Thread question: what in your opinion is the hardest non-gym leader/E4 trainer battle?
>WhiteI permanently lost Koffing due to a critical hit leaving it at 1 HP and then it got hit by sandstorm. I shouldn't have challenged the fishermen on route 4 so early (I thought Petilil could take them, but Basculin hits harder than I thought).I almost wiped in the Battle Company. I was not prepared for the chairman's Trubbish to trigger poison over and over again. (I would have used the Pecha Berry had I known.) thankfully, I was able to finish the Battle Company without any casualties.party:>Lv. 21 Woobat >Lv. 21 Tympole >Lv. 21 Petilil>Lv. 16 Sandile>Lv. 6 Snivydead but trade-able:>Lv. 8 Patrat>Lv. 13 Purrloin>Lv. 16 Herdiergone for good:>Lv. 19 Koffingnot feeling too confident about Burgh 2bh
>>58906266Really depends.XY has some nasty fucks, there's also Milotic encounter in RS post-Fortree that can be tricky due to rain and overall bulk - hilariously it was replaced with Thunder and Weather ball that also can be quite scary if you underestimate it.Also - in Scarlet and Violet you can visit route leading to E4 very early in the game - you can grab there some nice encounters, few Gimmighoul coins and a TM... and there's the Black-bordered trainer with team in I believe late 50s or 60s? If you foolishly decide to fight it without previous knowledge about it, you may get obliterated immediately. Also, I vividly remember in Platinum a Raichu/Gyarados double battle in the foggy weather. Both cover eath other's weaknesses pretty well, can hit very hard and are annoying due to fog. Also, more of a mid-boss counters but rivals in BW have tendency to jump at you at the end of the route with no warning. They are not difficult but you can be simply unprepared to fight them because what kind of retard will be going back to the previous city just because there's a chance that Bianca will jump at you from behind with her starter and a patrat?
Today all I did was caught pokemon.I caught a Magnemite at Fuego Ironwork and then I caught a Finneon, a Magikarp, a Sudowoodo and a Chatot all before making my way to Canalave City. That's it, I've caught up to where I should be had I not gone to a con and took four days off.
Post Wynona's Big, Blue Bird.We spent quite some time exploring side areas and collecting items, new Pokemon and experience. Fight with Winona was overall easy, but even 4 x SE from Gyara's pitiful special attack had issues with killing it.
>>58906266I don’t really remember most nameless NPCs nevermind a specific onebut the Ace Trainers in Platinum were pretty tough
>>58906390Kind of the same vein as Raichu/Gyarados is the Magmar/Electabuzz double battle from HGSS. It's tricky to approach because the usual counters are at risk or much slower than the two of them.
>>58906259I just want to see someone do a "starter to level 100 before Brock" challenge in firered. It would be an insane grind on wild pokemon until lvl 100 but still wouldn't be as time consuming as Johnstones shinydex Prof Oak challenge on LGPE
>>58906259>white haired brendankys.
just beat Burgh in both files. Black 2 was a cakewalk because I had Darumaka and Magnemite. Woobat surprisingly managed to pull through in White with some help from Tympole. I always thought Roggenrola was the superior Wellspring Cave encounter but perhaps I judged this little bat too harshly...
page 9 bumpminor update: somehow managed to beat Cheren and Bianca on route 4 with no casualties. gonna focus on Black 2 next.

last thread died while I was asleep so I'm just gonna late-night bump
Post Magma Hideout update.Nothing super exciting happened but Echoes will be finally evolving in 3 more levels and our box is full of Pokemon.
Today has gone great. But I think things have gone to well.I beat the gym leader of Canalave City Byron pretty easily. His Magneton used Flash Cannon but failed to kill my Torterra who one shotted it with Earthquake. Then his Steelix set up Sandstorm but my Staraptor killed his Steelix with Close Combat and finally Croagunk used multiple Revenges to slowly defeat his easy to beat slow as fuck Bastiodon that also ran out of Stone Edges. I was gonna use Gabite and Houndoom in the battle because they have type advantages but I wanted to play it safe and not fuck up and those two are a bit behind in terms of levels. Croagunk did evolve into Toxicroak though and I beat the Commander of Team Galactic Mars at Lake Verity in which Luxray defeated her Golbat with Thunder Fang, Houndoom beat her Bronzor with Fire Fang and Staraptor killed her fat Purugly with Close Combat. Tomorrow it's the snow route. Any advice for any dangers in the snowy areas I should be aware off?
Littlemon team #46 to beat Alpha Sapphire's Pokemon League + Champion with level caps, deathless & reliable strats, no potions, usual rules. The last team! I saved Houndour and Drifloon for the last team a very long time ago. They're even not my favorite Pokemon or anything, but I always knew they were great. But holy moly how good Houndour is. Outspeeds almost everything, almost OHKOs everything even without boosts, wow! Drifloon has crazy high HP and uses Stockpile and Minimize to boost and passes them to dog with Baton Pass. It also has Ominous Wind to try to get the omniboost, but that's not even necessary. I don't want to finish this challenge with negativity so I'll just say Trapinch is a horrible disappointment. Woobat is frail, but has great moves for support. Charm, Thunder Wave etc.All the fights have similar patterns:>woobat debuffs>drifloon boosts and passes them to houndour>sweep.I'm gonna post some afterthoughts
>>58908272It's amusing how underwhelming are Tate&Liza in comparison to their Emerald counterpart. Few Surfs and Shadow Balls from Marika and Echoes was enough to beat them before they could even react.Speaking of Echoes, he already evolved into an Exploud. One of my favorite gen 3 designs :D.
>>58908857So I've proven my point(???) for now. Used every 1st stage pre-evolved littlecup Pokemon in Gen VI in a succesful way to beat the game's final gauntlet. I started the challenge on January 2023 and I started posting on these threads in the summer of the same year. You guys are great and always supportive and fun, so thanks <3I started the challenge as a normal nuzlocke plus the littlemon rule. I got tired of losing so I decided that I can save before an important fight and reload but the fight needs to be deathless so there's where this idea came from. I beat the whole game up until the Pokemon League. I struggled for a long time and even thought it can't be done with these rules. Then I found a shiny Clamperl and thought I have to use this lol. Now what does it have? Shell Armor and Iron Defense? Well let's send it against Scrafty because what can Scrafty with only physical attacks do to it? That's when things started rolling.Pic related was another great discovery. A damn moment of peace to set up and think when you find an opponent who pretty much can't do anything to you. Sorry for the spam, I don't mind if nobody bothers to read all this, but it feels nice to say it all loud. I've made notes on Notepad and there's plus 322 000 characters in there.
>>58908896One more post to say that Frillish became my new favorite Pokemon <3It's hard to say who is the "best" Pokemon, but if only one then I'll say Ferroseed. I'll take that little nigga anywhere on any teamBest offensive Pokemon: Abra (Gastly, Houndour)Best wall: Ferroseed (Poison Heal Shroomish)Best support: Mareep & Chikorita & TaillowBest generalist: Tangela (Misdreavus, Porygon)Weird ass reward: Phoebe's Banette, Drake's KingdraCheesiest strat: Air Balloon Dark Pokemon against Steven's Claydol (Zorua Illusion strat, Encore strats)Scariest monster: Megagross (Froslass, Walrein)Joke award: Mega Absol (Mega Glalie, Altaria)Most fun fight: PhoebeNuisance award: Glacia's Abomasnow with Snow WarningSurprising cat heroes award: Meowth & PurrloinSurprise award: Baby PokemonLifetime award: Zigzagoon for Pickup and finding me useful itemsBest item: LeftoversBest move: ProtectBest strategy overall: debuff & boost <3Here's a picture of Sharpedo taking a six times boosted Flamethrower from Houndour to the face. That's a good way to end things.
>mono (gr)ass with shit speed (60) and shit defenses (67 for both)>chlorophyll is boring and useless unless you get the Sunny Day TM, take up a move-slot to learn it, and waste a turn setting it up (oh, you just powered up fire types for 5 turns btw but at least it learns it at level 45!!!!!)>water absorb is good but makes absolutely no sense for a cactus>storm drain makes even less sense (locked as a hidden ability)>no powder moves because that would break immersion :)>level up move-pool is just grass moves, barely any coverage, and goofy gimmick shit like acupressure or ingrain>tm move-pool is somehow even worse (poison jab and aerial ace? wow, amazing...)>tutor move-pool arguably just as bad since you have to cough up shards (non-STAB drain punch with the inferior attack stat, bounce, and 20 BP knock-off...)>only good against 2 gym leaders (not counting Elesa because Emolga has Aerial Ace and Zebrasrika has Flame Charge because fuck you LOL)>no winning match ups in the E4 lmaowhy does this thing exist? just to suffer?
>>58908895Post-Groudon, three words: PRAISE THE SUN! \o/ !!!I could just throw Master Ball at it, but that's lazy and cheap and gay. Instead I used sandstorm TM on Solaire to negate Sunny Day and from there best Groudon could do was trying to Bulk Up and Slash, which was kind of scary, but the real Son of The Sun prevailed and killed the vile beast with his mighty Psychic powers.
So, I'm doing a genlocke or whatever, and I've just beaten Leaf Green.Apparently the idea is to bring your surviving champs to the next game via pkhex. I figured I could just reset their EXP and EVs and add an egg move and be good, but pkhex throws a fit saying PID mismatch. Not to mention I found a shiny, so I want to bring that along, too, but I legitimately can't touch this thing's EXP without pkhex sperging out. All my champs lose their PID_Method and Origin Seeds in pkhex.Am I doing something wrong or what

