I'm pretty sure teraleak's revealed what's going to be the animal base for the starters already but I haven't been paying much attention to it of late, smells too much of desperation attention seeking, especially as they've been piecemeal dropping L: Z-A stuff prior to that while we were in the final run-up to its release.

If so, it's probably grass or fire type. Maybe they'll make a fire type Decidueye? For the other ones, I'll guess a grass bear and a water snake, maybe a cobra type of thing.

However, why do they keep on doing this?
Unova has muh diversity for starters and I think Alola has the most significant local species as starter, but after that, Galar starter only has their starters final form's theme to match the region.

I think those are lame names for Pokemon games. I wish it was called Light and Shadow instead.

For starter pokemon: a grass type bear pokemon, a fire type lamb that evolves into a ram, and a water type squid pokemon.

As for other Pokemon: a ghost and fighting type based on a human shadow that evolves when your friendship level is high in the night, a dragon type pokemon that can't evolve, a ground and flying kiwi pokemon that can't evolve, and Regional forms of Zubat, Psyduck, Roselia, and the Legendary beasts.
