>>58851415So the original Voltorb was discovered around the same time as regular Pokeballs were invented near a Pokeball factory which people in universe don't think is a coincidence. Yet Hisuian Electrode has existed since the days of the ancient hero 2000 years ago and Laventon says Pokeballs are a recent invention. So what's the reason for Voltorb and Electrode looking like Pokeballs? It's not for gameplay reasons since there's no itemballs in Arceus for it to mimic. Did GF just think a Voltorb based on an old Pokeball would be cool without giving a second thought to anything else?

The PLA pokedex even mentions that they look like Pokeballs yet are made out of material like Apricorns like how regular Voltorb's body is implied to be made out of the same material as modern Pokeballs. This whole consistency issue could've been avoided if Electrode wasn't a noble Pokemon and they just said Hisuian Voltorb and Electrode were recently discovered.