Been trying to get a RR 'Locke done, but I keep either making stupid mistakes, or get easily tilted and soft-give up by not trying to team build in hard fights. What is this kind of mental block, even? I'm either trying way too hard (to the point it's inefficient to spend an hour on one fight) or I wanna quit the run and grief
>>58910334aren't challenge romhacks designed around hacking your EVs and using rare candy to basically treat the game as a puzzle instead of a companion raiser?
>>58910400That's the point of a nuzlocke

>white easylockeyeesh. just "wiped" to N's Darumaka. thing hits like a truck. according to my rules, I don't have any usable Pokémon in so I must trade.
>>58908896Has it seriously been three years? Crazy how much time passes when you aren't paying attention. One final congratulations!
Today things have gone great and I went to the snowy area.I caught a Snover, then a Swinub and a Sneasel at the Acuity Lakefront before making my way to Snowpoint City to take on the gym leader Candice and it was tough.First I had Toxicroak use Revenge after her Sneasel used Aerial Ace, Toxicroak took alot of damage but then took out Sneasel in one hit, unfortunately I couldn't use Toxicroak against Piloswine so I switched to Staraptor who used Close Combat to take it out in one hit, next came Abomasnow which set up a hailstorm, Houndoom took it out with Fire Fang but Abomasnow did get in a Focus Blast dealing alot of damage meaning I had to use Luxray for the final battle against her Frosslass that became more evasive in the Hail due to Snow Cloak as well as using Double Team, Luxray did managed to get some Crunches in but took alot of damage from the constant Blizzards, eventually Frosslass ran out and switched to using Shadow Ball, not wanting to lose a pokemon, I took the opportunity to switch out to Staraptor who is immune to ghost attacks before using one Aerial Ace that can never miss and finish of the evasive Frosslass once and for all.Tomorrow I'm dealing with Team Galactic. Any advice?
>>58911680Oh, damn, my mistake. Challenge was started on January 2024 and first victory over the Pokemon League was on July 2024. Yeah, the year before last year was 24, not 23.. >white easylockedue to trading between the two games and species clause, I was able to catch a Sigilyph!
>black 2 easylockeas a repercussion of trading, my black 2 team is under-leveled and had the misfortune of encountering a Tranquil with Super Luck. Herdier and Woobat are gone for good because of a couple of critical hits. maybe Sigilyph is needed...
>>58909662I transferred this nigga to Soul Silver only for it to get killed at level 20 by a level 16 trainer Wigglytuff who metronome'd EXPLOSION with a 212% chance to OHKO
Got Pokerus grinding Whismurs for my Torkoal, been awhile since I caught that.>>58913135lol, metronomed as always.
Just killed Emerald Flannery, my intial thought of using Gyarados to bait the white herb use didn't work because of white smoke, killed the Koal in 3 turns anyway. Probably could have solod with Pelipper but oh well. Onto Daddy now, wish I could use my cursekoal strat like RS but I have a Breloom so should be nice and easy pz anyway.
>>58913406Nevermind, cursekoal strikes again, swapped Gyarados and Mighty on the Spinda until I didn't get teetered since I forgot to add some berries. Next poke was Slaking who used counter on the swap and after 8 turns I started the sweep.Got that surf and onto Weather Institute and Winona. Hopefully I get a pickup ziggy or linoone on 119 because my pokedosh is running low and I want some more Mauville TMs.
Bump.
black 2 easylocke>fighting a trainer's Lv. 26 Emolga in Lostlorn Forest>it uses Double Team 3 times and becomes untouchable>send out Lv. 24 Minccino because it has STAB + technician Swift>Emolga immediately Shock Waves and instantly 1-shots Minccino with a critical hit
>white easylockeI got my revenge on N and beat Elesa's gym
Emerald almost done, just beat the E4. Lost my Mightyena on a crit and my Swalot to sheer cold hax.Stevie Wonder is all that remains of GB/C/A games. Not sure if I drop my champs repeats for the DS games or not, guess I'll see how the variety is, been so long since I played gen 4.
Where are the D/P Remakes in terms of Nuzlocke difficulty, are they pretty much the same as the originals? I did one right when the games came out and Cynthia ended my run, but because I was 99% of the way through the game I didn't feel like starting over and playing through the whole thing again. But now I'm itching to do a Nuzlocke again on my Switch while I chill with the Olympics all week and it's like the only Nuzlocke I've never finished.
Today has been good.I caught a Golduck at Lake Acuity that I didn't want and I was hoping for a female Snorunt so I could use Frosslass. One day I will use her. I might deliberately do a nuzlocke where I can only use cross gen evos in Platinum because there's enough of them and it would be interesting and ensure I use Frosslass.I then dealt with Team Galactic at the Galactic HQ in Veilstone City. I was able to beat Commander Saturn easily, Luxray used Thunder Fang to take out his Golbat, Houndoom used Fire Fang to take out his Bronzor and Staraptor used Aerial Ace to take out his Toxicroak. Infiltrating there base is fun.Tomorrow I'm gonna deal with Team Galactic at Mt Coronet. Also seriously I'm gonna need advice for the final Cyrus fight please.
black 2 easylocke>Lv. 28 Sandile>Lv. 27 Tirtouga>Lv. 26 Sigilyph>Lv. 23 PetililI beat Charles the Heartbreaker with no casualties!
>>58914876It's much easier than base DP. They only buffed the Elite 4 to account for the new systems that later games introduced (friendship and permanent EXP Share) so you should be breezing through the base game.>>58915372I've said it before, but you have to plan around his Gyarados. Everything else in my experience is easy to counter and take out, but Gyarados is tricky to approach. You might try to Intimidate it with Staraptor and Luxray a couple times each before trying to take it out since it should use what's super effective at the moment.
>>58915918My Luxray doesn't have intimidate, it has the other ability.
>>58915918Lol well that was the shortest Nuzlocke ever. I got fucked at the Trainers School by some random asshole with an Abra that knew Charge Beam while my team was only Piplup and Starly.
>charap ignored orders>at level 11Should have kept my Buizel. I forgot how slow DP was fuck. Easy game so far, I did reset after >>58916045 hidden power abras though, went in with pretty weak shit. Psyduck clear solod Roark and got a shiny I will not use since I already cleared Blue E4 with Golem.
Today has gone great.I did everything at Mt Coronet, beat all the Team Galactic Grunts and then headed to the Spear Pillar to stop Cyrus until the portal to the Disortion World opens up where I go inside and I beat the boss of Team Galactic Cyrus but the battle was worrying.First his Houndoom uses Flamethrower on my Torterra who gets burnt and nearly killed, Torterra used Earthquake and manages to take out Houndoom in one hit instantly. Next Cyrus sent out his Weavile, I sent out my Houndoom who got hit with a Fake Out and then an X Scissor, Houndoom did use Fire Fang but that did not kill Weavile, Cyrus then swaps his Weavile for Gyarados and not wanting to lose a pokemon, I switch out to my level 22 Marill who I had been using as a HM slave for Surf, Gyarados uses Waterfall and Marill is sacrificed there and then so that I can send Luxray out and have Luxray go first against his Gyarados which it those using Thunder Fang to kill Gyarados in one hit, then out comes Weavile in which I heal Houndoom straight away while Weavile uses Fake Out, Weavile goes for one more X Scissor before Houndoom finishes off Weavile with Fire Fang. Next comes Honchkrow who's Night Slash was scary and could have killed Luxray but Luxray used Thunder Fang and then Spark and soon Honchkrow was dead, finally was Cyrus's Crobat who's Cross Poison and Air Slash against my Staraptor made things difficult but after a few Aerial Aces and Flys, Staraptor prevailed and Cyrus was defeated. That battle was nerve wrecking because I was constantly worried about losing a pokemon. Afterwards I catch Giratina, Team Galactic are finished and I leave the Distortion World, I catch a Electabuzz on my way to Sunyshore City and this is where I am now.Any advice for Volkner?
>>58916399Buizel is pretty good once it evolves into Floatzel?
>>58916459Yeah Floatzel is pretty good, I just have too many water types as it is, especially starting Piplup. Have Magikarp, Psyduck, Bidoof, Shellos so didn't need another water type. Was really hoping for Murkrow in Eterna but I got Lopunny after it kept using endure and the Chansey focussed the krow. So decided to get another flying type for the next two gyms though I think Staravia and soon Zubat after I grind some levels can easily win.

