What do you think the political landscape of the Pokémon universe is like?

Unovans arguing if Team Plasma was right.
Class division in Kalos.
Death by overwork in (ORAS) Hoenn + environmentalist policymaking.
People like Carmine who hate tourists and probably capitalism.

Utopiabros? I thought poverty didn't exist in Pokemon??
>>
>>58887370
here are some of my rambling thoughts
-no human slavery because of mons, the concept of it might not even exist
-renewability is easier there due a variety of pokemon handling unpopoular/difficult to deal with things like human waste
-self defense/weapons are legal everywhere again because of mons
-illegal immigration is a non issue, wilderness is simply too dangerous for poor peeps (like imagine trying to get out of Orre on foot youll prob get eaten by a trapinch)
-clean fresh water for cheap is a non issue thanks water pokemon
-energy is probably a non issue thanks to mons, coal and oil have only minor utility
-all foodstuffs have insanely more value then irl by default due to the nature of harvest and wild mons, no ones gonna pick your strawberries for pennies on the dollar when a dragon could swoop down any second, realistically you need guards or an indoor facility with controlled climate for food (which needs guards anyway) meaning production and cost of food is very high

Kanto and Johto are considered backwards shitholes, specially Johto.

Aren't there multiple cases of people (mainly in evil teams) forcing people to work for them?

>public
Subsidized healthcare
Standardized global currency
Interpol
Non-patent inventions like Pokeballs
Seemingly borderless travel
>private
Uber rich elites and old-money types with blue blood
Royal families
Corporations contracted for public work (Aether Foundation, Macro Cosmos, Quasartico)
Poverty still being a thing

Forgot to mention energy, if we consult the ZA museum. Some of it is based on reality, though with exaggerated results and feasibility, and others are outright sci-fi thingamajigs.
>>
>>58887370
Politically disengaged or a single-issue voter because a mega or dynamax pokemon crushed their house.

Just something interesting to add:
>the universal rule, even IRL, is the rule of the strongest
>in the Pokémon universe, the strongest people are powerful Pokémon trainers
>being a powerful trainer goes in hand with raising Pokémon kindly
>therefore, the Pokéverse is ruled by generally kind people

Of course there are exceptions, and wicked powerful trainers pop from time to time - either because they became evil over time while staying close to their own Pokémon (Giovanni/Cyrus/Lysandre), or because they manipulated and bruteforced their way to power (Ghetsis). It's not a 100% infallible system. But even those who emerge end up thwarted in the span of months/couple of years, and mind you, usually it's by children, the purest people to raise pokémon with kindness.

The conclusion is that the Pokéverse evolved into a "survival of the kindest" system.

>>58888840
yeah but its on a very individual level for people with talents (usually technology in yeah evil teams) more along the lines of kidnapped/threatened, there's no groups of people being forced to work/live performing menial tasks
>>
>>58887575
Illegal immigration isn’t an issue because there are open borders
>>
>>58890107
no, illegal immigation isn't an issue because there aren't subhuman cultures of inbred rapists invading to parasite welfare and build grooming gangs

Boomers in Sinnoh HATED Cynthia because she was the very first female champion in the Pokemon world, but she second she became popular worldwide those same boomers began to praise her like a goddess because she makes Sinnoh look good internationally.

Actual oldfag here. "Boomers" (guessing you mean genwunners, who didn't stop with genwun but played on regardless) loved her. Only ones who seethed over her were kids who got plebfiltered by her flawless team. I played Diamond cold after taking a break with Gen 3 (not economically worth buying a GBA just for pokémon) and was down with her from the start.
>>

>>58890149
Surely there are no rapist pedo presidents in Unova too right?
>>
>>58890207
>>58892136
man, this really triggered the jeets and I'm not even American
implying the existence of pedo elites denies the existence of invading subhuman cultures. Except the former are a dozen old men and the later are entire nations, thus making it a much bigger problem

>>58890273
it is relevant, they can afford open borders BECAUSE they don't have subhuman cultures

One Guy in Unova made the "Mambo No. 5" of the pokemon world and he went:
A little bit of Korrina in my life
A little bit of Elesa by my side
A little bit of Skyla all I need
A little bit of Valerie's what I see
A little bit of Cynthia in the sun
A little bit of Sabrina all night long
A little bit of Melony, here I am
A little bit of you makes me your man (ah)

Similar to RL, there's a power bloc in the East which differs vastly from the West regarding ideology, society and technology. Due to a massive conflict in the past (probably the war Lt. Surge mentioned), these blocs became isolated from each.

We only know what the West is like, as any media to date is set in the Western bloc.

Kalos is the region with the most economic disparity.
What we see of Kalos is just the rich part of the region, Southern Kalos is a shithole that only exists to be exploited so the north can afford their Expensive clothes, fancy berry juices, and Furfrou haircuts
>>
>>58887370
I think >>58887575 and >>58889714 basically hit the nail on the head.

I would also think that by that logic, the status of "Champion" is more than just some flashy title, it's a political office. It's basically President/Prime Minster of a region, while also being personally responsible for dealing with major threats to the region, either directly (such as Lance fighting Team Rocket in Johto) or indirectly (many, MANY champions providing aid or motivation to promising trainers, aka the Player Character, in other games such as Steven in RSE/ORAS or Cynthia in DPPT). Ultimately, there is a culture that echoes Spider-Man's whole shtick. With great power comes great responsibility, and the people of the Pokemon world are, generally, conditioned to view power as a responsibility to help and protect or guide others.

I'd say a lot of the biggest conflicts politically would come down to smaller, local things like minor activism (i.e., city wants to expand but it would displace wild pokemon).
