We were robbed and we'll never see his original vision. Mewtwo...

Shudo, Tajiri and Masuda were the only ones that understood pokémon.

QRD?

he was the head writer for the first three Pokémon movies and the first season of the anime. He absolutely hated the idea that Ash would never evolve or that the series was meant to go on forever, and he wanted to write a more “adult” story.
iirc thanks to the chaos caused by the Porygon episode he got the chance to push more mature themes in the first Mewtwo movie, where in the Japanese version Mewtwo isn’t really a villain but a clone questioning the meaning of his own existence, and Mew is kind of an asshole who argues for the superiority of the originals.
The third movie was supposed to have a completely different script. I won’t deny that some of his ideas were a bit edgy, like Pokémon rebelling against humans, but he genuinely wanted to write something with depth instead of just a kids’ cartoon. Also, I think he wrote Team Rocket’s intro monologue.
>>
>>58893668
he didn't work on the games
so?
>>

>Masuda
>>
>>58893746
Nah, it was Shudo. People give him shit for being a boozehound and over Lugia but like it or not he understood Pokemon better than the creators who eventually sanitized it to all hell. Pokemon with a slight edge. That's all I ask for.
>>
if Pokemon were not related to Nintendo
>>
he also explored the "what if humans can talk to pokemon" before Yellow and N
>>
>>58893746
>no mention of Morimoto
shamefur dispray
>>
>>58895403
Lugia would not exist without him and Masuda loved the 2000 movie so much that he wished to make the games more like it, starting with Crystal.
>>
>>58895427
Yes, Masuda
>>
>>58895901
Morimoto (both as the Battle Designer and as a Director) and early Kusaka too, yes.
>>
>>58895427
Yes, Masuda.
What he's said, and hindsight has vindicated him.
The man was a lightning rod for criticism, yet genuinely tried to stem the tide of Pokemon ending up how it is now. Every single thing he was blamed for, he understood, and felt himself.
He absolutely did fail, but not for lack of trying. Now that he is gone, there is no more resistance to the enshittification of Pokémon going forwards

The very first Pokemon manga, starting the same month the games released, had talking Pokemon, and the anime was originally going to have them as well until they changed their mind.
The unique thing he was among the first to explore was "what if humans CAN'T talk to pokemon".
>>
>the only one who cared about pokémon was an alcoholic drug addict, bitter and angry men 20 years his junior were his ultimate bosses AND were already more wealthy than he could ever hope to achieve in his lifetime

>the only one who cared about pokémon was a human being instead of a soulless corporate
glad we agree
>>

Shudo had plenty of chances to make loads of money for little to no work. He was not into anime for that. He was a man with principles, something worthless scum like you cannot even begin to understand. The one time he did not adhere to his principles, Lugia's voice, made him regret it so much that it made him feel unworthy of working on a even on a silly show for children, despite everyone begging him to come back. He was not a perfect man but, on this regard, he deserves nothing but respect.

Masuda was the only reason gen2 even came out. Game freak keeps self sabotaging out of spite because they didn’t want to make Pokémon anymore and their incompetence pissed of Taijiri so much he ditched them for ruining his vision. Masuda took the helm and whipped those retards to keep the ship afloat long enough to fir Iwata m and I arrive and bail their worthless asses out
>>

Either you had a stroke there or your AI did.

Dumb ESL.
>>
>>58893746
Add Morimoto but yes otherwise this is a Trvke
>>
>>58895385
interesting, i never rly watched the anime closely but there didn't REALLY feel like there was some big shift in the writing between the first few seasons and the later ones
>>
>>58895385
Sounds like he wanted to write a bunch of fanfics and call it his own. The Mewtwo thing was okay (though handled in a lame ass way), the rest is lame.
>>
>>58896736
Shudo was already really respected in the anime industry for his work on Minky Momo.
He was no loser, but actually a pretty impressive grab for The Pokemon Company.
>>
>>58895385
>Pokémon rebelling against humans,
I still want this, but GF would never have the balls to do it in a game or something where the evil team of humans is being manipulated by some psychic types or new legendary and wants to end humans reign as the dominant species of the planet.
>>
>>58896736
This
His ideas all sound terrible and I'm glad they never saw the light of day.

>be instrumental in the creation of one of the most iconic anime and become a respected icon
>join Pokémon
>your interactions with game freak are so infuriating that you end up wanting to series to die so much that you try to make Pokémon literally kill the series with a revolt (an idea that gets shot down)
>the stress is so much that you get brainworms, and hallucinate a white dragon-thing as your wife, you get so invested with this imaginary dragon that you go into depression when it gets a male voice
how many lives does game freak have to ruin
>>
>>58893668
Here's a translation of his novelization of Pokemon. Mostly just the first season.

Its interesting in some ways.

Was he reincarnated as JustinRPG?

It was a great read until the translator chose to come out as trans in the end like anyone gave a fuck.
>>
>>58898617
>translator
>is trans later
>>
The stuff he made for the series was good but he wanted to go too far with the series multiple times. He wanted to have a Trex fossil come to life for the 3rd movie breaking the no animals taboo and he straight up wanted to end the pokemon brand by having the animes conclusion be a war between humans and Pokémon.
>>
>>58898646
I still say Eternatus was based off the rex concept.