>>58918424As long as it doesn't have Dry Skin it would work, Volkner has some Fire type moves, but Garchomp outspeeds most of his team so with Earthquake it will probably one shot everything.
I forgot that Clay is BEFORE the Pokémon World Tournament because I'm a dingus.>black 2 easylockeWELP. I wiped at Clay. I was doing alright until his Excadrill hit the field. This is it for the Black 2 file, as all of my PC Pokémon are horrifically under-leveled. Let's hope my White file fairs better.fun fact: if you catch a Pokémon in the Cold Storage area from BW and trade it to B2W2, the area in the Pokémon's summary will be listed as PWT even though the Pokémon World Tournament doesn't exist in BW. time paradox?
>white easylockethey give you x-items in the second city, so I swept Clay with Ducklett lmao
Today has gone smoothly.I caught a Tentacruel and then I took on the gym leader of Sunyshore City Volkner. First I had Torterra use Earthquake go take out Jolteon who did use an Iron Tail before it got taken out, then I sent Toxicroak out against his Luxray because his Luxray knows Ice Fang and I don't want to use a ground type, I have Toxicroak use Mud Bomb which lowers Luxrays accuracy but it isn't enough as Luxray uses Thunder Fang and nearly kills Toxicroak, I then switch out to Gabite who is immune to Thunder Fang and manages to take out his Luxray with Dig and luckily enough Ice Gabite missed due to his Luxrays accuracy being lowered. Next came his Electivire, I had Gabite set up Sand Storm to take advantage of Gabites Sand Veil ability so Electivire struggled to land a hit and then I trapped Electivire in a Sand Tomb, as Electivire took hit after hit because of the Sandstorm and Sand Tomb, I healed Torterra and Toxicroak before Gabite finished off Electivire with Dig and finally Torterra took out his Raichu who used Signal Beam with Dig and soon the final gym battle of Sinnoh was over.Tomorrow is Victory Road and then it's the elite four and champion. I'm very nervous.
Grinding up the team a little before Maylene and Wake, running Lopunny, Psyduck, Chimecho, Crobat, Meditite and Roselia.Probably drop Meditite for Stunky and Chimecho for Murkrow before Fantina. No clue about the rest of the run but just vibing it. Been so long since I played these games.Thinking about just using candies at this point. I'll see how bad the grind is.
>>58920929Stunky and Murkrow are pretty good, i wish they where in Platinum instead of being exclusive to Diamond.
>>58921214I didn't even realize they were Diamond exclusives, I'm just happy I found the Murkrow after I lost the one in the forest but Buneary into Lopunny has been a good pivot even if it took 20 hours to evovle haha. Honchkrow is one of my favorites, Skuntank is pretty cool too.
The Birmingham convention is tomorrow but I don't know if I want to go.I only have 300 quid and Birmingham itself is the most dangerous city in Britain. Is it worth going?
>>58921777sir, this is the nuzlocke general.
>>58921777You gotta look after yourself first and foremost. If going puts you in a dire financial position it's better not to.
Here's what happened today.Gabite evolved into Garchomp and I caught one more pokemon, a Rhyhorn at Victory Road. Then I took on the rival Barry one last time. Static took out his Staraptor with Thunder Fang, Piebald took out his Heracross with Aerial Ace, Toad took out his Snorlax with Revenge, Cerberus took out his Roserade with Flamethrower, Koopa took out his Floatzel with Razor Leaf and Fang took out his Infernape with Dig. All six pokemon got a go and these will be my main six when taking on the elite four.Tomorrow is the elite four and champion. Any advice for any of the upcoming battles?
>>58922166Yeah I know but I don't know what board would be appropriate to ask.>>58922683It makes me depressed because I really want to go and there is a nice hotel room I found for 135 quid for two nights which is a good deal but I don't have alot and the issue also comes from paying for travel there and back and even if I can make it to Birmingham, I won't be able to get back.
>>58922854Garchomp can solo most of the E4 and Champ, should be fine maybe some water coverage.
Got through to Celestic with no real struggles, glad I had my Giraf on second slot and hit the thunder against the Gyarados though.Team is shaping up here, Stunky just got Night Slash, Hippo has Crunch Fantina should be EZ.
I beat the first elite four member Aaron. First Piebald used Aerial Ace to take out his Yanmega that wasted time using Double Team, then I sent out Toad to take out his Drapion with Mud Bomb but Drapion used Aerial Ace which did alot of damage so I switched out to Fang who immediately used Dig and finished off Drapion, then I sent out Piebald again to one shot his Heracross with Aerial Ace before Static had trouble dealing with Vespiquen that kept using Heal Order, Defend Order and Attack Order but after enough Charges followed by Thunder Fangs, Static succeeded and finally Cerberus took out his Scizor with one Flamethrower.
>>58925179>DigDid you waste your EQ TM?
I beat the second elite four member Bertha and it was tough and had to plan hard. First she sent out her Whiscash that used Sandstorm before Koopa took out Whiscash with Razor Leaf, then I sent out Fang to take advantage of the Sandstorm and using Fangs Sand Veil ability to try and evade Gliscors Ice Fang because all six of my pokemon on my team are weak to one of Berthas Gliscors moves, it was hard but Fang used Dragon Claws enough times while dodging Ice Fangs that when it did get hit with a Ice Fang and neatly died, Gliscor had little HP left and Piebald came out and used Brave Bird to finish of Gliscor, then Koopa used Razor Leaf on her Golem that did use Fire Punch but Koopa healed using Giga Drain and eventually took out Golem and Rhyperior too with Giga Drain. Finally Hippowdon was taken out by Razor Leaf.
I just beat the third elite four member Flint and it was surprisingly easy. First his Houndoor used Sunny Day and then Flamethrower which nearly killed Toad who used Revenge and took out Houndoom. Then came his Rapidash, who used Solar Beam while Fang used Sandstorm to get rid of the sun, then used Dig before Rapidash could use Solar Beam and Fang surprisingly took put Rapidash in one Dig, Fang also took out Flareon and Magmortar in one Dig which surprised me but made me happy, finally Piebald took a Flare Blitz from Infernape and used Fly to kill the monkey once and for all. Also I forget to post the battle against Bertha and only remembered after I beat Flint.>>58925257Sorry, what do you mean?
>>58925284Earthquake, why use Dig when you can have a better move? You get it where you got Gabite.
I just beat the fourth elite four member Lucian and i got lucky. First his Mr Mime used Light Screen and Psychic while Koopa took out Mr Mime with Crunch, next came his Espeon, I had Fang use Sandstorm to boost evasion and while Espeons Pyschics did alot of damage, Fang took out Espeon with Crunch, next came Bronzong who nearly killed Cerberus with Earthquake but luckily enough, Cerberus killed Bronzong with one Flamethrower, then his Gallade used Stone Edge but Piebald used Fly to dodge and take out his Gallade in one hit and finally his Alakazam used Psychic on Static who countered with Crunch and the battle was over. One more battle left.>>58925308Oh well. I still have the TM. I just felt like not using TMs. I have Torterra who knows Earthquake.
>>58925324Fair enough, hopefully the rest of the E4 goes well.I am going to save mine for if my Hippo goes down between now and the E4. My team is probably not changing at this point unless tragedy strikes. Beat the first two lakes, Golduck, Medicham, Hippodown, Girafarig, Skuntank and Roserade.
The fight against the champion of the Sinnoh region Cynthia herself, did I win? Well first I sent out Fang against her Spiritomb which was difficult to take out due to Spiritomb lacking type weakness and Dark Pulse hitting hard but I had Fang use Sandstorm as usual and use Dig, eventually Spiritomb was taken out but Fang nearly died. Immediately afterwards, Cynthia sends out her own Garchomp which is the biggest threat yet, I send out Piebald who uses Fly while her Garchomp uses Flamethrower and Dragon Rush, I had to keep healing Piebald but eventually after a while, enough Flies took Garchomp out and the main threat was gone.Static killed Togekiss with Thunder Fang but took alot of damage from Aura Sphere and i needed Static to be fully healed to take out Milotic so I sent out Toad with the intention of sacrificing Toad just to heal Static and Fang but Toad survived Milotics Surf and so I healed Toad, eventually Milotic just kept spamming Mirror Coat that did nothing while Toad used Revenge and while Milotic did use one Ice Beam, one more Revenge from Toad killed Milotic without Statics help.By that point on, i knew I was gonna win. Cerberus took out her Roserade with Flamethrower despite being poisoned by Sludge Bomb and finally I sent out my own starter, Koopa who started off as a Turtwig and became a mighty Torterra, he used Earthquake while Cynthia's final pokemon Lucario used Aura Sphere and Koopa was the one who prevailed. As soon as Lucario had died, I cheered and knew that I had won my Pokemon Platinum nuzlocke.
>>58925434*inhales* yikes..............
>>58925610Good on you dude, starter and first encounter? Houndoom is one of my favorites, such a great poke.
>>58925679I think Starly was my first encounter though it may have been Bidoof who didn't die and kinda just was a early game HM slave.I love Houndoom too, wish he was in games more often.>>58925623Genuine question. Why those Shaun do this? Why don't he just quit? It's all so tiresome. I beat Cynthia but I don't want to violate her or anything, Shaun is just a pest and his images are gross.
black 2 easylocke>Lv. 10 Patrat>Lv. 10 Sewaddle (dead)>Lv. 11 Pidove (dead)>Lv. 7 Snivy (dead)I managed to beat Cheren but in the worst way possible. I had X-Defend and X-Speed on my Sewaddle. Its HP was 51% and I had a Berry on it so I would just be safe if I could just NOT get crit on the turn I was setting up X-Attack. Of course, Cheren's Patrat got a crit on that exact turn and Cheren proceeded to annihilate my team. I managed to win but just barely. At least my ruleset is extremely generous, so the run isn't dead just yet.>>58925776he's a mind-broken porn addict
Got extremely lucky with the Sky Pillar Cyrus fight, for some reason I thought the level cap was 42 for the final gym, had to box my Hippo for my HM slave Bibarel to get to the top of Coronet. Big struggle since everything but the Honch outsped me, got down to just the Crobat with no clean swaps, put in Golduck and got wrecked, Medicham in last and thankfully he used bite not Air Slash or I probably would have wiped.Down my Bibarel (not a big deal) and my Golduck now.

