, but thats not saying much.

That said, the game is effectively a lobotomized FRLG. GF figured that the best selling generation was, somehow too complex and added even more hand holding and removed even more player freedom. No real wild battles, and a post game barely more than that of even RBY, all while sticking to their outdated XY-era design.

Theyre the least worthwhile to revisit of virtually any game.

I can't believe how lazy this game was. The laziness was constant.
Ladder animation? Nope, too much work, just have your character crouch and then the screen fade to black
Using Flash? It would be too much work to show an animation of a flash of light, and a focused field of view around your character with shadows and shit, instead let's just have the room be pitch black and then the room instantly turn to normal lighting instantly.

It's still better than the other switch games because they were truly attrocious, but I can't believe fans let them get away with this.

They did away with wild battles and ended up with a game where you only ever send out your mons to one-shot trainers. It's so easy to get overleveled with the way they implemented experience points and chain capturing that you never feel like you're actually training your team. It's more like you're just going through the motions.
