Why isn't there more Ground Flying types?
>>58894661You can't be on the ground and flying at the same time.
>>58894661Dudunsparce's evolution in gen 12 will be Flying/Ground type
>>58894661Because it's fucking GAY
>cubchoo used powder snow!GARBAGE typing
>>58894661My favorite idea is Doduo and Dodrio as Ground/Flying types, because they're flightless birds and it makes them no longer weak to Electric or Rock while keeping the Flying typing, also they're incredibly adapt to grounded travel and live in savannah type areas, also they gave it Stomping Tantrum and Drill Run this generation for some reason.
>>58895164this pleasethey need something going for themthere's already more than enough normal/flying birds out thereand while we're at it, give it literally any other ability options too
>>58895193Run Away > Speed BoostEarly Bird > Anger Point, Reckless, Defiant idkHA: Tangled Feet > Quick Feet
>>58895235No point in giving it Quick Feet if you're just going to give it Speed Boost.
>>58894667Fpbp
>>58895294Speed Boost = gets higher every turn, speed still gets halved from paralysis, loses boost upon switching out, Dodrio has baton pass tooQuick Feet = immune to Paralysis speed halving, boost stays even if you switch out, don't have to worry about getting burned
>>58895320I hate seeing suggestions like this. Pulling from the same pool of ~20 strong competitive abilities is boring as fuck.Tangled Feet is a fun idea and thematic ability. Instead bring back Berserker Gene and make Tangled Feet raise evasion by 2 stages instead of one.Early Bird is fine as-is, it's just not great on Dodrio. I'd be fine with switching this one out, just not generic competive ability please. Quick Feet is unironically a good suggestion.Run Away has needed the improvement of being immune to trapping effects for a while. If Pursuit returns I'd make it immune to that as well, and maybe Taunt too.
>>58895365Tangled Feet is a fun ability because ever since the confusion nerf, the evasion increase is actually higher than the self-damage chance. It's still luck based, but the odds are in your favor when it's active.
>>58894661
>>58895365>the year of our lord 2026>there's still inironic evasionfags on this boardjsid
>>58895779There's plenty of counterplay to evasion these days. We're not in Gen 1 or 2 anymore.
>>58894661>Shrivels up and dies when an icecube is thrown at them
>>58896096I don’t believe anyone is an unironic evasionfag. Nobody likes dealing with that shit, every time it’s brought up it’s always to annoy people.
>>58896119ThisThat there's counterplay, doesn't change the fact that it's fucking annoying. It does not improve the game by its existence, it does not significantly shift the meta, there are not pokemon suffering in shit tiers who would suddenly be unshackled if evasion was suddenly allowed.
>>58896180Status effects, minimum damage, your opponent's abilities - all annoying
>>58896193get toxic’d nerd
>>58894661>>58895164What even is a ground type anymore, I thought it was typically a burrowing creature or one that incorporates dirt, sand or mud but now it almost seems like just normal type 2
>>58896209I mean, to be fair, even in gen 1 Nidoqueen and Nidoking get Ground kinda out of nowhere, so there's always been at least some degree of it being a loosely defined type.
>>58896216Rabbits burrow, lil bro
>>58896209animal that can burrowfatass that shakes the earthsand/clay creature
>>58896253>>58896209
>>58896216>>58896248>Nidoqueen and Nidoking get Ground kinda out of nowherehttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baragon>In the film Frankenstein vs. Baragon, Baragon is depicted as a kaiju that evolved from the fictional dinosaur Baranosdragon, burrowed underground to escape the extinction of the dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures, and adapted and survived over the years.>All incarnations of Baragon are adept burrowers, with the Millennium incarnation being referred to as the "God of the Earth".
>>58894661there's very few birds that burrow
>>58896273Groudon is basically THE earth element, Camerupt falls into that too. Ursaluna is covered in peat, which is kind of like mud. Hippowdon is as in ground as anyone and has sand coming out of it, so it's kind of earth element, too.
Ground is a very thematic type. Gliscor is a good example of this actually. It could have been Bug, it could have been Poison, but no; Gliscor is Ground/Flying because it glides and hence is both a terrestrial and an aerial creature, but truly belonging to neither group.
>>58896096oh wow moves that are useless in 99% of situations and don't even do that much regardless of enemy evasion anywaysfuck off
>>58896273i love ground types>every one of them can hit foes where they hurt with earthquake/earth power, hit fliers with widespread rock coverage, and virtually all of them can be expected to take at least one hit, often multiple>also every single possible role/usecase can be filled by a ground type in some way>they're also colorful. we've got reds (krookodile, groudon, camerupt, iron treads), oranges (rhyperior, mudsdale, landorus, palossand), yellows (hippowdon, wormadam, dugtrio-alola, sandslash, toedscruel, diggersby), greens (torterra, stunfisk-galar, flygon, gastrodon-east, zygarde, ting-lu), blues (nidoqueen, golurk, whiscash, swampert, seismitoad, quagsire, garchomp), purples (nidoking, gliscor, great tusk), pinks (wormadam-west, claydol, runerigus), whites (arceus, sandy shocks, silvally, marowak), greys (donphan, steelix, nincada), and many shades of brown (everything else)>also the unevolved stages are all cutea patrician's type
>>58896993indeed
What do we want from Ground-types in Gen 10?Surely we'd want the last unused typing (Ground/Fairy)... what else?
>>58894667this, you might as well be ground/water or water/flying or electric/ground