Fellas, am i retarded or is Steven in R/S actually difficult as fuck??I've done a hardcore Nuzlocke of Ruby twice and completely bungled it each time.First time team was Linoone, Crobat, Bellossum, Absol, Walrein and CameruptSecond time was Zangoose, Electrike, Cacturn, Donphan, Altaria and Wailord
>>58926571I'm surprised I got a clean sweep. I feel like I shouldn't have but I got way too lucky this nuzlocke. Also gonna do the post game too instead of just moving to the next game.
>>58927127Okay i have a question to ask. How come I often lose alot of pokemon in nuzlockes, including the three nuzlockes before like FireRed, HeartGold and Emerald but when I did this Platinum nuzlocke, I only lost two pokemon? Yes I have played Platinum more than once and it is my favourite pokemon game and I grew up with gen 4, I'm a Sinnohfag but even other times I've done Platinum nuzlockes, I've lost pokemon. I just feel that even if I won, I should have lost more than just three pokemon and one of them was just a sacrifice. I even somehow beat the elite four and champion without losing a single pokemon and I even nearly sacrificed Toxicroak just to heal Luxray until Milotic struggled to take Toxicroak out.
>Say I'm gonna finish the nuzlocke>Other stuff immediately comes upClassic. Anyway I did clear the Team Plasma plot so we're in the final stretch now. Colress ended up being much tougher than it should've been as Archaic, who I kinda expected to solo him, got critted into 1/3rd health by the first magneton so I had to be extra careful keeping it alive throughout the fight. Kyurem went down pretty easily to one Stone Edge but Ghetsis' Cofagrigus is literally satan and basically put Gigalith out of the rest of the fight. The entire fight with Ghetsis was touch & go with a couple of nasty crits nearly ending the run if not for a vital flinch against Eelektross. Unfortunately I ended up having to sacrifice Ruby Ruby to Hydreigon so I could safely switch in Heracross and take it down. She was the MVP against all of the team plasma stuff since after Drayden so it's sad to see her go near the end.Bringing back Destiny the Eevee who I abandoned around the 4th gym. I feel like I need a dark type the most for the E4, so I'll be training him into an Umbreon.>>58926650Trubbish is pretty sweet, but their line gets no coverage at all which makes them pretty bad in the late game.>>58925610>>58927134Congrats on the sweep! It probably is mostly just experience, but sometimes you just get a good run where stuff falls together.>>58926679Steven is pretty damn tough, despite most of his stuff being rock or steel you actually need a pretty varied team for good coverage. And Steven's Metagross is a massively underrated threat imo. I always struggle against it more than most other champion aces.
page 9 bump!>>58927281Toxic Spikes/ Acid Spray/ Sludge/ Venoshock is a surprisingly solid movepool to start with. I'm not even sure if I want to learn Body Slam at this point.
Not through Falkner yet, definitely not going to be a free fight since I have Chiko, Hoppip, the world's worst Sentret, Wooper, Zubat and Pidgey. Was planning my headbutt encounters since I get a few free routes due to dupes, the website I found on bing (pokestats) doesn't list any encounters for me on any route, guessing it's inaccurate but wondering whats a good resource for HGSS.
>Lv. 23 Darumaka uses Fire Punch>1-shots my Lv. 24 Herdier (critical hit)GODDAMN
>>58927134That's just how things work out sometimes. Your previous recent runs i feel run into the issue of not properly replacing your losses so you in turn lose more than you should be.
Changed my mind and switched Eevee with Golurk, figuring I needed a bit of extra oompf against Marshal, then it was time for the League:Shauntal>Friend nearly got whacked by an Energy Ball but otherwise went pretty wellMarshal>Somehow ended up coil-sweeping with ProuderGrimsley>Forgot about Aerial Ace Liepard, so that was scary but then Heracross used Brick Break lolCaitlin>Golurk, Magneton and Claydol handled it pretty well. Gothitelle the only threatIris>Flip takes a hefty Flamethrower but Close Combats Hydreigon, basically out for the rest of the fight>Terabyte slays Archeops>Archaic earth powers through Aggron>Terabyte slays Lapras and Volt Switches into Gundam to lure out Haxorus>Gundam Shadow Punches Haxorus but only barely brings it into Full Restore range while eating an Earthquake (+ Dragon Dance)>Switch into Friend on the full restore, who then proceeds to one-shot Haxorus and two-shot Druddigon with Ice Beam (we dodged a Focus Blast that would've definitely killed us)Had to think quite long and hard about who to volt switch into on the Lapras kill because I wanted to fight out Haxorus next but also bring Walrein in without damage. Walrein outspeeds Druddigon but if I couldn't one-shot it that it would either one-shot me or at least damage me too much that I couldn't tank a hit from Haxorus. So I wanted Friend to fight Haxorus before Druddigon, because I knew he was gonna have to do the bulk against both. For once one of my plans worked out exactly as I wanted, so with that we've won BW2 without losing anything to the E4! Ended up being a pretty fun team, Magneton was the goat to nobody's surprise but everyone pulled their weight. I probably won't start another run in a while, but I'll definitely be back for more at some point.>>58927700It had a nice niche, but I always value a diverse moveset. My own Garbodor this run ended up feeling pretty limited by the time of it's death.
>>58927736Nevermind, I'm an idiot and there are no rare trees in HGSS just two different tables. Bugsy was a joke, forgot he leads with Scyther so my Togetic strat was thrown out and instead Onix just killed in two rock slides. Great news, got a Hera on the first tree in Azalea, bad news it doesn't learn a fighting move until 19 so I won't be using it for Whitney anyway unless I edge it since I'm using average level caps but that's boring. Another gym for Onix I guess, hope I don't get metronomed to death.

