>>58846344>>58846350>>58846362>>58846375Marill was popular for a while when gen 2 was new because it was the first gen 2 Pokemon revealed (technically it was Ho-oh but we didn't realize that until later), which was a huge deal not just because it was a new gen but because the whole concept of "Pokemon generations" did not exist yet and people did not know there were going to be more than the original 151. Even before Gold and Silver came out there were lots of rumors on how to catch "Pikablu" in Red, Blue and Yellow. I wouldn't say Marill is a people go for when playing GSC or HGSS today, but a lot of kids went out of their way to catch one when Gold and Silver were new.
