And they don't need to "add interesting ways" for them to breed, because most aren't intended to be bred in-game (babies and legends) and the ones that ARE intended to breed, breed with Ditto (because again, officially they HAVE a gender. It's just not listed if it's male or female, per the in-universe explanation).

>>58837636The fact that it was officially acknowledged unlike literally any other fan theory is basically a smoking gun that the subtext was recognized, and they "deconfirmed" it because they didn't want to make Mew and Mewtwo's lore any darker than it already was by going "haha wow, you guys are clever! yeah that's what ditto's origin is".Modifying Mew's baby until it was born as Mewtwo is one thing, but then implying Mew went through countless other children who were deformed and experimented on just makes the whole thing unnecessarily edgy. Maybe that would've been kickass in the gen 1 days, but Pokemon is a squeaky clean global franchise for infants, you can't have lore like that be openly promoted or it hurts the brand's image and causes a potential PR controversy when political nutjobs latch onto the thing and draw their own retarded conclusions about how there's a "deeper meaning" behind it that just so happens to tie into their political agenda.
