Does anyone else feel like electric type is genuinely the worst type in the games?Like not even competitively or anything just the vibes are so off it feels awful to play with.

Resisted only by itself, grass which is ass, and Dragon, ground is immune, which is notable. Effective against flying and water, which are some of the most common types. Ludicrous neutral coverage. The type itself is one of the best in the game, top 5 easy.The problems are twofold.One, Electric has a weird obsession with mixed attackers. Electivire, Raichu, Luxray, even a lot of shit that you think of one way or the other, is actually mixed. This means they usually don't hit hard enough, and are more frail than they should be, which is exacerbated by slower electrics like Luxray or Ampharos.Two, Physical Electric is a meme. It has no moves, every time it gets one it sucks somehow. This makes the mixed attack properties of electrics even worse, because they can't even use one of those stats well.

I always thought it was rather boring, they don't have any good gimmick moves or strats imo. I'd like it if they had something like Pursuit, but it's a weaker move than even that, but it just hits both the mon switching out and the one coming in. Call it Chain Lightning.
>>58919700Overall, yes.Bug is absolutely not the worst defensively, and is probably not the worst offensively, but most of the other types dogshit in one, are good in the other. Ice and Rock are worse defensively, but are among the best offensively. Steel is ass offensively, but is probably THE best defensively. Normal is the other good contender for general worst, especially now that Return is gone, and a lot of Normals are relying on weird shit like Body Slam or goddamn Dizzy Punch.

Defensively, Bug at least resists Ground and Gighting, two amazing offensive types due to how widely distributed their powerful moves are. Also, Bug pairs very well with the Steel. Meanwhile, Bug is offensively resisted by nearly half of entire pokedex, and its best move Megahorn is inaccurate, not widely distributed, can't even be powered up by a weather or terrain, and doesn't even have a way to increase accuracy like Thunder or Hurricane.

Incredibly linear and straightforward to its own detriment, only really present on one offensive side (physical), barely any status or support, weak to the legendary type (Psychic)....It still kinda is all of those, but the weakness barely matters anymore (the "new" hotness of Fairy is more relevant), and the attacking moves got so strong that it almost doesn't matter if you're beating on a high-defense opponent.
Electric is a good type that's honestly fairly arbitrarily gimped by GF. Great typing. Some good mons, but a lot are really mediocre, almost universally awful movepools. Designs fall into the same trapping as Fire where an overwhelming amount of designs are "animal, but elemental color-coded"

>>58919550Poison is my absolute favorite, its tanky, and typically does solid damage and only has two weaknesses, and usually makes up for that offset, with other powerful attacks, look at earily gen gengar and muk, then in gen 3 they gave Weezing a huge ability levitate, being such a massive wall to so many pokemon in gen 3. even now its still used with its new varient.

Cursed by having Pikachu being Electric, and thus having its Roster being clogged up by countless Pikachu Clones, that Gamfreak will shill to no ends in order to sell Merchandise. And also simuntenaously giving them Broken Specia Moves, that more original and interesting Pokemon would love to have, but never will. Electric is my favourite tyoe, but GF smyellow rat shilling is out of hand. After more than 2 decades they should've gotten the memo that aside from Pikachu, no one cares about any of the Pika clones
I will say, electric types are almost "either really good or really shit" with not much in between. A lot of electric types are frail and have shitty movepools. And of course the physical ones are unsalvageable. But the ones that ARE good will pretty much act as a wincon if you can take out the opposing ground type.