Post game begins. All I did however was receive a Porygon just so I can add it to the pokedex, catch a Jinx in Snowpoint Temple which I've never caught one before until now and I caught Dustox. I got to team up with Marley too.
>>58927134partly experience, partly luck. if you've played sinnoh a lot you have a better idea of what to expect and prepare for. and sometimes runs just go your way, other times you get fucked by rng. as another anon said too, from what I saw of your previous runs your losses snowballed because you were replacing lost pokemon with low level mons and not preparing them enough. you probably could have prevented a lot of those losses. this run just seems like it went smoothly so it didn't reach that point.
>>58927811Yeah they hit hard. Route 4 just has so many great encounters, which can make it a pain to actually catch them.
>>58928596Congrats! Always nice to get a clean sweep!
>>58823132Well /nuz/, I finally got the motivation to finish my Pokémon Yellow nuzlocke, sorry for disappearing for a month.I picked up right where I left off, which was after Blaine, one gym leader to go. Most of Blaine's Pokémon are weak to Water-types, but Omastar is too slow to outspeed them, so I caught a Magikarp, since once it evolves into Gyarados, it'll be one of the most powerful Pokémon on my team. I named the Magikarp Leviathan in expectation, and started the miserable grind from level 5 all the way to just under the level cap.Leviathan fought every trainer I could find and ended up clearing out Viridian Gym in the process. Once the trainer EXP dried up, Leviathan spent a long time fighting wild Pokémon in Rock Tunnel. After hitting level 20 and evolving into Gyarados, then pushing through 30 and 40, I finally stopped at level 48, satisfied it was ready. I taught Leviathan Surf and Substitute, which would be useful for the Giovanni fight.I also caught a Tentacool at Route 19, which I named Brine. In retrospect, it would have been much faster to have trained up Brine instead, since I caught it at level 35 and not level 5. To make room on my team, I boxed my Psychic-types for now. If things went sideways, I’d rather have Dozer as a bulky emergency button or Helix for more Water coverage. So my team going into Giovanni was:>Shiv (Fearow)>Nightshade (Haunter)>Leviathan (Gyarados)>Brine (Tentacool)>Helix (Omastar)>Dozer (Snorlax)
>>58930559Since Leviathan had already cleaned out the gym trainers during training, the only battle left in Viridian Gym was Giovanni himself.I opened with Shiv, since Giovanni's Dugtrio lacks coverage moves and is walled by Flying-types. After Shiv spent a while trying to hit Dugtrio when it wasn't underground and avoiding attacks, Dugtrio went down and Giovanni sent in Persian. I switched to Nightshade, who also walls Persian thanks to its lack of coverage. Nightshade put Persian to sleep, got Persian down to low HP, then I switched to Leviathan to finish the job.Persian was still asleep, so I used the free turn to set up a Substitute, then KO'd it with Surf. The Substitute ended up not mattering, though, as Leviathan swept the rest of Giovanni's team with a super-effective Surf.I recorded a video of the battle, and uploaded it to https://files.catbox.moe/m6p43u.mp4 (the file size is too large to post here).Next is the penultimate Rival battle, and then I'll make my way up Victory Road and to Indigo Plateau to fight the Elite Four.

I went to the battle zone and I caught a Fearow, Banette and Camerupt. Technically cheating with Camerupt because the first encounter was Weezing but they kept using Explode so it's basically difficult to catch and it's not as if it will matter anyway since it's the post game and I'm probably not gonna use Camerupt.

>>58932544Pretty stupid question but have you beaten the E4 yet? If not then you only get sun stone, if you have might just be unlucky. You can always Pokeathlon or just cheat it in. Evo stones in HGSS (GSC in general) are shitty to acquire anyway.
>>58932597I have not. i've heard of some people getting other stones before E4, with one saying they got a water stone from it at 7 badges.
>>58932611I'm about to do it in a bit anyway, I will try and save and reset.
>>58932611>>58932621I just tried 3 times, got the sun stone. It's pre E4 for me. I was going to try on my DS with a post game save but I have no clue where my charging cable is though I'm pretty sure of that answer.I'd just cheat the stone in, not like abusing bug catching in a challenge isn't cheezy enough as it is.
>>58930565Are you gonna grind everyone up to equal levels before the league? My condolences if you are.
I think my Platinum nuzlocke is truly over as there's nothing to do now aside from post game battles which I can do that whenever.Today I caught a Dugtrio, a Pinsir, a Bellsprout and a Skarmory in Stark Mountain.Tomorrow I'm probably gonna start a new nuzlocke. Pokemon Black.
white easylocke>Lv. 39 Cofagrigus>Lv. 32 DucklettI made it to Twist Mountain, but Vespiquen was killed by a critical hit. the run is on its last legs.>>58933680good luck. I think BW are difficult games even if it doesn't throw rotation and triple battles at you.
Hey guys, what do you think a nuzlocke of pokemon platinum would be like if you limited yourself to just cross gen evos? So basically you could only use pokemon that are gen 4 evolutions of previous pokemon, baby pokemon don't count but Budew counts because it's final evolution is an evolution of a gen 3 pokemon, the nuzlocke wouldn't begin until you got Budew at the route north of the first city and you where allowed to trade a Murkrow and a Misdreavious from Diamond and Pearl to Platinum but only when you make it to Eterna Forest and you would have to evolve Kirlia into Gallade instead if Gardevoir and Snorunt into Frosslass instead of Glalie. Also you could only pick one Eevee evolution but it has to be Leafeon and Glaceon.

