>Cooltrainers, Rangers, Rich Boys, Ladies, Gym Leaders, E4, Champion and even Team Bosses healing (Tate & Liza being the most obnoxious in that regard)>retarded AI spamming Protect and Detect, achieving nothing except waste your PP and your time>numerous mons spamming accuracy-lowering or evasion-boosting moves>Sand Veil Sandshrews on Route 111As much as I like Emerald, the more I play it, the more I realize this game (and all of Gen 3 for that matter) is hell-bent on making you lose your fucking time for some reason
>>58897765I've been replaying "it" (Emerald Legacy after playing Modern Emerald with the Phy/spe split, actually) recently and yeah.I got done with the Magma hideout a few days ago, flew back to Lilycove and haven't played since. Knowing the next step is the Aqua hideout bores me to no end. It's not that it's complicated nor that I have to backtrack. The two hacks I mentioned above bump up the difficulty a bit but it's still kiddy stuff. It's just so boring though, Jesus. It's really the worst part of the game for me. Two hideouts back to back with a seemingly endless number of boring fights. Surely there was a better way to pad the game.Emerald is my favorite mainline game but fuck, it sure doesn't value my time.
>>58898072you can really tell the game is only supposed to have one hideout
>>58897765Ruby/Sapphire are better for quick replay if you don't plan on doing the Battle Frontier. Less trainers, scripts and different encounter tables with Pokemon that you can't find in Emerald (or are way harder to catch, like Seedot).
>>58898115Probably a retarded reason, but the one thing usually keeping me from replaying RS instead of Emerald is, weirdly enough, not the lack of a Battle Frontier, but how undercooked the gym leaders are
