Are regionals actually better? Or were the ZA starter base forms so unpopular, and Toiligatr such a shitshow that it warped the perception of megas. If the Kalos starters were the ones you started the game with, megas would probably still be much more popular

Even if it's mega is the worst out of three, it's fan(even if they don't like it) will still accept it and ride or die for it. But for the other two, it's always a uphill battle to be praised by the majority of the internet that hates them and are dead set on their ways. Dragonite is also popular, so the mega also gets carried by that. For Starmie, yeah japanese meme magic conquers all.