I got too cheeky! I was up against Colress's Magneton and tried to set up Excadril's Hone Claws one too many times. I should have stop after the first time, when Magneton's Supersonic missed. Excadrill killed itself in its confusion.I'm calling it quits here, for both easylocke runs. I had my fun, but both runs were starting to fall apart. nuzlocking two games simultaneously is a bit much but I'm not against trying it again sometime.
>>58934206i just said fuck it and did the pokeathalon. took like, 30 minutes. hate this fucking game never doing the bug catching shit ever again. atleast the team is done
>>58934802I swear supersonic is 100% accurate when the AI uses it.>nuzlocking two games simultaneouslyIt's what made me quit my last attempt at a generational challenge, I played RB at the same time and then Y, then I did GS at the same time. When I wiped in both games at the E4 I stopped playing for a solid year. Hopefully your next endeavor goes better.>>58935041I'll probably end up doing that since I keep missing phone calls and really could use a water stone. What's your team looking like?
>>58935057well with my ruleset, I was allowed to trade between the two game which makes things a tad easier. if you were nuzlocking gen 1+2 with that rule: you would have slaughtered both gens with Alakazam/Gengar's elemental punches lol
>>58934802That is a lot to keep track of, and in one of the harder regions at that. It's impressive that you got past the major Nuzlocke hurdles of Elesa and Clay.
Boutta take on Clair, I spent about a couple hour on voltorb flip for some boltbeam action Starmie, the grind to 38 is painful though, probably just get my Meganium up since he's going to poisonpowder that big seahorse anyway.Thinking about doing a cheeky and fighting Red with an all bug team which would leave my SS run with only 2 useable pree4 bugs in Ledian and Scyther.
>>58936597thanks! I don't mean to downplay the threat Elesa can pose but Clay was definitely the gatekeeper of these attempts. my team here >>58934198 were ALL weak to ground-type!
>>58936661Good luck against Clair! Hope Starmie pulls through, it's an excellent mon.
I just began my Pokemon Black Nuzlocke. My starter is Tepig and I caught a Lillipup and a Purrloin while also receiving a Pansage from a NPC at the Dreamyard. The battle against Striaton City gym leader Cress was easy. Tepig took out his Lillipup with Ember and Pansage took out his Panpour with Vine Whip.Afterwards while dealing with Team Plasma, a Patrat used Bide so I decided to sacrifice Lillipup who became my first casualty this run.I then however caught a Pidove, Tepig evolved into a Pignite and then I caught a Roggenrola at Wellspring Cave and a Timburr at Pinwheel Forest.Off to a good start.
>>58936943Got lucky with confuse hax after I misclicked and hit magical leaf instead of synthesis. Sent my Crobat in and got knocked to 1 HP but 3 wing attacks and 2 hit in confusions later got the clean win. Probably should have used the Nevermeltice on Starmie because I couldn't one shot the Dragonaires and ended up paralyzed and in the red. Had the magnet because I figured the thunderbolt would be better but thinking about it now they have the same BP and resists on Kingdra I'm just an idiot. Kimono girls were pretty easy as well, the Jolteon tried to double team me 4 times but Steelix hit twice with dig to end it's career.>>58937027I am a Purrloin and Timburr enjoyer, good luck bro. Can't wait to replay BW/2 its been almost 15 years since I last did.
>>58933226Probably not the whole team, but I expect to have to train at least one new Pokémon up to level 50. I have some ideas on how I'll change up my team for E4, and I'll probably end up using my Master Ball to catch one of the legendary birds. If do, I won't need to do any new grinding for it since it'll already be at the level cap.
>>58937556That's a good use for the Master Ball, plus if you were doing champ clause the legendary birds free up a mon for later games.
>>58937088I really don't like Timburrs design, it's so ugly. But good luck with BW2. Better than BW because they have non gen 5 pokemon.
Today has been mundane but I've lost two pokemon.I beat the gym leader of Nacrene City Lenora and Pignite was able to take out both her Herdier and Watchot with Arm Thrust.I lost Timburr to a Clerks Basculin that used Headbutt because I had to sacrifice him to heal Pansage. I don't care as I don't like Timburr and while I caught a Scraggy, I also lost Pansage to a Workers Roggenrola using Mud Slap but I'm not a fan of the elemental monkey so despite 3 losses in only two days, I'm doing fine.
>>58939319good job beating Lenora without using Roggenrola
HG E4 down, ended up losing my Crobat because I fully underestimated Eggsecutor and he one shot psychiced him. The rest of the e4 went alright, couple tight moments here and there but ultimately ended with Starmie almost clean sweeping Lance. Only thing that didn't die to surf and ice beam was his Charizard who chunked me with a shadow claw before Lance started his Full Restore party. Myself being a dumbass kept hitting the same move instead of a weaker move so I could two shot vs waiting out Full Restore after Full Restore.Onto Kanto now, Red is right around the corner.
page 9 bump!starting to get an itch for a double-nuzlocke again...
>>58930565I beat Giovanni, but Blue was still standing between me and Victory Road. For the rival fight, I boxed Shiv, Dozer, and Brine, and brought my Psychic core back: Sandman and Houdini. I also pulled out a Pokémon that had been sitting in the PC for ages: my Cerulean gift, Bramble. Bramble was only level 25, but its level didn’t matter nearly as much as its typing.Blue now had six Pokémon. He opened with Sandslash, which is completely walled by Nightshade thanks to its Ghost/Poison typing. Even though Sandslash had sixteen levels on Nightshade, it still went down while Nightshade only took six damage.Blue sent out Exeggcute, and this is where Bramble came into play. Bramble is an Ivysaur, a Grass/Poison Pokémon. Exeggcute kept trying to use Poison Powder on Bramble, since Poison is super-effective against Grass, but failed to realize that Bramble, a Poison-type itself, cannot be poisoned. Several dozen moves later, Bramble chipped through Exeggcute’s HP and KO’d it.Blue’s third Pokémon was Ninetales, so I went to Leviathan. Leviathan set up Substitute and used Surf for the KO. Leviathan knocked out Cloyster and Kadabra in much the same way. Bite is Normal-type in Gen I, but it still one-shot Blue’s Kadabra. Thanks to Substitute, Leviathan had one safe turn against Blue’s final Pokémon, Jolteon. Normally it would be forced out by the threat of a 4× super-effective STAB Thunder. Leviathan took out most of Jolteon’s HP with Surf before Jolteon broke the Substitute. With the Substitute gone, Leviathan was in danger, so I switched to Nightshade. Might seem like a bad choice, since Jolteon can one-shot Haunter with either of its attacking moves, but Jolteon will only use Agility here. Two moves later, the fight was over. Here’s a video of the battle: https://files.catbox.moe/tsxl4b.mp4
>>58940638Victorious, I went through Route 23, but had to turn back since I forgot to bring a Pokémon with Strength to move Victory Road’s many boulders. I taught Strength to Bruiser, my Machop, and went back in. I collected the TMs and a Rare Candy, bringing my total to eleven, and used a Repel to avoid encounters in case I wanted to catch Moltres later. After dealing with the boulder puzzles, I finally made it through the cave.It took me a minute to remember the way through the maze of statues outside the door, but after that, Indigo Plateau was finally here. Next was the less fun part. Grinding would be necessary to get my team up to speed with the Elite Four’s stronger, higher-level Pokémon. Before the grinding, I gave Leviathan Ice Beam and Thunderbolt, improving its coverage. At this point, I had to lock in my final roster. I decided to keep five Pokémon I already owned and catch one more. My team for the Elite Four will be:Leviathan, my GyaradosNightshade, my HaunterHoudini, my KadabraSandman, my HypnoSpade, my DiglettSpade was only level 18, and hadn’t been on my team since it was caught in Diglett’s Cave over a month ago, but I needed an answer to Blue’s Jolteon. The Pokémon I decided to catch? Articuno. It’s the most easily accessible Ice-type for Lance, and at level 50, it needs no grinding. I flew to Cinnabar Island with Shiv, crossed the ocean with Leviathan, and solved the boulder puzzle with Bruiser. I used my Master Ball to catch Articuno and named it Aurora.
>>58940640Then came the grind. Spade was by far the lowest level, so I trained it in a few different spots before settling on Pokémon Tower. It has no Flying-types, so Spade could use Dig to one-shot everything there, and the fifth floor has a healing area, so no time is wasted going to and from the Pokémon Center. Eventually, Spade had evolved into a level-50 Dugtrio, replaced its Scratch with Slash, and learned Earthquake.I did the same with Houdini, and once it reached level 50, the team was nearly ready.I also ground out Game Corner coins to buy extra Substitute TMs. I hadn’t used it before this Nuzlocke, but I’m starting to like Substitute. Being able to block one hit regardless of damage makes a huge difference when you’re fighting higher-level enemies. My team is ready. I fight the Elite Four tomorrow.
Lost quite alot today.I did beat the gym leader of Castelia City Burgh but at a lost. First Roggenrola took out his Whirlipede with Rock Blast but then I sent out Pidove against his Leavanny when I should have just sent out Pignite instead. Pidove used Air Slash but Leavanny survived and used Razor Leaf and unfortunately landed a crit killing Pidove and Pidoves death could have been avoided if I just used Pignite who did kill Leavanny with Fire Blast. Finally Pignite killed His Dwebble with Arm Thrust.Later I lost Scraggy to Cherens Dewott using Razor Shell and while Purrloin evolved into Liepard and I caught a Dwebble at the Desert Resort and then a Yamask at Relic Castle, I then lost both Dwebble and Liepard to a Psychics Sigilyph using Air Slash.I did pick up a Cover Fossil and revive it at Nacrene City to receive a Tirtouga but then in the battle against N near the ferris wheel, I lost Roggenrola to Ns Sigyliph using Psybeam.Fuck Sigyliph. Any advice for Elesa?
Back after a long pause. Busier these days.>Vs Koga>WeezingVanilla uses Dig as Weezing Protects on turn one. Weezing Sludge Bombs Vanilla on the second turn. Another wasted Protect on Dig, but Weezing barely survives the second Dig and goes for Explosion. Vanilal survives, but won't be doing more this battle.>VenomothI switch in Picnic-Kim, but unfortunately, Venomoth's Psychic lowers her Special Defense. I don't think I have a mon I trust entirely to handle Venomoth, so I just hope Flamethrower will be strong enough to take out Venomoth. It leaves Venomoth in the red, wgich allows the bug to get the KO on Kim with Sludge Bomb.Eeveelyn comes in and finishes the Venomoth off with Glitzy Glow, setting up Light Screen.>MukIt uses Protect as Eeveelyn Digs down. When she pops up to hit it, the Muk uses Toxic.Muk then Protects itself from a Glitzy Glow, only to get crit by one on the next turn.It lands a Sludge Bomb, and with the Toxic damage already taken, I don't want to risk more. I swap in Valention on Sludge Bomb, then Psychic until Protect fails.>GolbatI switch in Paimon on Protect.Golbat uses Fly twice while Paimon fires of Thunderbolts, winning the battle.

I despise exclusively locking Pokémon behind events to an irrational degree. I do think it's morally correct to "cheat" when this is the case on casual playthroughs (like the Mew glitch), but I understand that glitches, bugs, cheats, etc. invalidate the integrity of a challenge run. Some games lock so many Pokémon behind events that your party would be flooded with mythical Pokémon if you did decide to cheat them in. There's also the issue of *when* to acquire said even Pokémon as well as how they fit into the "one encounter per area" rule.In the case of Mew, Mew was originally a secret reward for catching all 151 Pokémon in the Japanese versions. Don't know why but they changed it for western releases, so the player receives a shitty-ass diploma instead and Mew became exclusively locked to distribution events.
>>58940643I don't think you'll have any trouble winning, this is a seriously stacked team you've got.
>>58942719>Mew was originally a secret reward for catching all 151 Pokémon

