For me, its to be geared towards a more mature audience and updating the Pokédex to reflect new evolutions.

and include the ones that are native to kanto but only introduced after. Like Houndour. Bonus, new cross-gen evos and maybe some straight-up new mons. Imagine getting new KANTOOOOOOO mons after 30 years.
