Why does nobody JUST play Pokemon anymore? Why does it always have to be some gimmicky challenge run or kaizoslop hack?
>>
because the mainline games can become too boring and or, easy. And even when they try to change it up, we get absolute garbage like ZA.
>>
>>58866198
because the games are designed for toddlers so you have to handicap yourself in 15 different ways just to make it interesting
>>
>>58866209
I've played through HGSS more times than I can count and I'm sure as hell not bored.
>>
>>58866198
You have hundreds (probably thousands) of normal Pokemon let's play's on YT, go watch all of them if that's what you want to see so badly
>>
>>58866214
I’m sorry you have low IQ.
>>
>>58866218
>stop having fun, retard
>>
>>58866220
I didn’t tell you to stop having fun. I said I’m sorry that your IQ is low enough that you think replaying piss easy linear games is fun.
>>
>>58866214
Based, I've also replayed GSC countless times. It's not even about the game being good or not, it's just that I love it that much, it's that simple.

the best thing you can do is ignore how other ppl are playing pokemon. pokemon is a sandbox genre, you can play it in so many different ways. and there's nothing wrong with vanilla standard playthroughs if you enjoy it (which i do, i rarely nuzlocke)

challenge is fun to others, but you don't need to find it enjoyable so you can feel validated in the fandom. just do what ya want and enjoy it
>>
>>58866198
Solo challenges, nuzlockes, trashlockes, monotype or whatever challenges on vanilla games are too easy and boring. Like how randomizers were fun for like a month, then got boring as fuck because all the runs were just "find the broken legendary on an early route and use it the whole game"
>>
>>58866198
They not as autistic and retarded as you.
>>
>>58866317
>oh my god lance has... A LEVEL 50 PIDGEY?????!!!!!!! THATS HILARIOUS XXXDDDDDDD
old youtube content was dogshit
>>
>>58866198
Why do you care about how other people play video games
>>
>>58866198
There is no reason to take this toddler JRPG seriously without challenge runs
Cope with the facts
>>
>>58866225
>hard game = better
You're bad at everything in real life so you cling to this delusion.
>>
>>58866594
>games that have gameplay beyond mashing A at .pngs that show up on the screen = better
correct
>>
>>58866598
>the video gane is just pressing buttons
Yes, that's how they all work.
>>
>>58866604
>Yes, that's how they all work
No. Well designed games require having to put thought into what buttons you press.
>>
>>58866608
Well designed games such as?
>>
>>58866198
>Why does it always have to be some gimmicky challenge run or kaizoslop hack?
What’s the problem?
>>
>>58866198
because the games are boring, people have stockholme syndromed themselves into thinking they have to keep playing it but know full well they're mediocre so they have to trick themselves into having fun by coming up with challenges
>>
>>58866300
>the best thing you can do is ignore how other ppl are playing pokemon. pokemon is a sandbox genre, you can play it in so many different ways.
You have the right idea, but we can make the statement even broader: Pokemon is a massive fucking media mix franchise, there's so many different facets to it at this point that people who are the polar opposite of (You) can and will enjoy it for entirely different reasons, and it's a waste of time worrying about them and whatever you think is dumb about them.
>>
>>58866198
>Why does nobody JUST play Pokemon anymore? Why does it always have to be some gimmicky challenge run or kaizoslop hack?
The actual reason is the games are decades old and every regular run has been done already, youtubers need special runs to get more engagement, you can ignore the demoralization slop from retards like >>58866218 >>58866225 >>58866376
>>
>>58866598
>He didn't deny he is bad at everything
Cuckcession accepted.