>>58945121I want to give gen 5 another go! HGSS and DPPt is something I've tried once before but there's something really weird with Johto that makes all your Pokémon grow slowly; feels really bad trading between non-johto games. other than those games, I don't have many options...
Today has been alright.I caught a Minccino, a Gothita and a Swadloon at the Lostlorn Forest. I then beat the gym leader of Nimbasa City Elesa though I wasn't gonna win without sacrificing a pokemon. Pignite used Rollout and took out both her two Emolgas who all used Aerial Ace and did alot of damage to Pignite so I switched out to Minccino to heal Pignite and sacrifice Mincinno who was taken out by Zebstrikas Spark, I was never gonna use Minccino anyway. Pignite took out Zebstrika with Flame Charge and the battle was won.I then caught a Ducklett at Driftveil Drawbridge and a Vanillite at the Cold Storage. Gothita and Vanillite are at the daycare.Any advice for Clay?
>>58945200Johto just has a slow leveling curve all around. It didn't matter as much in gen 2 because moves weren't quite as good and you could get away with badge boosts at lower levels.
>>58945443don't forget the Scald TM in the Cold Storage! it's hidden and you can only see it from a VERY specific camera angle. it *could* be your ticket to defeating Clay!>>58945921it's more than just the level curve; I'm pretty sure the EXP modifier is designed to give you less EXP overall.
>>58945443He's got coverage over your team with Bulldoze and Rock Slide. If you trained it up a bit Ducklett could probably easily deal with everything but Excadrill.
>>58946791NTA but Excadrill feels unfair to fight. ground + rock hits every mono-type for at least neutral damage. what are you supposed to do against him?
>>58946834Never understood how people suffered so much with Clay. I’ve always felt like him and Elesa are so overrated as bosses.
>>58946853you dodged the question
>>58946854Hard to dodge a question you were never asked
>>58946834A good Water or Fighting type, especially if you can outspeed Excadrill. Scald is in the Cold Storage and you have Throh, Sawk, and Gurdurr/Conkeldurr to work with.>>58946853I think Elesa being a pain can be boiled down to her placement. As it stands, your best counters for her are Sandile and Drillbur, neither of which can evolve if playing with level cap, and you're still getting pounded by Aerial Ace and Pursuit if you risk swapping out, while your best offense is Rock Tomb, then Zebstrika comes in to sweep your battered team. Clay, meanwhile, depends on your encounters and keeping them alive i think. You've kept Conkeldurr alive so far? You'll probably be fine. Unlucky with your encounters or random crits keep dwindling your party? You're gonna have a bad time.
>>58946952From my experience the Emolga VS put to something else just for it to be chipped down so by the time you’re done with one the other one & Zebstrika are at least ~40% damaged. I’ve had more issues with Static than Volt Switch. As for Clay, I have used stuff from Basculin to Leavanny to deal with his Drill. The dumb thing often tries to set up more Hone Claws than it needs

I'm playing B2 for the first time ever and thought I might try to nuzlocke itMy starter crit killed the first two encounters and I was able to catch a Psyduck, but then I wiped to Cheren. Going in blind so don't know anything about the trainers.Do you guys employ any kind of "I don't want to sit through all of those fucking text boxes again" clauses for early game or do you just restart no matter what? I might just give up the nuzlocke since it's my first playthrough but I'm just curious what kind of things you might do to keep yourself sane here
>>58948419blind nuzlocking isn't recommended unless you have the mental fortitude for it. I restart no matter what, otherwise there's no point.

>>58948454Fair enough, thanks man
>>58948767TLDR black 2 is a tough game to nuzlockenow I'm going to YAP about things no one asked about like some kind of retro NPC. truth to be told, I nuzlocked black 2 blind initially (until I pussied out at Victory Road and looked up trainer teams because the trainers there are actually dangerous). the big thing you have to remember with gen 5 is that tackle got boosted from 35 BP to 50 BP so STAB so mono-normal shitmons hit harder than you'd expect. then take into account that you don't really get anything that could be considered a tank in the early game (unless you get lucky with a Roggenrola encounter), and you got a recipe for high mortality rate. B2W2 is especially nasty because the game will throw triple battles and rotation battles at you with no indication whatsoever. I remember a double battle in chargestone cave had me up against a darmanitan. the second I laid eyes on that behemoth, I knew one of my guys was gonna die. 140 base attack + sheer force + STAB flare blitz is beyond mean.
>>58948419BW2 is hard enough for a regular Nuzlocke, nevermind a blind run. But yeah, people generally reset if they wipe. The most they'll do is not officially starting the run until you get pokeballs which would preclude losing the first rival battle and any encounters before then.
Fuck today. I didn't lose a pokemon but still.I caught a Karrablast and Pignite evolved into Emboar before I took on the gym leader of Driftveil City Clay.Ducklett took out his Krokorok with two Bubble Beams and Emboar one shotted his ace Excadrill somehow with Flame Charge, his Palpitoed was also taken out in one hit by Swadloons Razor Leaf. Afterwards I caught a Ferroseed in Chargestone Cave and then i caught a Watchog I did not fucking want. I hate this thing, let me tell you that I wanted a Zebstrika so bad to help against the battle with Skyla and instead I catch this thing and then when I see a grass patch ruffling which means there is an Audino and a chance to gain alot of exp, I encounter Watchog before I could get to it because fuck this game.Watchog is now my most hated pokemon. Any advice for Skyla?
>>58906259Will this general have another resurgence when frlg comes out? I remember there was one when bdsp came out
>>58949300Probably a small resurgence, at the end of the day it's not a brand new game but it also isn't deliberately designed in a casualized way.
>>58949155Congrats on beating Clay! Your Shell should be able to resist most of the attacks in Skyla's gym. It might be a good time to grind up some levels. Do you have the Lucky Egg item yet or is that later in the game?>Emboar one shotted his ace Excadrill somehow with Flame ChargeNani the fuck.
>>58950112Excadrill is actually kinda frail for a Steel type, and Emboar has a massive attack stat and, in this case, several levels behind a super effective attack.
>>58950716sure, but flame charge only has 50 BP. even with STAB, it's just a measly 75 BP. I guess Excadrill's DEF is made out of tissue paper.

>>58940643I said my team was ready, but I did make one last stop: I bought vitamins for Aurora at the Celadon Department Store. I wasn’t going to need the money anymore, and since Aurora never got the chance to level up, it also never got any stat EXP. Vitamins were the least I could do.With that done, I flew back to Indigo Plateau with Shiv, then boxed it.I sent out Leviathan against Lorelei. I had taught Leviathan Thunderbolt earlier to prepare. Leviathan set up Substitute and then took down Lorelei’s entire team from behind a sub.I healed up Leviathan with a Super Potion and restored its Thunderbolt PP with an Ether. Then it was time for Bruno.Bruno was easy as always. Leviathan swept again, and I didn't even bother to have it set up a Substitute. Before Agatha, I switched my lead to Houdini to line up better into her Poison-types.Agatha was straightforward too. Everything she has folds to Psychic, so Houdini set up Substitute and spammed Psychic until the room was clear. A few potions and another Ether later, I was moving on.After fighting Agatha, my level cap had increased from 50 to 55, and I still had eleven Rare Candies saved up from my journey across Kanto, so the time had come to finally use them.I leveled Leviathan and Aurora up to the new level cap, and used the remaining three candies on Spade (Leviathan had already picked up levels naturally against Lorelei and Bruno), bringing Spade up to level 53.
>>58951667Lance was the only tough Elite Four member. Opening with Leviathan again, I found myself in a mirror match against Lance's own Gyarados.Despite being of lower level, Leviathan's stat EXP combined with my badge boosts let Leviathan move first and use Thunderbolt for the KO. I couldn’t repeat the feat against Dragonair because of its typing, and its Thunderbolt threatened Leviathan, so I switched out.Aurora came in for the Dragonairs. Thunder Wave was the big problem here, since full paralysis could be fatal if it happened at the wrong time.I had prepared for this moment before fighting the Elite Four, having sent poor Aurora to fight Tentacool on Route 19 until one poisoned it with Poison Sting.I hated seeing Aurora poisoned, but it was better than being paralyzed. Even with that prep, Aurora still had to take a Thunderbolt on the switch, which chunked it hard. Aurora fired back with Ice Beam for the KO anyway.Lance sent out the second Dragonair, the one without Thunderbolt, so I used the opening to set up a Substitute. It went for BubbleBeam, which couldn’t break the sub, and the next Ice Beam took it out.Aerodactyl came out next and broke Aurora’s Substitute with Swift, but Aurora moved after and dropped it with Ice Beam. Dragonite was last, and it was slower than Aurora, so one final Ice Beam ended the fight.First thing I did afterward was Full Restore Aurora to cure the poison, then I burned my remaining Elixirs to top off PP across the team. One fight left.
>>58951673I kept Leviathan in front to wash away Blue’s Sandslash with Surf. He answered with Alakazam, so I went straight to Houdini. Despite being a lower-level and pre-evolved form of the same Pokémon Blue had, Houdini was actually faster. What followed was a standoff. Houdini threw up Substitute to block Kinesis, then used Kinesis six times to crater Alakazam’s accuracy. Whenever the sub broke, I re-set it, and used Recover with every other broken Substitute. Houdini moved on to Psychic to prepare for the KO. Despite Alakazam's high Special and its Psychic resistance, it didn't last long after Houdini landed a Special drop. For Exeggutor, I went back to Nightshade. It couldn’t meaningfully hurt the ghost and mostly tried to put it to sleep, so I slowly chipped it down until Blue finally sent out Cloyster.Cloyster was Leviathan’s job. Two Thunderbolts and it was gone.Next was Ninetales. I had Leviathan chip it down with Ice Beam without KO’ing, before I switched to Nightshade yet again, as Ninetales could only use Confuse Ray. Luckily, Nightshade was able to land a Hypnosis without dying of confusion damage. I used the free turns to bring in Spade.Spade cleaned up Ninetales and Jolteon with Earthquake.Champion.This Nuzlocke was pretty fun overall. Reducing the level caps made it challenging, although I had the fewest losses of any of my Nuzlockes at only two. I uploaded the videos of the Elite Four battles to https://limewire.com/d/L1pkz#aKKJnlL8x6These level caps could be pushed a lot lower. I might run Yellow again.

