They had to let Sakurai have fun with another game before sending him back to the Smash mines because the last time he really got to do something else before Air Riders and three different Smash games was what, Kid Icarus Uprising? A 14 year old game at this point. Honestly let the man work on things other than Smash, he's basically being wasted on a game that's formulaic enough at this point that anyone enthusiastic can make an excellent game. Let him do wack shit like he's been doing since the original Smash/Air Ride, Meteos and Uprising were quite good give or take some input device weirdness.
