Just using the same design, but recoloring it for both genders would have been better and probably take less effort too than awkwardly mashing male and female Meowstic together

They should have done what they did, but flipped the colors depending on if it were male or female, because that's basically what it already does, and it's enough of a difference to not feel like bullshit.