I know you drop the pokemon off at the daycare then when you tske it out, its a Celebi. I know the name you give the pokemon stays the same, and that it doesnt register as Celebi in the dex unless its traded back to you, but I am curious: Will its stats be those of a Celebi or the pokemon you morphed into it? I'm interested in keeping tuings as authentic as possible.

Here's what happened today.I caught a Litwick in Celestial Tower before taking on the gym leader of Mistralton City, Skyla in which I had to make two sacrifices.First Yamask was able to take out Swoobat with Night Shade but it was difficult, then came Unfezants who's Air Slash and Quick Attack made things difficult, I had Vanillite use Avalanche that did do alot of damage but Skyla healed and I knew there was no way Vanillite was gonna take out Unfezant so instead if switching out Vanillite, I had Vanillite take one more Quick Attack and it was dead, then Emboar came out to use Rollout which did alot of damage but kept failing in succession and Unfezant nearly killed Emboar, so I switched out Emboar, my best chance of beating Unfezant and Swanna and switched out to Gothita just to sacrifice her while I heal Emboar, Gothita is stilled by an Air Slash, Emboar comes back in and manages go kill Unfezant with a Rollout and luckily enough the next Rollout kills Swanna in one hit. That battle was hard without an electric type. After that annoying battle, I got some new evolutions, Swadloon evolved into Leavanny, I caught a Frillish and a Sawk and afterwards Yamask evolved into Cofagrigus and Ducklett evolved into Swanna. Finally I also caught a Swoobat at Mistralton Cave.Tomorrow is Twist Mountain and then Brycen.

I also caught a Deerling at Dragonspiral Tower, then a Shelmet and in the Moor of Icirrus, I caught a Palpitoed. The gym battle against the Icirrus City gym leader Brycen was easy. >>58951697Started another Pokémon Yellow Nuzlocke. Same rules as last time, except the level caps are two-thirds of normal instead of 90%.That puts my caps at:>Level 8 (Brock)>Level 14 (Misty)>Level 18 (Lt. Surge)>Level 21 (Erika)>Level 33 (Koga)>Level 33 (Sabrina)>Level 36 (Blaine)>Level 36 (Giovanni)>Level 37 (Lorelei)>Level 38 (Bruno)>Level 40 (Agatha)>Level 41 (Lance)>Level 43 (Champion)The game started out easy enough. I got a Pikachu from Professor Oak and named it Zappy. Zappy won the first battle against my rival, Blue. After delivering the parcel to Professor Oak, I got the Pokédex and caught a Mankey on Route 22. I named the Mankey Knuckles. Knuckles would be key for the upcoming Brock fight, since if it gains EXP against Brock's Geodude during the fight, it can level up and learn Low Kick to use against Onix.I also caught a Rattata on Route 2, which I named Nibble. I leveled Zappy, Knuckles, and Nibble to level 7 and then caught a Metapod in Viridian Forest. I named the Metapod Chrysalis. Chrysalis only knew Harden and couldn't evolve until after Brock anyway, so I didn't expect it to contribute much in the gym. With four encounters in hand, I cleared the mandatory Viridian Forest trainers early so I wouldn't accidentally overlevel later. I leveled up Zappy, Knuckles, and Nibble to level 8, the cap, and fought my rival, Blue, on Route 22.Zappy led and dropped Blue's Spearow with ThunderShock. Eevee came in next, so I played it safe: softened it up, chipped it down, and then pivoted through Chrysalis so Zappy wouldn't gain enough EXP to go over the cap. Knuckles finished Eevee with Scratch.I uploaded the video of the rival fight to https://files.catbox.moe/k9a1cj.mp4After that, the only thing left was Brock. Before going in, I did a little Route 1 grinding for stat EXP, carefully staying under the cap.
>>58958776Against Brock, I opened with Zappy, since it knows Growl. Zappy didn't have any way to deal damage to Brock's Geodude, but it could use Growl to lower Geodude's Attack. Even though Zappy took a crit Tackle on the first turn of the fight, it still succeeded in using Growl five times before dying.I sent out Nibble next, and just like how Zappy used Growl to lower Geodude's Attack, Nibble used Tail Whip to lower its Defense. After four Tail Whips, Quick Attack finally started doing real damage, and Nibble chipped Geodude down most of the way before falling to another Tackle. That set Knuckles up perfectly. With the sacrifices keeping it healthy, Knuckles cleaned up Geodude, leveled during the fight, and got the Low Kick it needed.Brock sent out Onix.Turn one didn't go well, with Onix taking out a good chunk of Knuckles' HP with a Tackle while Knuckles missed its Low Kick. On turn two, Onix used Bide, and Knuckles' Low Kick played right into its trap. I realized Knuckles might not have enough time to finish Onix before Bide released, and I'd already stored too much damage.I had Knuckles use one more Low Kick when I remembered I still had Chrysalis in the party. To protect Knuckles, my only remaining Pokémon with an attacking move, I knew what I had to do.I switched in Chrysalis right as Onix was about to unleash its energy. Chrysalis died immediately.Knuckles was sent back in to finish the job. Onix tried to Bide again, but this time it was too late. Knuckles finished off Onix with Low Kick before it could unleash its energy.I uploaded a video of the fight to https://files.catbox.moe/tfoyj6.mp4Brock gave me TM34, Bide, which I immediately sold. Now I'm down to just one Pokémon...

Here is today's progress.I catch a Pawniaed and then a Bouffalant before taking on the gym leader of Opelucid City Drayden. I didn't really have a plan because I had no ice types so this is what I did. Emboar used Rollout and it got stronger and stronger taking out both Fraxure and Druddigon, finally Haxorus came out and used Dragon Tail ending the Rollout and forcing Cofagrigus out. Cofagrigus used Will o Wisp to burn Haxorus before I sent out Emboar again to use Flamethrower multiple times while Haxorus burned and kept using Dragon Dance. I was worried but eventually Haxorus was killed by the fire and I have now beaten all 8 gym leaders of Unova. Now it's time for Victory Road and the Elite Four. Any advice for the Elite Four?

Today all I did was catch a Durant at Victory Road. My final team to take on the elite four is gonna be Emboar, Leavanny, Swanna, Cofagrigrus, Excadrill and Bouffalant. Is it a good team? And any advice for the elite four? Advice for N? And advice for Ghetsis?
>double easylockeI beat Elesa in both files but lost Conkeldurr to a critical hit in Black 2...I also lost Emolga in the same file yesterday because first-encounter wild Gothita was taking turns spamming Psybeam and Fake Tears, to which I had good switch-ins for. I could feel a critical hit coming, and not wanting to lose my other members, I left Emolga in to take the hit...now I have to survive Charles the Heartbreaker...
>>58906259>pokmon gaylocke>can only use Pokémon that have inherently gendered designs that match your trainers sex>eg if yours a male you could only use male incineroar, machamp ect>all other generic nuzlocke rules applyThoughts on my homebrewlocke?

>>58960359I'm almost through Mt. Moon, I caught a Zubat and it's surprisingly good at clearing the Poison-types there thanks to Leech Life.

>>58967471I'd say to ask in >>58906259 but when I asked the other day if there's a hip new ROM hack or of its still just radical red I got ignored
Wasn't sure if I should ask about rom hacks here or not but what's the most solid Gen 2 rom out right now? Last time I looked around there's like 4/5 of them now
these fucking Geodudes are edging giving me a strokeSTOP EXPLODINGYOU ALREADY KILLED MANKEY LESS THAN 100 XP BEFORE HE WAS A PRIMEAPESTOP LEAVING MY MONS AT LIKE 2 HP
>>58966693Ah yeah, gen 1 bug poison interaction is fun. And ice not being halved by fire.>>58967500I was recommended Polished Crystal, I gave up after hours of grinding to be killed by an Alolan Muk in Goldenrod underground though so I can't speak for the game really. Like how they made sprites all different colors based on DVs though.Really depends what you're looking for though as that seemed to be gen 4 backported to GSC engine since it has phys/special split and the story is basically HGSS from what I played.>>58967824Hiker in Dark Tunnel has wadged jihad on everything not grass/water or ghost.
>>58967824You have to beat them with their own tools anon. Take the Golempill.
Those fuckass hiking terrorists doubled my fucking death count, I will now pave over every single mountain in the Kanto region and put in a MegaPokeMart with Garden Center and Auto Shop

I hate reusable TMs so much.>>58965903if your rule set allows in-battle items: you already beat the game. Excadrill can set up X-items against everyone except Marshall.