Kaizo games
>Well desig-
Yes. Difficult, well-designed games make you use your brain.
>>
>>58866793
>kaizo games
>requiring a brain
>>
>>58866691
The actual reason is that Pokemon games have no difficulty and are designed like shit.
>>
I hadn't played any of the mainline games and just got a Switch 2 so I played:
>Legends ZA
Actually really enjoyed this. The mega-battles gameplay loop got old quick but it basically felt like a distilled version of S&V which I think worked to the benefit of the Pokemon's more charismatic qualities - battling itself is still a little clunky and mostly rock, paper, scissors.
>Scarlet
Clearly an unfinished game but has great potential I think. I liked the non-linearity because it meant I was constantly exploring and finding cool shit. I didn't know about the Ruinous legends (or whatever) and discovering a shrine was really exciting. Going to Area Zero for the first time was great as well. The gyms were all a joke and doing the extra activities (like emotional responses to the psychic yoga thing, the rap thing... I don't remember the rest) were awful. A real low for the series. But titans were cool. Terra kinda a retarded gimmick but obviously adds a lot competitively. Better than in ZA where Megas artificially reduce the pokedex to like 5% of total mons.
>BDSP
Never played Sinnoh so was excited but after playing the previous two I'm reminded just how fucking slow the mainline games used to be. I've replayed Emerald a trillion times by emulator and the speedup really helps for when you have to fight 10 Team Cocket grunts in a row and they all have zubat/metapod or whatever and you just one-shot them with any shitmon. I also find the pokedex really dull so far. But I've never actually learned the storyline behind the time/space legendaries and so will probably power through.
>>
>>58866198
All ages JRPG + sandbox roster - difficulty options = Advanced players have to make their own fun for single player. Multiplayer allows for higher skill level plays, but that too has its own problems.
>>
I do
I don’t care if it’s easy I do it for immersive reasons
>>
>>58866198
Because after you've played a couple Pokemon games you've played them all. The only reason to replay the single player campaign is a challenge run.
>>
>>58866198
It's an easy baby games. Even if you don't want to play kaizoslop or do an insane challenge doing a gimmmick run makes it more interesting even if you're looking to just chill. A monotype run that isn't a nuzlocke or anything like it provides a great middle ground.
>>
>>58866317
Normally whenever I do a monotype run it's not for the challenge but because I just wanna play with my favorite type
>>
>>58866198
I do weird challenges like mono type sometimes because it gives me greater appreciation of Pokemon I would never have thought of.

For example a while ago I did a Dragon only playthrough of Emerald by replacing a starter with Dratini. It made me kind of hate Dratini because its actively just useless until it evolved but made me really come to like Altaria. It was the first actually useful team member and it essentially carried Dragonair and Shelgon into evolving and even then was outshining them because it had an actual diverse movepool by then while the other two Dragon/Flying types didn't. I would have never bothered using Swablu/Altaria if it wasn't for that challenge because Skarmory is literally 5 feet away and Wingull is 2 seconds into the game but now I might actually pick one up in future playthroughs.
>>
>>58866849
Why do you meltdown when I call your favorite shit then?
>>
>>58867733
>Why do [SCHIZO BABBLE] then?
>>
>>58866198
I do, I just dont stream it or make a video. Because I'm just playing pokemon. What you're really asking is why does every video you watch have to have a topic, which is a stupidly obvious question to answer. Turn off twitch and youtube and just play, you'll be happier.
>>
>>58867752
XY is too easy.
>>
>>58867699
The goat way to play
>>
>>58866198
I think that's youtube in general
every gameplay I see is "can you do X while/without Y" no matter the game
>>
>>58867954
HGSS is too easy.
>>
>>58866198
I think your issue is more "why do I keep seeing more challenge runs on youtube rather than normal playthroughs?"
"Why does nobody JUST play Pokemon anymore?" is just plain wrong. I can guarantee you much more people do normal playthroughs instead of challenges. The thing is that you might not see it because regular playthroughs don't generate that many views anymore (unless it's a fresh new game). Also, for older games, people can just experience it themselves by downloading the roms.
However, if they can't experience it by themselves because they lack time or skills for more "difficult" challenges (like soloing a game with a shitmon), they prefer to watch someone else do it, which is why those challenges get views.
At least that's how I see it.
>>
>>58866198
They are doing it for views.
That's the reason.
That's all there is to it.
>>
>>58866844
yes
if you overlevel everything early on as a crutch you will never get past the e4 in any of those games
>>
>>58866198
tubers have to keep producing content or the search algo leaves them behind
>>
>>58866214
Based. Comfy casual runs with Pokemon I've never tried before is what keeps me coming back.
>>
>>58869279
>Pokemon I've never tried before
this is just trashlockes and they're still boring and easy
>>
>>58868918
>get in battle
>it's just pressing a
kaizofags lmao
