What game has the most fun contests? I want to run a team that both makes it to the hall of fame and also clears all the master rank contests3rd, 4th or 6th gen?
>>58905612>What game has the most fun contests? Both RSE and ORAS, easily my choice for which games I feel have the best implementation of Pokémon Contests.>I want to run a team that both makes it to the hall of fame and also clears all the master rank contests3rd, 4th or 6th gen?I remember I did that for my Pokémon Alpha Sapphire playthrough, I got all four Rank Ribbons for one Category for each of the Pokémon on my Party, doing it as I went along the main story. It was fun, planning my Pokémon's movesets for Pokémon Battles and Pokémon Contests. I'd say overall that ORAS is better to do it in than RSE. Preparing Pokémon for Pokémon Contests is much easier in ORAS than RSE for quite a few reasons, as it's much more in-depth in RSE. The ORAS Pokémon Contests also allow Mega Evolution and have those things called Spectacular Talents which is fun. Also, tangentially related to your question. What do you think about the idea of a full side game focussed on Pokémon Contests?
>>58905726>It was fun, planning my Pokémon's movesets for Pokémon Battles and Pokémon Conteststhats how I prefer to do it (plus HM moves in the games they're relevant), adds a little extra to picking moves and makes it harder to steamroll either I think I'd be more amped for mega evolution in contests other trainers other than lisia used it too, feels just winmore as it is>Also, tangentially related to your question. What do you think about the idea of a full side game focussed on Pokémon Contests?I'd play it, but I do like being able to alternate between it and battling, unless they added a lot of depth contests as they stand probably couldnt carry a game alone
>>58905872You do make a good point, it's nice to be able to Mega Evolve our Pokémon in the ORAS contests, but it's too bad that NPC Coordinators don't really do it aside from Lisia. Beyond what it's like to prepare the Pokémon, I'm not sure how the difficultly of the ORAS contests and RSE contests compare. I also agree doing contests alongside the main story makes both somewhat more challenging, so I also like how when learning Moves there's an option to switch between a Moves battle info and contest info. It would have been nice if contests in ORAS had online multiplayer, playing contests against other players sounds interesting and fun.>unless they added a lot of depth contests as they stand probably couldnt carry a game aloneExactly my point. In a full game focussed on Pokémon Contests we'd get to have it be made as in-depth as Pokémon Battles.
I created a Drifblim set that obliterated every contest in ORAS. The first two turns would be either Stockpile into Swallow, Calm Mind into Baton Pass, or Amnesia into Baton Pass depending on the contest category, the next two turns would be the same combination, and the final turn would be Explosion. It basically guaranteed a win every time.
>>58905612>I want to run a team that both makes it to the hall of fame and also clears all the master rank contestsProbably Gen 6. Getting great conditions is annoying in 3, and I’ve heard Gen 4 has a worse contest implementation than 3
>>58905612ORAS is the most viable to run a team that does both battles and contests thanks to its low difficulty for both.>>58906660Basically. There's no Sheen to worry about in ORAS and no way to reset contest conditions in any game with it. I prefer both iterations of Hoenn's Contests to Sinnoh's because I don't like the poffin minigame and having to pick between judges during appeals.
>>58905612>I want to run a team that both makes it to the hall of fame and also clears all the master rank contestsyou can bruteforce contests in gen 3, but moves are basically an entirely different effect pool compared to their battle usage. well its not like it means anything past a ribbon and artpiece.
>>58906907>but moves are basically an entirely different effect pool compared to their battle usagethat is honestly the appeal, its nice to have another layer for move selection
>>58905612She's 14...
>>58906871ORAS contests are so retardedly easy you don't even need a team for it. I won all the contests with the same Kirlia when I first got to the Contest City, only think I had to retry two contests or something.
>>58907622>won all the contests with the same Kirlia when I first got to the Contest City, only think I had to retry two contests or somethingall categories at master?
>>58907680Yes. It's really really fucking piss easy to the point of feeling pointless.
>>58907622I did with the provided Pikachu while drunk and still won. It's that easy.

>>58906632>>58907622>>58907749>>58907759These posts really make wish multiplayer Pokémon Contests were more of a thing. Too bad that we didn't get online multiplayer for contests. Because defeating the NPCs is one thing, but playing against other players is a very different matter.
