Why is XY widely agreed to be the downfall of pokemon?
>>
Because they're bad

>too easy (overpowered experience share that wasn't balanced until SM, and gyms use 3 pokemon)
>kanto shoved down your throat
>lacking postgame
>bland rivals that interrupt you too much
>most megas are locked until the postgame making them worthless for normal play since the maison is easy to cheese and 3DS online is dead

I prefer BW, but the post clearly highlights how hard we were with XY. In many ways, they are games full of substance and content. For me, the biggest problem was the extreme ease of the game, the slightly off-kilter pacing that turns the game into a boss rush after Shalour City, and the new Pokémon were too few compared to the Kalos Pokédex. Furthermore, it was the beginning of the simplification of the games and the Kanto Pandering. But despite this, I always thought they had enormous potential, enough to make them the best Pokémon game ever. Deep down, I thought, "Oh well, Z will take care of that," but sadly, it never arrived. In many ways, it was the swan song of the classic Pokémon games, the last true Pokémon game.
ORAS, however, is a whole different story. I don't even hate ORAS, but at the time I was definitely perplexed: it increased the dose of babyfication, furthermore the new megas were one more broken than the other and completely unbalanced the XY meta that I instead appreciated.

The introduction of the Fairy type alone ensured that these games were a net negative for Pokemon as a whole.

I think Pixel Art is made to make your brain and imagination fill in the gaps. Once your brain sees something in 3D, it starts to compare it to real life (3D) and not to low-standard drawings (2D).

It's harder to make graphics be on par with our subconscious expectation. We didn't -and still don't- care for the NES and SNES graphics, but we find N64 and PS1 graphics lackluster to today's standard. (In contrast with the fact that we are way more critical to a figure made of poligons, than to a stickman animation.)

Point to the 3d era: it made Pokémon more accesible and popular (that explains the recent sales numbers) because normies and social media can market more a 3D object than a drawing.

That's my opinion.

I like that you can represent every Gen to that point on the same team
